I sent them an email a week ago asking if they received my secondary which I mailed on 7/6. They replied quickly and said they received it, and would be sending me an email when my app is complete, which I have yet to receive. I see people on here however who sent their secondary later than mine and already received complete emails. This definitely does seem random

Indeed. They just cashed my check and its been a while. Let's hope my complete email comes sooner.

They are slow on emails...they said im complete like 2 weeks ago, and yet i have not recieved a complete email yet. Its no worries they are just slow or busy it seems.

complete!!! Mailed in around 7/20. Cash checked 8/6, complete 8/56

beggars may not be choosers

second that 👍

Either way I don't believe in judging a school based on a couple of isolated incidents. If things were really that bad there and brought out in the open, I would surely choose not to attend there given another option.

Having said that, I must add for the n'th time on this thread that I am not a fan of their paper secondaries and they could clearly move to an online system given how much their applications cost and the # of people that apply.

So I believe there are two essay questions for this school. Are the following questions their essay questions? What are the character limit for each one? Thanks!

Even though the boxes on the pdf look small they can fit about 2400-3000 characters in them because when you type/paste your response in them the font is much smaller than what you would expect.

My essays were closer to the upper limit. Hope this helps!

Got a big fat envelope from RFU today....it was my returned secondary and a letter asking me to sign the check, which I forgot to do when I sent it. Awesome.

Ouch. Very ouch.

how much did you guys write for the secondary essay? Mine is about 1500 characters but there is still a lot of room left. I don't want the adcom to think that I am slacking off or anything.

Don't worry about it. Say what you need to say and don't write any more. I don't think any adcom member will hold it against you after his 3000th application.

I know it's been said 1000 times already, but as always "quality over quantity". 1500 characters is fine if you were able to make your point and keep the reader interested. Unless your an amazing writer, I wouldn't try to fill the page for the sake of filling it.

I think ive said thise 20 times...im going to put it as my new sig lol

I did the same thing but remembered that I didn't sign the check, so I resent my secondary with a signed check, (as instructed by the admissions women I contacted over the phone).

I added this school a week ago, how long did it take you guys to get your secondary invite?

How did you guys mail this in? Big hard envelope? Or did you just fold it into a regular one?

You mail the printed version of the PDF + photo + cheque right?

i put it all in a small envelope. no reason to spend the extra money if you ask me!

big envelope, but doesnt matter, fold it into a small envelope, or pay 5 bucks for priority mail  both are fine.

FINALLY got the complete email.... I sent this sucker out more than a month ago

I sent it over a month ago too and still haven't gotten a complete email. They were quick on cashing my check though....

Yeah I hadn't either, but then I emailed them and got the complete email the next day. I guess they only do they amount of work that they need to.

I did email them once though prolly about 2 weeks ago? So maybe try emailing as well.

I've received several complete emails from RF over the past few days. Maybe some of them were supposed to go to you guys instead 😀

Don't hog them all! 😛

This also sort of happened to me, except that they sent my app back AFTER they had cashed my perfectly legit check (which I complained about a few pages ago).
I talked to them and sent my app back post-haste, and today got a "complete" email.
Even though they screwed up, they were very quick to help me out and get things sorted! Thanks, RFU.

Finally bunkered down and wrote these two essays.

When's the earliest people get interviews?

did you guys get this secondary immediately after you submitted amcas?

I was verified 6/28 and I added RFU a week ago but I haven't heard back, is this normal?

thanks

I was verified mid June and applied for RFU back in June and still haven't gotten their secondary. I think they're just very slow.

Also, does anyone know what the campus is like? I find it sketchy that I can't find a single picture of their campus on their website, not even in their viewbook. Is it in a more dangerous part of town? Because that + their slowness in getting the secondary to me is making me re-consider even applying.

just got complete notice in the mail. submitted the secondary more than a month ago

so i guess it just takes some time...

Holy crap, I got an email today saying I'm complete now. I just sent everything in yesterday by FedEx. They are (or can be) fast!

I'm in-state, BTW.

Glad to know I'm not the only one.😳

Yeah, to be perfectly honest, I hate to make negative comments about a school, but if this is the only school I get into, I may consider reapplying. It just seems sooo sketch compared to other schools!!

it's not in a dangerous part of town. north chicago gets a little dicey farther north, but the campus is situated basically right in the center of the great lakes naval station/communities, so it feels pretty safe.

the campus is nothing too impressive though. there are just a few academic buildings, which are all just kinda "there" (they aren't necessarily aesthetically pleasing but they don't hurt the eyes either). the dorms are just blah from the outside as well, but the rooms are very large and very nice. the best part about the campus is that right behind the dorms there is this small lake with benches around it (technically part of the VA which lies immediately to the north) and a small area of wild-grass.

Does anyone know what the maximum number of LORs they accept? I tried contacting them but had no luck! Thanks.

I called the admissions around 8/3, and they said there's no official maximum limit on the # of LORs. However, the lady said you shouldn't send too many b/c the adcom may just rush right through your stronger letters, i.e. too many letters would dilute your stronger letters. So it's good to put the letters in order of importance (not sure if you can do that on AMCAS).

I asked if 6 is ok (my max), and she said 6 is reasonable. Just be reasonable in your # of letters, like around 5 in my opinion.

called them up and got confirmation that i'm complete, lady marked my app as complete over the phone. they must be backlogged a lot cuz it said they got my app 7/27.

I also called them up because there were one of the schools that never got back to me even though I sent my secondary more than a month ago.

The lady checked over my application and then said it is complete and apparently also changed the status right on the phone, then sending me an email. She says that they have a lot of applications so they are behind. But after being complete she said now I am submitted for the screening process so I guess everyone should call to make sure they are complete.
