I was accepted today to. I interviewed on 12/14 and was accepted 12/22. I wondered if this was uncommonly fast? Also I had a handwritten note on my acceptance letter from the dean and was wondering if anyone else had experienced this as well?

Also, from what I understand you can't hold a spot their? If you accept you are promising to matriculate?

Thanks guys!!

Congrats.
It seems the committee reviews all interviews from the past month at the following meeting, so this would vary depending how soon before the meeting you happened to interview.

I think so.

No, the rules are the same as any other AAMC school.

do they email you about acceptances or do you have to wait for a letter to come via snail mail?

Got an interview invite today. I've been small pooled since 11/2, so glad to get out of it. There were dates from Jan 11th to Feb 23rd.

Could be April for me if I'm interviewed at all! Wow. This was the last app I got out, officially complete on the 30th November.

I'm insanely excited to have gotten an interview invite today, my second in all! Woohoo! Question is, does anyone think it matters if I try and interview on 1/25 vs 1/11? I know it's rolling, and it sounds like no one truly knows how often they review their interviewees, so this may just be speculation.

I would love to go here, sounds like a great school! My only concern is, someone told me that they don't have very good residency placements. Is that true, I guess compared nationally?

Also, I just looked into the tuition, eep! They offer any sort of scholarships?

Thanks for your input, and good luck to everyone!!😎😀:xf::xf:

The only difference interviewing earlier is that I heard they only meet once a month, so you may be before that cutoff, but who knows I doubt it would be a huge difference in getting accepted.

Looking at that match list I would say that Rosalind Franklin matches very well and I wouldn't be worried about residency placements going to this school. And besides residency matching is more about the individual than the school they go to.

They usually meet once a month at the end of the month. So lets say you go in there and KILL it on the 11th, you may hear sooner than if you go in and KILL it on the 25th. Is it going to make a HUGE difference? prob not

i interview on the 11th, hope to hear good news soon after that. but like previously posted, unless the committee meets before the 25th, it really won't make a big difference.

Were you small-pooled at all?

i was smalled pooled in late october i believe. don't have the email anymore. i chose a later interview date because of schedule conflicts in the other available dates

Were you small-pooled at all?

I think so, on December 1st I got an email saying, "Your file is complete and has passed a primary screening. This means you are in the pool of applicants who may be invited to interview with CMS." Is that the small-pool email? Does it matter if people get small-pooled or not?

Thanks to everyone who responded!

Just received confirmation for a Jan 25 interview. Will probably be flying out Jan 24 from San Francisco. Any other interviewees interested in sharing a cab or maybe even a hotel room. I know it sounds kinda sketchy but damn I AM BROKE and DESPERATE 🙂 Moreover, does anyone know if they do student housing night prior? Thank you in advance.

well i got another hold in December. I interviewed back in Oct. I really would like to go to school here. its like 25 mins from my home. i hope i could get accepted here. so far most people that i know got accepted pretty soon or had at least a one month hold before acceptance. i just don't want to get rejected from here. it seems like the best chance you have for an acceptance is soon after your interview. to all those put on small pooled, at least you guys have a chance to interview. and to those that will interview good luck. i thought my interview went well here, and i wish i could have gotten an acceptance sooner.

My application was completed 11/10, if I was still a candidate should I have received a small pool e-mail or interview request?

not necessarily.
it's not over till they say it's over

i still haven't heard a thing except that i'm in the primary process. will they notify me when they're done with the initial review??

Same here...still nothing. I just sent them all my updated information

Just got small pooled. Complete 10/28. Didn't even know they were still considering me

I was complete 10/26 and just got the email that I passed the primary screening yesterday.

I thought they don't take updates?

I sent my information under recommendation of my academic adviser. This is due to the fact that I am enrolled in a graduate programs and most schools would like to see my research and grades for fall semester. Whether or not they choose to view it, I guess is up to them.

i think they do accept updates in terms of grades whether it is before or after interview. the reason why i say you may have a good chance if your in the small group for interview, is that once you get an interview and it goes pretty good, then you could get an acceptance within a month or two. Most people I know got accepted either right away or a month or two after getting a hold. ive so far recieved three hold mails which is getting me somewhat worried. 🙁

Can anyone with an MSAR verify this information from RFUs website?
Ave MCAT 29.15P
GPA: 3.45
SGPA: 3.39

Seems a little lower than I expected... is RFU less selective than Loyola, Rush or UIC?

Actually the numbers for GPA and MCAT have increased, which is the same for all schools. I guess if you could get into one of those schools you could get into most others. One reason i would like togo to RFU is I could save money by not living on campus. Another reason why not alot of people choose RFU is that it doesn't have a teaching hospital like Loyola and UIC or most other med schools.

I guess if you do decide to not want to go here, it would be pretty helpful to withdraw your application, so that those wanting to go here can get a better chance.

I withdrew my application before I submitted the secondary; my bank account was so empty I never had the chance to send the $100.00 check... Congrats to everyone accepted!

any idea how much these numbers have increased?

For RFU the MCAT is about 30 and GPA is more than 3.5. I was hoping more students who have been accepted here or just don't want to go here withdraw. That opens space for students that do want to go there.

If your stats are pretty much above these numbers then you have a good chance of at least getting an interview here.

if your stats are above the average, what are your chances for acceptance? assuming you have some decents extracurricular activities. does rfu place more emphasis on your academic record or extracurricular activities when deciding who to admit?

i would say if your stats are good, then you would have a good chance of an acceptance. like any other school, RFU looks at the whole applicant. They take both into consideration.

good luck to you all. I know they make decisions once a month. I don't know how many students they accept each month, but they interview until May. I think anywhere in the cycle you have a good chance of getting accepted here. your best chance for an acceptance would be i think one or two months since you interview. i know some students have been accepted after several months of hold, and im hoping to be one of those.

Is there a second look weekend here? I'm thinking no..but anyone hear anything?

Are interview invites sent out during the end of the month (when adcom meets) or randomly whenever?

Interviews are generally given anytime from September upto April, and they interview until May. The committee typically meets once a month. I would assume for January they would meet near the end, and we should expect to hear something by the first week of Feb. But for every other month, the committee does meet once a meet. Usually, the decision could be an acceptance, a hold, or rejection. And the numbers for Rosalind have increased to 3.6 GPA and 30 on MCAT. If you meet these numbers, expect to get an interview here.

So this school typically takes about 3 months to do the preliminary review.
So for someone complete in January. They'd expect to small-pool in like... April?

Hey all. I'm a current M1 at RFU and I just wanted to clear up a little of the confusion about the numbers. This school is very tricky when it comes to the numbers because not many people know about the composition of the average class.

Even though there are about 180 people in our current class, not all of them were applying right out of college (including me). RFU has something called the BMS program (it's an SMP for those of you who are familiar with the idea) where you take about half of the M1 class load and apply for admission into the school at the end of the year. A lot of the people in that program are out of state kids with good stats that couldn't get admittance in any of their in-state programs due to the volume of applicants (i.e. California). However, the GPA of RFU is typically brought down by this group and probably the MCAT as well. Last year there were upwards of 70 BMS people that were accepted and are now counted as part of the class statistics.

So, those GPA and MCAT stats may look low but don't be fooled into thinking it's an easier school to get into. Most of the traditional students I've met in my class this year that didn't go through the BMS program had excellent stats and acceptances at multiple schools.

small-pooled 1 month ago - waiting...........😴

i wonder if there was anyone last year who was complete in january who got preliminary reviewed in time for the end of the interview season.
