Does anyone know how many people are accepted into the program? Since their class size is around 60 i'm assuming maybe 120ish? Just wondering if that was something they told people on interview day 🙂

no acceptances have gone out yet. i'm sure they will accept maybe 60 ish and waitlist 60 ish?

For those who interviewed, would you consider yourself high stats applicants? I think my application is alright but I know I’m okay versus high stats.

I'm not high stats at all, I applied my primary as soon as it opened, but took the full two weeks for my secondary because I wanted to ensure I represented myself in the best way possible.

They didn’t mention it but I think schools usually accept 2-2.5x the class size. Some individuals will get better finaid packages from other schools, some will be scared of by the cost, some will just determine that they rather go somewhere else. It will be interesting to see how everything plays out.

Yea I have heard that as well! I think that's a pretty standard practice for most schools. Hoping thats the case for CDU as well

Me lol!, first I need that interview, I haven't even gotten one. If I don't get in, I'll reapply again, but I'm going to start Med school at UAG next spring if I don't get in somewhere here in the USA
Is this your first cycle ?

I’m 30 shout out non traditional !

No, this is my third cycle!!!! yes, I'm old already, I turn 31 this august, therefore if I don't get in, I'll go to Mexico's UAG. I prefer it over SGU as its closer to the states, and one of my psychiatrists during undergrad went there!
Wow !!

First cycle and 25 years old. Graduated college in 2021

They have these events almost every month. For some reason, a few people seem to be missing out on emails. I presume it's because their name never got added to the email list. But I wouldn't worry since the adcom still has not met and will start meeting sometime next month.

Have they started building the new medical school yet?

The timeline online shows construction should be finished in February 2023, but news sources say it will be completed in 2025.

Nah, they are only building a lecture hall and a couple of other rooms in the meantime. The actual building won't be done until about 2025. They might just end up building a smaller building than originally planned due to lack of funding.

Do you think the school will have all the labs and latest (if this is an appropriate word?) resources and technology available to students?

I think it will have a decent amount to begin with, but I am sure it will take a few years to build it up. I know they will be using the hololens primarily for anatomy. In terms of labs, I don't think that is something they are working on as of now (probably in the new building). It also depends on what you mean by latest technologies. At the end of the day, it is important to understand that CDU is an under-resourced University and it would be unfair to compare it to other larger institutions. In terms of resources, I think it will have enough but not in abundance. As far as I understand, they are still working on hiring more people to be able to accommodate the needs of all students. That being said, it pales in comparison to the UCs and other larger institutions (i.e. cal-state Universities, maybe other HBCUs).

I’m curious about this too. Does anyone know if they have private study rooms? (or has anyone ever been to campus to see?) The virtual tour of the library doesn’t show much. Lol sorry for all the questions.

The library is small ( 1 floor, and the virtual tour is pretty accurate). Last time I checked, it had about 2 study rooms. It has some desks spread throughout the floor, but it is tight. I think they are working on renovating a few things and possibly adding two more rooms. They also have a small student center. But again, the goal is for all of this to grow with time. Also, I think a good indicator of the technology would be to look at how the interviews are being scheduled (not the most extraordinary method but works, I guess). My guess is that for the first couple of years, the medical students will be using the same facilities as the PA and Nursing students (with the exception of a couple of spaces that will be used only by the medical students).

Gotcha, this is helpful. Thank you for the info!

I interviewed on the 6th and didn't get the survey until the 20th. It should be on the way to your email soon!
