UCLA Wait List Class of 2014

doubt the economy has much to do with people staying at ucla. With cost of living and tuition raises the UCs arent even cheap anymore really. w/o free money they are about the same as many private schools i got into.
In fact some OOS schools ive got into are cheaper then my state😕


That being said the news that the class is full and such to me means the WL is done for the most part🙁. I cant imagine too many people would be withdrawing from UCLA at this point. At least i know i can move on now.
 
I mean more people choosing to go to school in general. I feel like it has been a rough cycle.
But hey, lets not get too down. We knew the class was full right? The waitlist moves when people withdraw and it becomes "un-full." Granted that's been a rare thing this year, but it doesn't mean it's over. Maybe some of those people will get off the waitlist at USCF or HMS and decide to go there. It's a stretch but I can't help hoping.

i've been accepted off the wait-list! wanted to let others know that the wait-list is moving!
 
IS. I interviewed mid April and was waitlisted the last week of May. I just noticed the accepted student checklist online this morning. I last checked my status last Tue or Wed. And I will be accepting their offer. Good luck!

I know your hearts are all probably jumping upon seeing a new post on this thread, but I just wanted to wish all of you good luck! The waiting is going to end in just a few short weeks at the latest and I hope we'll all get the chance to be classmates soon! :xf::luck:
 
starting to give up hope. i'm pretty set on going elsewhere at this point and i'm no longer even sure i'd come here if accepted. it's just getting to that point.

i know how you feel man. I have to make housing plans now so basically im in your spot. Its unfortunate but oh well 🙂. At this point there has to be no chance of getting off the WL. A few spots here and there but id be surprised if there are even 10 eventual spots taht go out over the next few weeks. GL at baylor 🙂. Maybe ucla for residency lol

same here. im now intensifying my apartment hunt and giving up hope on my waitlists.
 
I feel ya guys... looks like four years out east to toughen me up before I come back for residency! :xf:
 
you guys are right, there aren't any spaces in the class and the admissions committee won't even be meeting this week 🙁 I guess I should be happy I don't have to decide between my dream school and a full scholarship. Still sad though. 🙁

if you read above the posts by island princess youll see the update which isnt so great news. This was only 2 days ago.
 
is it just me or does this cycle seem like an all time low? it feels like they barely accepted pepo off the waitlist this year considering that there were 200-300 pepo waitlisted initially... either that... or everyone accepted off the wl are not sdners.....

the admission office has told me and others on the phone its been very very slow this year. Not much you can do i guess just unlucky for us. He did say there will be some more movement for sure but not a lot or something along those lines. By now most of us are probably committed elsewhere but gl to those of you able to wait it out or waiting for the 1st acceptance.
 
I opened a letter that I received in the mailbox, and suddenly my eyes went blurry. All I could see was the word, ACCEPTED, emblazoned extravagantly across the page. My heart stopped...

And then I woke up.

hahahahaha!!!! im sorry, but that's funny and sad at the same time :bang:.... i had that same dream about a month ago (not the exact same thing tho-i dreamt that someone from adcom told me- but ya... dreams aren't supposed to make sense)... well... hope that you are still happy with wherever you're going next year... and still best of luck to you!
 
Oh man... I had that dream too. I know its getting late and chances are slim, but I still have hope. I've started my application for next year already. I'll probably submit it by the middle of the month. I'm trying to stay distracted by packing. I drive from Florida to California in a few days! Woohoo!
 
Called today just for the hell of it before booking my flight east. According to the person I talked to, there are at this point about 100 people on the waitlist and no vacancies. Should spaces open up, they accept up until the first day of classes, etc, etc, but I think we're nearing the end of the line.

im heading for einstein.... how bout you rush? n haha... i guess this is turning into a consolation forum for those of us who feel rejected by la....
 
at least we all have somewhere to go at this point. Ucla was my numbe one as it was for most of us. But in a year I doubt any of us will even care well be so busy🙂
 
Anybody else on another waitlist? I'm still sitting on UCSD but at this point I think I'm pretty committed to Cornell. Sunny, congrats on Einstein! I just got my rejection a few weeks ago.

Maybe a bunch of people will suddenly get full scholarships off the Harvard waitlist. Otherwise, I don't imagine anyone at UCLA has their fingers crossed for someplace else.
 
thanks echidna! can't believe that you got into cornell and wl at la and sd, but got rejected from einstein.... but who knows... i don't think any of else will ever understand the selection process.........

yep its just weird. I think all of us have situations like that where X school didnt do anything for you but X top 20 school interviewed/accepted you. Its good its like that and not so horribly striated like law school or something. At least i think so. Otherwise it would just be a straight gpa/mcat game.

anyways i was curious does anyone know if you can call ucla and ask them about what was wrong with your app that you didnt get in. I know its counterproductive and all that since im already in at another school. But my curiousity makes me want to just figure out what i did wrong to never get off the WL. If there are only 100 or so people on the WL and according to the people on the phone about 200 were waitlisted, i would say there was actually decent movement this year just apparently most of us on this thread were in the bottom tiers.
 
I'm pretty sure it was my rotten interview. I mean, wow. I was shocked I didn't get a straight rejection. It was like 10 minutes long and I remember thinking "what the hell just happened?" on my way out. Luck of the draw I guess.
 
Don't lose hope all...I just got accepted off the UCLA WL months after I thought this had ceased to be a possibility. I will be withdrawing from UCSD so that will open up a spot there.

Not sure it's what made the difference, but I was VERY aggressive in conveying my interest to UCLA, even after I felt my cause was lost. Sent additional letters of rec, update letters, interest letters, even some other creative materials...

Good luck all, may you all end up somewhere that makes you (and those you serve) happy 🙂

Congrats! When did you send these updates? I sent in 2 LORs and updates after the deadline.

Also, were you called and told you got in off the waitlist or was it a online update or snail mail?

I sent in a LOI and an extra letter from my PI after May 15th but I admit I haven't been as aggressive as I could have been. But who knows, maybe there are still a few spots open 👍
 
I sent stuff in up until about early June, then (based largely on what I read on this forum) thought it was a lost cause and became very happy with UCSD. Then all of a sudden I got a call on Friday, and they told me they were sending a letter that day. Indeed, very stoked.

I believe what's happening is schools above UCLA (eg Harvard) are accepting students, which creates openings at UCLA, which they then must fill pronto. So I figure maybe it was my being so clear about UCLA as my #1 that made them contact me, but then again it could have nothing to do with any of the materials I sent after the secondary, who knows really is a true saying in this game...

But good luck to you all wherever you end up, this year or next...

PS it had appeared to me that my status applicant page had been deactivated or something, but what is happening is you need to pull down to class of 2010 from class of 2011 in order to view your status. It's just that they've now started with the class of 2011 so your file won't exist under that heading...
