AHHHHH just got an interview to Feinberg!!! I am SO excited 😀 I've been checking my email like crazy lately specifically for this school!

For those of you still waiting: I submitted my secondary 8/5 (~20 min before the deadline!), submitted my LORs 8/26, and was complete on the status page on 9/4.

congrats! what dates did they offer you?
NM: looked at your mdapps

I chose 11/11. But they also offered me 10/24 (vandy that day), 11/14 (Pitt that day), and 11/18.

just came back home from my IU interview and saw the Northwestern interview invite email. they "encouraged" picking my date the same day the email was received...

so yeah, interview on Friday 10/17, two days from now lol...

congrats desice!

I was complete 9/19 I think...so i'm hoping for any response in 1.5 - 2 weeks from today? What do you guys think?

no guarantees, i was complete 8/12 and havn't heard anything...

thanks!

when you guys say complete, do you mean your letters+secondary are in? My secondary was completed end of august i think, but my letters weren't posted on virtualevals until sept 19. i don't remember if northwestern gave an update saying when they downloaded my letters and started reviewing my app. my best guess would be to give it three weeks after they've downloaded your letters before a response.

northwestern status page tells you when you are complete, it should say Submitted (date), and Complete (date)

So if we have been in school continuously are we allowed to talk about activities that occured during the summertime or only during the academic year? I have spent many years working at a summer camp and this experience was quite formative for me. Am I allowed to discuss this experience for question 3?

I would, and I did. If it was a formative experience and influenced your decision to become a doctor, then do it.
I don't have a NWstern interview tho, so take this advice for what it is worth.

Anybody else been complete since about 7/30 and not hear anything yet? I'm contemplating sending a letter of interest since this is a top choice for me.

Complete on 8/9 with zero news 🙁

I must admit, that panel interview thing was... different. It went okay, but damn, haha.

It was a waste of time.

The funniest moment, though, was with this one guy. No matter what question he was asked, he would Palin it into "and that's why I'm a great fit for Northwestern." Now, if it was sensible, sure, but this guy side-stepped every question (hence, Palin) and just went on these ridiculously obvious tangents, always ending it with that sentence. At one point, I looked over at the second guy sitting beside me, and saw him momentarily lose his composure and roll his eyes in disgust.

I hope they can see through that BS like they claim they can, because I don't even try with that stuff. It just isn't me. I answer the questions how I feel is appropriate, now how I think they think is appropriate.

You and me both. If I could see through it, and the guy beside me could, I sincerely hope they could as well. Then again, maybe we're more cynical and jaded because we're in competition with these people. I don't know.

My favorite was they asked him to name something he didn't like about XYZ position, and he couldn't do so, and then went into talking about how much he loved every aspect of it and that's why he'd be a great fit. *groan*

We talked about SDN on my panel interview. really, the dude was just like "ok, raise your hands, how many of you read studentdoctor. what have you heard about this panel interview"

it was amusing

Edit: Oh, and if you happen to be my interviewer and reading this, hi!

I'm nervous about this panel interview...

For those of you who've participated in it, does each applicant get asked individual questions or are you all asked the same question and everyone has to compete to get a word in? Or a bit of both? I can deal with either, but I want to know what I'm in for!

And that's why I'm a good fit for Northwestern. 🙄

Same here. Lol. They asked us if we thought SDN "corrupted the interview process."

A couple weeks ago, I received a letter from the Office of Cultural and Minority Affairs to apply. Did anybody else receive the same?

On another note, I went ahead and re-certified my primary a couple weeks ago. Yesterday, I received my link to the secondary application, which will be due Nov. 11th.

lol - same thing happened to me. i'm thinking, "couldn't they have told me this back in august?!" 🙄

Does anyone know Northwestern's timeline for accepting? How long after your interview / rolling or not / one lump date / etc?

I know they told us, but I was really sick at my interview and my meds had started to wear off by the end of the day and I kept zoning out during the final information session.

Thanks!

Hey all. Anyone else having problems logging in to the status page? I tried a few time just now and got error messages. Thanks!

