My current undergrad school is not in California or Texas, but my parents got a job in Texas, hence sold home in California, left California for good and relocated to Texas. Luckily that timeline made me to qualify for Texas resident. I spent two summers in Texas and had the opportunity to volunteer at hospital in Texas during summer. I am not sure whether recent movers are viewed differently. I applied to only 1/2 dozen Out of Texas schools and hoping I will get in Texas med schools. People wise, I don’t see much difference between California and Texas. Texas has some local authentic food, and better Grocery store ( H‑E‑B ). California has better beaches and also access to snow mountain.
