has anyone been completed yet? i mailed my app in almost 2 weeks ago and haven't heard a thing...

You may wanna check to see they received your app and LORs. The reason I say that is because... my LORs were received ~9/1. I mailed my app priority and they got it the very next day. They also marked me complete that very same day.

You might wanna check that your other documentations are in.

How do I check my status?

You can't. They will inform you of any status change. You can call, but I don't knwo if they are receptive to that.

has anyone heard anything from STony and was completed on or after 9/3 ?
ho wlong do they take anyway?

I know you asked for anyone after 9/3 to reply but I haven't heard anything and I was complete in Aug!!

finally an interview invite today!! complete 8/18, II 9/29
btw, the person that emailed me had an address of [email protected], so it got send to my junk mailbox. Make sure you don't throw it away!

I received an afternoon interview and I was wondering if anyone knew how long they generally take. I was wondering what was the general time people got out. I need to catch a flight out and i know that traffic on the LIE can be pretty killer during rush hour.

I got out around 2:30pm.

Here is to hoping everyone who interviewed already gets the overnight package on the 16th!!! :luck::luck:

CA Resident 33/3.75 with an II on 10/10/08, I'll be interviewing on 11/7.

I'm S-U-P-E-R excited about this interview! Considering my #1 local choice gave me the thumbs down, I think SUNY Stony Brook may be my new #1.

Anyway, so I've heard that they interview about 500 ppl, 50 of which are OOS. Then they accept about 350, 25 of which are OOS? Is this correct? (Of course actual matriculation numbers are much lower) Can I expect about 50% probability of getting in now that I've got the interview?

here are the number from USNEWS,
Total admissions data 3531 applied, 597 interviewed, 292 were accepted, 116 enrolled
In-state admissions data 2040 applied, 498 interviewed, 246 were accepted, 102 enrolled
Out-state admissions data 1491 applied, 99 interviewed, 46 were accepted, 14 enrolled

So ya it looks like as OOS'ers we are really lucky to have received interviews and at this point our chances are close to a coin flip. I grew up on long island, and my sister graduated stony brook ugrad, hopefully some of that plays into my favor, I loved stonybrook!

Those look like incredible numbers to me. So, I'd have to guess that if those numbers hold and as long as I don't bomb my interview, if I were to send a post interview letter of intent I'd have a good chance of getting in.

Maybe I'll see you in '09 as Stony Brook C/O 2013? 😀 👍

does the overnight acceptance package come on the 15th or the 16th?

for those who have interviewed, heard anything yet?

yeah. same here. i'm keeping my mailbox refreshing. nothing so far. i guess that's good. 3 more hours to go.

anyone hear anything yet? I am losing my mind waiting for the delivery man who may never come!

no email. no delivery.

ok i just called the admissions office. they say it can take "a couple of months" for them to make decision. so i guess that means more waiting. what a bummer. i was expecting to hear something today.

LOL WHAT 🙁 I was expecting today too!!!

they told me my application hasn't even gone to the committee yet... more waiting for me.

When did you interview? I interviewed 10/10 and the lady made it seem like we'd be hearing today.... but i've heard nothing so far.

i was waiting all day until i called and they told me that the commitee hasen't reached a decision yet. has anyone heard from them yet?

I interviewed 9/18. Was told my file hasn't been sent to the committee yet. that's slow compared to previous years.

Yeah, I interviewed 9/25 and I thought it was made fairly clear from them that we'd likely be hearing something one way or another around 10/16. bummer

has anyone out there heard from stony ?

anyone heard yet? (just reviving the thread)

not yet. admissions told me it takes up to two months. (which I guess means three months?)
Ahhhhhh! I hope by the time I have my interview it doesn't take 3 more months to get a decision--I'll be going absolutely insane unless I've picked up quite a few more interviews. Having only 1 interview is a bit scary to me at this point!

anyone know what is taking them so long ?

hi everyone,

I am a california resident and have an interview at Stony. I haven't scheduled my interview yet due to a busy sched (work/school/2 interviews)... the thing is i already bought my plane tickets to the other schools for interviews on the 17th and 20th of nov...