At the end of my interview day, I asked them and they said 6-8 weeks after your interview. My question is: has anyone received a decision (i.e. those who interview early September)?

Yes! I couldn't log in either and was afraid that I was rejected and had been put out of the system or something. Good to see others are having problems, I guess it's just down.

No, the first ones go out end of November.

i believe the first non-edp interviews were in mid october.

edit: Northwestern does not have edp, sorry

I didn't think Northwestern had an early decision program?

Last year the acceptances went out in 2 batches. A small group was accepted at the end of November and a larger group was accepted in February or March. I'm not sure if it will be done differently this year.

I just got an interview invite last night. I was SURPRISED! I was only complete on 26 Oct!

That is like 2 weeks! So dont lose hope!

FYI, I am a non-trad w/ 34L MCAT, ~3.9 GPA's, minimal clinical experience but have 5+ years as a military officer.

I am very excited good luck to everyone!

congrats! 34mcat and 3.9gpa is amazing for a nontrad, and i'm sure the military officer experience would be more than enough as service/leadership, good luck at the interview!

Thanks! I'll let you guys know how it goes!

I searched the posts from last year to find out exactly when November decisions were sent out, and I ended up reading this long and crazy thread about a fake email sent to applicants from a bad egg in the admissions office around this time of year. The email said they were "not worthy" of Northwestern and that "sleeping with the head of admissions will not grant you acceptance," stuff like that. Wacky! You can read about it here:

Anyhoo, November decisions didn't go out until early December last year, probably due in part to the fake email fiasco. I was told in my interview last month that we could expect to hear sometime around MID-November about early acceptances, but that most will hear back in March. Fingers crossed.

Haha I just read the first few pages of that fiasco. Quite entertaining!

Isn't it?

If I was the prankster, I would have done a better job... the e-mail was so obviously fake! He could have really messed with the applicants if he had made it less wacky.

acceptances are released in two batches? I was told eight weeks after my interview date

what position did this pamela hold before she left?

I wish they would go ahead and reject me post-secondary already..

why, what if you get an interview in march and they let you in. might as well hold out hope until you are actually rejected! 👍

According to the admissions website:

"After an applicant has participated in an interview day at the Feinberg School, the application file is returned to the Committee on Admissions. At that time, each member of the Committee fully reviews the file, including the interview evaluations. Final admissions decisions are reached and released twice during the application year: in late November and late February. Interviewed applicants receive a final admissions decision no later than March 1 of each year."

Linguini,
how did your interview go on tuesday? I have mine on Friday 11/14 and am curious how you thought it went. Was it pretty typical or were there some stumpers? Any insight you could provide would be awesome. Tips welcome also!
Cheers! karate monkey

I thought it went well! I loved the school 😀 as I thought that I would. The individual interview is pretty standard (20-30 min, updates to your application, why medicine, why northwestern, etc etc). The panel interview was unusual but really nothing to stress over as the interviewers are very friendly (2 faculty, 1 4th year). The questions my group received were not too difficult (e.g. what experience has prepared you best to be a doctor, how would your friends describe you) and the group question was kind of fun. Then you have a chance to ask them questions, which you should prepare. The interviewers just want to see that you can think on your toes and interact with your peers. Northwestern promotes a lot of collaboration in their curriculum, so they are concerned with how you work with others.

As for my preparation, I did a significant amount of research on the school and thought ad nauseam about why I'd be a good match for NU (I was asked this in my individual interview). I looked over the interview feedback section but didn't really prepare answers for specific questions (you may consider doing this as the panel interviewers tend to repeat questions). I also had a solid foundation of knowledge on health care and bioethics as a result of preparing for prior interviews.

I hope you enjoy your interview day! Good luck.

I've been complete here since 8/21. My online status still says "complete and under review." Has anyone called the admissions office re: interview invites with any success?

They are up. I got my e-mail a few hours ago. Very excited!!! Good luck to all.

has anyone with a summer MCAT (july on) gotten an interview yet?
