2022-2023 Eastern Virginia

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I interviewed last week and I absolutely love this school post-interview! The interviewers were so warm and inviting, and the questions were a good mix of ethical questions and questions where I was more able to showcase my personality and experiences. My interviewers made sure to stress the emphasis on serving the Hampton Roads community at EVMS, and I was able to expand upon my own experiences serving my community. I’ll be eagerly awaiting a decision over the next month. Good luck to the rest of y’all waiting for a decision! Maybe we’ll matriculate together?

Have interview coming up. Can anyone tell me was it individual (as in just you + interviewers) or was it a group interview (multiple interviewees + interviewers)?

i've sent them pre-II letters! last year i sent an update letter and got an II a few weeks later 🙂
do we just upload them under the document upload section on the secondary app portal? or is there another way to go about sending update letters?

you just email it to the admissions office ([email protected]) and make sure your amcas ID is on the email. they also have always emailed me back to let me know they got it!

I haven't been able to attend one of the Wednesday info sessions due to my work schedule, but have they talked about a timeline to hear back post-interview? I see a wave of decisions went out this week for some late-Oct people. I interviewed the first week of November. Thanks for the help!

Edit: I also felt like this was by far my worst interview so my expectations are very low. Anybody else similar boat?

Yup. Anticipating that R. Think they’re 3-4 weeks for decisions so probably December since next week is a short week due to Thanksgiving.

I felt like that too, but I still got the A. Ik it's hard, but try not to dwell on it too much! You truly don't know until you know.

Very true! At least my hopes aren't up, so I won't be too shocked if I am hit with the juicy R.

anybody know what the waitlist movement is like at this school?

Haven't recieved a II but curious about what the tier is? Could someone explain?

they give you a score based on grades, ECs, interview ratings and split people up into 1st, 2nd, 3rd tier. But the tier you are in does not effect your chances of getting off the waitlist, they pick people from all tiers based on the type of students they want.

Upset I got waitlisted but not surprised. This is my top choice as a VA resident.

I don't think this is correct. If you tier has no effect on your chances than why place applicants in tiers to begin with. Now being placed into the top tier doesn't guarantee you will be pulled off the waitlist and being in the bottom tier doesn't mean you won't be pulled off the waitlist based on past year threads. I saw in past thread that EVMS try to find an applicant that matches demographically with the applicant that withdrew their A, and if they can't find a match in the top tier, they move to the next tier, and so forth. Who knows if that is accurate but it would make no sense if your tiering is based on a score of grades, EC, and interview and then it have no bearing on your chances of being pulled off the waitlist.

II today after sending in an update. The person on the phone said my update caught their attention.

LM 65, OOS, ORM
Damn I sent an update with new publications a month ago and haven’t heard anything :/ I interviewed 2 cycles ago. How long after you sent your update did you get the II? Congrats btw 🙂

You have to email them the update with you aamc number right? Or or there somewhere on the portal. I’m at work so I can’t get on to see. Just curious

Yup, email it to admissions
If you're comfortable sharing, what was the update? Was it a significant achievement or more of a letter to show continued interest?
A pub I am a middle author on was accepted, I just sent them the citation

Just to clarify - they call for IIs? I missed a call but they didn’t leave a VM.

Have any mid October interviewers heard back yet? It's been six weeks of silence for me 😵‍💫

Interviewed here on November 9th. I enjoyed their presentations and student panel, but like many others I felt like my interview didn't allow me to show them who I was. I was so focused on the ethics and health disparities questions that I wasn't in the right mindset to really get conversational or show myself off to the best of my ability when given the chance lol. I was told to expect a decision in 3-4 weeks. Anyone else out there who interviewed around that time?

What were they like? How many interviewees were in attendance / did you participate / was it interactive / did you dress up?
