they said they were only interviewing like 200. also 215 can include admin. i just wanna know the decision!!
 
I am not sure if I misunderstood, but do we know approx. how many people are on the admissions committee? I just thought I read here that only 2 people were reviewing the applications..

I'd review the school's admission committee policy on their website. Since this is their first cycle, I am not sure how strict they are about following their proposed protocol. I attached the link below to find the document under Admissions Policy and Procedures

Is the one year calculus requirement still a thing? I checked on MSAR and they didn't have a unit requirement. Wondering if I should plan to sign up for calc 3 next quarter LOL

That is wild if you have to take all 3 calculus classes because of the quarter system to matriculate into this school. I stopped after calc 2 and I would not expect them to need calculus 3, but my school is on a semester system.

im in the same boat as you, i wouldn't withdraw just yet. I was also told "case by case" and still received an interview. I'm just gonna wait until they explicitly tell me bc i don't think its fair they haven't made a mass announcement instead of only telling those who attend their info sessions knowing not everyone is able to lol. they could still change their mind about it down the road

Good points. I won't withdraw, but if I receive an interview, I am going to explicitly ask, let them know I do not have calculus AND do not plan on completing it before matriculation because, 1.) I do not have the time to complete it before this fall, and 2.) I have been accepted to an OOS school that is well established/not new and does not require it. :shrug:

I don't think the onus is on them to make a mass announcement. It was on their website before applications opened. The "Case by case" exceptions implies it is up to you to reach out and see if you can work something out.

They have already changed their mind, reducing biochem to one semester but holding firm on the one year of calculus, I would not count on any changes.

i reached out before even submitting my primary, that’s when i received the case by case email. so imo it is on them

if you don’t mind waiting (like me) then i wouldn’t withdraw, there’s no harm in waiting, you’ve already paid amcas and there’s no secondary payment

either they're done interviewing or fixed the issue of seeing who's been interviewed. i remember them mentioning 200 at first, but then heard their goal was 220 on one of the calls.

Well they aint done because I haven't signed lol but i think they're near the end.

For a class size of 60, if they are already at 200+ interviews I am not sure why they are interviewing up until April (based on their website) unless it's to fill in waitlist spots. Anything more than 350+ interviews is overkill (in my opinion).

Once acceptances go out, I would expect a lot of waitlist movement if the school is unable to give a significant amount of aid to accepted applicants especially for out of state applicants like myself.

i feel like the only reason people would choose this school is if its their only acceptance, or even their only MD acceptance, or if they are from cali and their other acceptances are oos (like me).
 
Did they share with us what their curriculum will be like? Also, what a day-to-day schedule looks like?
 
When y’all say your complete dates, did you get an email saying you’re complete or is that just the date you turned your secondary in?

It's worth noting that the president mentioned (during the last community forum) they were going to give preference to those students who are from the South LA area. The longer they wait to give out acceptances, the harder it will be to recruit people. Therefore, I presume a good number of their offers will get rejected. IMO I think offers will go out soon, probably before March.

That would be nice if it was before March. If accepted I think I read on the website that we will have 14 days to decide.

as someone mentioned before, the larger scholarships are only for those who are from LA
 
Idk if y'all noticed but it looks like they extended the deadline for primary/secondary apps by a whole month (Feb 28th now for primary). When I applied the deadline was Jan 20th. This must mean they will be interviewing more candidates i'd assume
 
Originally supposed to be well over 200 interviews. But it’s their first time going through the process since it’s a new school. Lots of things are going to be and have been fluid, from number of invites, to requirements, to deadlines for apps, to most likely when acceptances will go out. This will probably be the case over the next few years for curriculum, professors, resources, new buildings construction, to anything really…
I think this is where the ‘grit’ comes in that has been mentioned. It will be an adventure! I’m rooting for y’all and myself to get in and make it through 4 years successfully!

Does anyone have any insider information about CDU RISING? Apparently, the school is already at $70 million from private donations (of its goal of $75 million). 👀

I heard the new medical school building itself will cost about 100 million. They are still short of their goal so I presume they will continue fundraising until they get there. I think construction is not supposed to start until later this year.

I think that is just what they are allocating to the building thus far. The price is closer to 100 million, but they also talked about making it smaller. Maybe they did. The financial aid office has been pretty quiet, but most CDU students have been consistently told only a few small scholarships will be given out to non-LA residents. Only students from LA are eligible for the LA Care scholarship (I've been told).