Now, I am just wondering .... should i just interview asap?

bc if the ADcom takes 2 months to "come to a decision," then i could possibly interview later on... say january?

If it is less advantageous to interview later... then i will just change my flight plans to include stony....

What do you guys think?

I should just call the interview coordinator huh?

do u know which dates r still available? i scheduled a while back and i'm interviewing mid november...then again, i skiped over a few dates in late oct. my point is that they might not have nov. dates left anyways. I'd call and see which dates would fit best into your schedule.

How do you schedule an interview? I just got the invite but they didn't suggest any dates... should I just throw some dates at them? If I reply that I'm interested do they suggest dates?

thanks Pooh.

haha.

anyway... i just scheduled for the 25th of november.... just getting paranoid about all of this... so i just sched for that date.

QTLyss. to schedule and interview, you need to email Nancy Acevado.. the Interview-Coordinator. Just ask her what dates are available...

Actually, I just spoke w/ Nancy, and as of now, the available dates are NOV 20th, 24th, 25th, and any Tues/Thurs/Friday in DECEMBER until the 19th of DEC. GOOD luck Lyss!!!

Hey all,

Just got an interview invite too! Hopefully I'll see some of you guys on interview day!

good luck fuz!!

what day will you sched? Look at my previous post for the available dates.

hey man. when are you interviewing? I am from OOS, SoCal if thats where you are from... so hopefully we both do well there in Stony...

oh btw.... ATTENTION: whoever is interviewing on the 25th at stony.... who is down to drink afterward!!?

What's your stats?

I guess I might as well give up: NY resident, 29 MCAT; 3.7 science; 3.65 overall, research, shadowing, standard stuff & unique EC..........................

I think you have a good chance. good stats and resident so... don't worry too much.

good luck up coming interviewees...I'm still waiting on their decision from my interview in sept., it is driving me nuts!

good luck fuz!!

what day will you sched? Look at my previous post for the available dates.

good luck to you too buddy!

looks like i'm down for the 25th.. the other dates are interview days for me. HOPEFULLY its still open by tomorrow!

~3.75ish GPA
33 MCAT
> 1K lab hours.
Decent EC's
CA Resident (<-- amazingly, I've heard NOTHING from CA schools... in fact SUNY Stony Brook is my only interview? I'm happy though. I think it'd be a great experience to relocate to NY. I've been stuck in CA my whole life and I want something different!)

Don't give up yet, its still early (at least I hope!).
hey man. when are you interviewing? I am from OOS, SoCal if thats where you are from... so hopefully we both do well there in Stony...

I interview next week. And yeah, I'm also from So Cal. But, like I said, I'd totally love to leave CA and have a different life experience. 👍 I think they accept about half of their OOS interviewee's, so I'll cross my fingers for the both of us. Stony Brook c/o 2013 sounds pretty great to me!

Where does Stony Brook rank for you (out of your realistic schools)? I personally already have it toward the top for me. Low tuition, great location (suburban, next to ocean, and also 40 mins from NYC! Its got a bit of everything), the program would go well with my learning style, and most importantly I've heard amazing things about the faculty.

All dates in Nov are gone.. I took the earliest ones are in Dec.

thangguylon, would love to have a drink, but it seems that it wont be possible at the moment. Good luck though!!!

what others are you going on?

I think Stony would be a top choice for me too...and just for the reasons you mentioned... OOS tuition will still be high.

You know what.... I haven't HEARD ANYTHING from any cali schools either.... strange for us to hear from a SUNY and not UC huh?....

BTW, does anyone have lodging for Stony Brook or want to split the cost? I am interviewing there on the 25th of NOV.

Actually, Stony is inexpensive! 33k for first year, but after 1 yr (as long as you don't live on the dorms and as long as you can claim independent) you get state tuition of 18k/yr. 😀

Very strange... what are your stats?
