Has anyone had the $100 check cashed in yet?

has anyone received a complete here?! maybe they just aren't used to sending one 😎

Yea...over a week ago...but I have yet to hear anything else in terms of my application's status

Argh when did you send yours? I sent a bunch on the 9th. Louisville got theirs on the 13th and it posted on the 20th. 😡

I sent them an email and they finally emailed me back to say they received everything.

ReidMike said they confirmed receiving all of his application items...

I returned my application July 2nd...my check was cashed July 17th...

I returned my app in june and still nothing. It happens it seems. I wouldnt worry too much.

You have to email them for a status check. Worked for me and reidmike, it seems.
ive sent them 4 emails about different topics and my status, nothing. Im just going to not care anymore lol. Im getting tired of RFU and their no contact policy.

I sent them an email inquiring about my status...it's been 4/5 days. Nothing!

And my check still hasn't been cashed...hmmm.

I just mailed mine in today. Once they cash my check I'm going to assume I'm complete and stop thinking about them until they contact me or people start getting contacted about interviews.

I have called the school so many times and not a single person there seems to know what life in discovery is........ go school 🙁. Can somone who has sent in the application explain what exactly is life in discovery? I have read the book and saw the video, but seems to have hard time griping the defination or what they mean by it.

You have to dig down for some Eric Cartman level BS...

"Yes, well. For my project, I made a pencil, taped to a pen. In this way we see the duality of writing devices that occur in nature."

Good luck!

you called the school and asked for the answer to the secondary question? really?:wtf:

I think half the point is that they don't clearly define it anywhere otherwise everyone' essay would be the same ("I think life in discovery is *insert URL*"). You're supposed to write about what it means to you. So if you think it means that you have to earn your PhD to be living a Life in Discovery, then that's what it means. If you think it means you have to discover life on another planet, then there you go... Its not clearly defined for a REASON.

EXACTLY, just find a way to make your own interpretation.

ahha southpark, what cant you learn from that show 🙂

I still need to mail this. Hopefully that doesn't kill me... had some printer issues... hate paper applications, even if the online ones ARE a bit buggy this year.

Yea i hate mail apps. Had to go and buy one of those larger envelopes and get special postage for it. Ended up paying like $10 to mail mine from where i live (south milwaukee) to the school in North Chicago. I mean thats like a 20 minute drive, wtf, i can send a 10 pound wieght from Hawaii to South Africa for cheaper than that.

How long after getting verified did you recieve this secondary?? I still haven't gotten it yet =(

I received the secondary exactly 8 days after being verified. I would say that if you don't receive it within 2 weeks of verification, you should definitely e-mail them. Hope this helps 🙂

I mailed mine from California for $0.44.

They must have mailed theirs like overnight or something. I mailed mine for 1.00 and most of that was because the cardboard envelope weighed more than anything

Seriously guys, the life in discovery thing isn't that hard.

It doesn't mean you have to write a Roselin Franklin autobiography.
It doesn't mean you have to write about how Roselin Franklin lived a life in discovery.
It should just be a simple "what does discovery mean to you" really, its that easy.

Do you think a life in discovery is a life spent discovering things in a lab? Maybe its a life spent discovering the secret to happiness through the work you do? Perhaps a life spent discovering ways to help patients?

Or just write about a life spent using 'Discover' credit card. Lol. Seriously though, go wherever you want with this. Stop watching movies, calling the school, reading Roselin franklin books, going through websites, etc. It's a very simply personal views question. Thats it.

Premed neuroticism at its best.

I finally sat myself down and wrote the Life in Discovery essay. It ended up really random, with me drawing the conclusion that one of my crafty hobbies taught me the same lessons as my research. Maybe it'll make me stand out? Or they'll think I'm psycho...

Either way, I'm finally almost caught up with the secondaries I've received! one more with three essays and then I'm caught up. I'm feeling accomplished.

they really need to have some kind of status update for us! i havent heard anything here, for all i know my mail could have been eaten by a dog!

guess they dont want us to "discover" anything about this one 😉

Hey guys, am I the only one who never heard anything from them? I don't know if I'm even complete or not...

I sent them an email and they finally emailed me back to say they received everything.

What did you say in the email you sent them? I don't want to sound obnoxious... but I would like to know that my application is complete.

IMO I wouldn't call them unless they have cashed your check. if they have not obviously you are not complete...

If they have cashed it I would say go for it 🙂

did anyone actually get a complete email without calling or emailing?

My Life In Discovery is about sacrificing my life trying to discover when they are going to read my secondary, when they will cash my check, when they will email me saying that my file is complete, when they will answer my emails, and when they will get on board with the application process and be like a normal medical school.:bang::wtf:

maybe they haven't discovered that most people do online apps now-a-days

"Dear Applicant,
This email is to notify you that we have received your CMS supplemental application and application fee."

guys, you might wanna hold off on insulting adcoms because ya know... they might be reading this and....

I don't think they are insulting Adcoms. I think they are expressing frustration at how slow the process seems to be at this particular school.

That being said, I just mailed this, and have no complaints, but I am not the neurotic type at all. They could take a month to notifiy me and I doub't I'd be too upset.

But yes, it is wise to contain frustration, Adcoms are free to view these forums.

its not liek adcoms can really find out who you are unless you just spell it out on mdapps and then link to to your fb or something.

For some of us it is pretty easy. There is enough of my past endeavors on here and the combination of schools I am applying to wouldn't make it too hard to figure out who I am.

Then again, I try not to post anything I wouldn't say in real life anyways.

complete emails exist from rosalind franklin?! i emailed 5 times and called 3 times just to check if they have received my application and no response at all...what is with this school?
