Put on hold today ugh. Interviewed on Feb 1st.

same boat as you man (or woman?) on hold post-interview (1/26), kind of a bummer, that's 2 schools. I'm getting kind of worried, plus I REALLY loved this school after seeing their campus and meeting everyone (even the interviewees that day, all very friendly people!). I guess it's better than rejection/waitlisting, but still very concerning.

Congrats to those who got acceptances today, I wish I was celebrating with you, but does anyone have any experience/advice about what we can do right now, besides wait? Anyone recommend updates/letters of intent, yadda yadda, or is that a waste of time for RFU? I've heard a lot of mixed opinion about these things, but hey, I'm willing to do whatever it takes, because I would seriously love to matriculate here.

Thanks in advance

I liked the school, but honestly my 2 interviewers were awful. One was a retired physician who made me ask him questions the whole time and never asked me anything. How am I supposed to be evaluated by that? And the other was a guy who admitted he's new to interviewing and didn't seem to do a very good job. Kept going off on tangents unrelated to anything and yea just a little pissed at that whole experience.

hah, that's a bummer kid A. That sounds familiar, I think I you that day, I remember someone telling me their first interviewer made them ask the questions, and they didn't like it (I don't blame you, I wouldn't either!). Are you Russian, by any chance? I guess I should prob ask if we interviewed the same day, the 26th?

Accepted!!! I'm so excited!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

Loved the school and all the people I met that day!

Interviewed 1/26

Interviewed 1/25 Accepted 🙂 THANK GOD !
Cali Kid from UC Santa Barbara - Good luck to rest of those who interviewed 1/25

congrats on the acceptances! as for myself another hold.... i think maybe the interviewers didn't give me a good evaluation. it seems like im the only one on hold for a while. this was now my fourth hold.

If you have any good updates in terms of grades and activities be sure to let them know. maybe a letter of intent could help, but im sure they already know that most of us want to go there.

i think the next decision should be near the end of this month, as the decision made today were mostly for applicants interviewing from january.

i was wondering if anyone knew how many students get accepted from the hold list post interview. feel free to send me a message with the stats.

well, i have been placed on post interview hold. the email says that they will continue to review my file monthly, and that i can submit updates like transcripts.

also says that any status change will be conveyed through mail.
does that mean snail mail?

so ppl get accepted or rejected after being on hold only by snail mail?😕

has anyone been accepted with out sending a status update after being placed
on hold?

any input would be appreciated

congrats to those accepted already🙂

thanks

Basically if you do get accepted after a hold they will tell you through email and snail mail. im sure that they accept people without sending a status update.

small pooled 9/9/9 not really swimming anymore, just chilling there :meanie:

Hey guys I just have a quick question. Have any of you received an interview from being officially complete with your application in october? I have since been smalled pooled but haven't heard back yet. I only called once and they said they were just offering interviews those completed in August/September. Was wondering if that is true via this thread?

Any info is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Anyone else still pre-interview out there? Haven't been rejected, but I was complete in late October, and I'm getting very antsy. With all these people chilling in small-pool, I wonder if there's room for us to interview, since we gotta get small-pooled first.

Yuup still waiting. 🙁 Complete October and small pooled in December. If I'm not mistaken, RFU interviews until May this year so still awhile to go.

I am also getting antsy, complete in mid october and small pooled in mid january...

I was complete before October and small pooled last yer. Still have not heard anything. I sent a letter of interest and they haven't acknowledged that yet either.

RFU doesn't accept letters of interest or update letters pre-interview. Just gotta sit tight.

As an FYI, I was placed on hold a week after I interviewed. After getting this hold, I sent in an update/letter of interest and received an acceptance via email and mail three weeks later. The update was pretty substantial, but I'd bet a letter to them that has an update and expresses your interest will help.

Can anyone tell me what it means to be "small pooled"? I am assuming people who are small pooled are the next ones up for interviews. Do they inform you about that kind of status?

My app was complete in mid-Nov (applied late) and I just got this "we may you interview you we may not" e-mail. I'm assuming that's what everyone means when they say "small-pool." Is this normal? I have a 31/3.5 and I'm a 28 yr old/nontrad applicant. I thought I'd have SOME chance at RFU but I'm getting concerned at how long it's taking. I know they are still interviewing for a while but realistically how many spots are left by now?

if you are small pooled, dont worry too much. the committee probably did get a chance to review you and now you are one step closer to an interview. remember the school interviews until May, and there are still some spots available. when they do grant you an interview, there are a good number of dates to pick. if you are small pooled, there is still plenty of time. we have about four months until the admissions cycle for rfu ends.

after you interview, the adcom generally send an email once a month updating your status. it usually either a hold, acceptance, or rejection. if you get a hold, you are notified via email. if it is either an acceptance or rejection, then you are notified via email and regular mail. also for the people on hold, the adcom committee does review the applicant every month.

and if you know that you probably will not attend rfu, please withdraw your application. it will help those who do want to attend the school!!!

I got accepted after being put on the hold list for a few months so there is hope for those of you who are on post-interview holds! Oh and just FYI I did not send them any updates or letter of intent before they accepted me. I was going to write one because i really did want to go there and am so happy to have been accepted but i had not gotten a chance to write one yet, but i don't think that it would hurt if you are on a post-interview hold and wrote a letter of intent if you really would go there if accepted.

Congrats to everyone accepted and those still on hold, don't lose hope.

So has anyone been able to figure out when the admissions committee meets? Reading the posts here, the general consensus is that they send out acceptances once a month - is this so? Also, since Kid A was interviewed on Feb 1 and received an update on Feb 5, does this mean that they meet on the first Thursday of every month? Does this seem right?

Just some feedback about the interview day...

I went into the interview not knowing too much about the school and not exactly expecting anything great. As soon as I started talking to students that were in the BMS program and current medical students, my impression of the school completely changed. Every student absolutely loved being at RFU! They could not stop raving about their teachers and the close relationships they had w/them. Professors would run into some of the interviewers and knew them on a first-name basis and wished them luck. The dean stopped by and was pretty funny and seemed very down to earth.

I had no idea that RFU had some of the highest board scores and had such great residency placements! That was a pretty nice surprise 🙂 The anatomy lab is awesome...TV screens hooked up to each table, the room is big, and it's not hidden away in some basement like at some other schools. The food was great (they have sushi made in front of you!), great salad bar, great paninis and sandwiches. The current medical students love the small community feel and love being there! They all seemed very involved in clubs/organizations too. Overall, my impression about RFU completely changed and i will most likely be attending in the fall.

Ari1584, thank you so much for your feedback. It sure makes me want to go there. I have not interviewed yet, but I am definitely looking forward to it.

anyone know what the satisfactory GPA is that the CMS student admission committee has set that students who are accepted must maintain??

😱 Where's my invite?!

BTW Ari1584, congrats on getting accepted...and so soon...

been in the pool since october and still nothing.

I was wondering about the same thing- let us know if you find out anything. 🙂

Do schools get annoyed with status checks? I really want to go to Rosalind, and I still haven't been small-pooled, so I've been asking for a status check about once a month. Is this too much?

I wouldn't think so. Once a month sounds fine.

Where was the sushi when I was there...?!?!?

does anyone know if RFU has simulation tools? i was looking through the book they gave us at the interview and stumbled across a picture of students and what looked like a simulation mannequin.

On my interview day, I asked an M1 that same question and she said that they only have actors come in as patients. They don't have actual mannequin simulators. But then i noticed that same picture so now I am confused? Unless they used to have them but dont anymore...

i dont know of any simulators here. so far, as M1s, we have taken histories with actors and performed physicals on fellow students.
