Probably next Thursday? The timing seems kind of weird. Anyways, good luck.:xf:

Thanks a lot. I should keep things in perspective and not complain, I'm in a good situation. SLU has just always been the goal.

Does anybody know how many people moved off of the wait list last year or the year before? Thanks.

Maybe you could check out last year's SLU thread.

Yeah, I hear you buddy. I'll definitely be pulling for you.

So I sent in everything for financial aid. With the mySLU it says they have my submitted fafsa, parents' tax return, my tax return, and the verification form. But the "Indicator that verification has been performed" is marked as unsatisfactory. Does anyone know what you have to do for this step or is it just a matter of them actually looking at all of the paperwork? I'll call on Monday but just seeing if anyone else had this problem or knows what it is about.

Mine says the same, and it hasn't been updated since march 30th either, while everything else is up to date.

Let me know how it goes.

Mine says "Satisfied" for verification.

You don't have to do anything if you've turned all the forms in. They're probably still waiting to get to your application so they can verify the info. Just wait.

Anyone else who interviewed at the end of March hear anything?

maybe you will here some news this thursday! good luck I hope you get an acceptance! and i hope i get off the alternate list! so I can move to St. Louie!!!!!!

I hope we hear about the financial situations before this month is over. I want to see how things will work out money-wise.

I wish they would give us our financial aid packages. I'm probably going to withdrawal due to the COA, but I'm waiting to do so b/c if I had a decent financial aid package I would be very interested in attending.

Don't expect more than $10k scholarship, bc that's the maximum you could get. Probably not most people's definition of "decent" but it's more than a drop in the bucket.

Yeah, I agree 10K isn't much, but some schools give "grants," which aren't technically scholarships but are still free money, and interest-free loans during med school and residency are possible at some schools. I have no idea if SLU is one of these types of schools, but I figure there's no real harm in waiting to see.

SLU gives grants, but oddly enough calls them scholarships. They're either $5k or 10k, based solely on need. They have a few University loans that are deferable through residency, but they have quite a large interest rate once you enter repayment (~9%). They also have pretty favorable Loans for Disadvantaged Students. So it's pretty safe to assume no matter what, you're still going to be graduating SLU with a debt burden of at least 240k if you're self-financing.

Agreed. I would LOVE a free $10k. It really brings SLU down in price compared to other privates around $70K. With Stafford loans that's $18.5k, which is a lot better than most same-tier private schools are offering.

Yeah, $10k a year would be really nice. But I heard from the med students there that they hand out $5k and $10k scholarships pretty rarely and they are based solely on need. And that most students are only "awarded" loans.
Still, I want to get my financial award letter so I can see what the situation is like. Hopefully, they will release them soon.

Hang in there. Someone posted earlier here that it should occur before May 15th.

wow...they got back to you pretty quick.

anyone know when they start making decisions about or start looking at the Alternate List people?

well when I called according to the lady it could happen at any point in the cycle really even before May 15th, which was bad for my nerves. O well I have pretty much told myself don't stress until after May 15th and see what spots open up. Good luck to everyone waiting!!!!

Most alternate list will start moving once the accepted students get our financial awards letter and people realize how much this school is going to cost.

I would imagine most movements will occur after May 15th, but if they happen sooner, they should be pretty soon. Good luck michiganpsych08!

They must be working on financial aid stuff because I have a new section that is unsatisfied-- "Accept Awards." "Indicator that verification has been performed" is still unsatisfied as well. Anyone else have this new section?

I got the new "Accept Awards" section as well, which is Unsatisfied. But there's no reward letter for me yet in Banner.

But my "Indicator for Verification" has been Satisfied for some time now. Probably going to get my award letter any time now.

My "indicator" was changed to satisfied this week. Maybe they haven't gone through all your paperwork yet.

I have the same "accept awards" requirement, but no award info.

Regarding the waitlist, I have a couple of questions, and would appreciate it if someone knows the answer or can give some sort of an educated guess.

1) Does anyone know the approximate size this year?

2) Typically, does the waitlist move a good deal, with a lot of people being accepted, or does it not really mean that much to be on the WL?

3) Since I was just put on the WL within the last few weeks, does that mean I'm probably near the bottom? I would think that they would not keep changing the order of the waitlist as they continue voting on people.

edit: In short, what I'm getting at is SLU a school where getting on the WL means a likely acceptance, or not really?

I have two friends who were waitlisted two years ago and ended up being accepted. I talked to them and they said that being waitlisted is not the end of the world. I am currently waitlisted as well

I guess we will get a better idea of how fast the waitlist moves from May 15 onward as people start withdrawing their acceptances...

Not sure about your first two questions, but someone said the waiting list is unranked. So your being put on there within last few weeks should not be too much of a problem, IMO.

Yeah, especially since people will be getting their fianancial awad letters from SLU.

My financial aid award info is up.

I didn't even get the 10K scholarship.

It's too bad, b/c I liked this school, but I just can't justify the significant extra cost over comparable schools.

I'll probably withdraw on Monday.
Good Luck to all you 2014 SLU'ers :luck:

Yup, it's listed as a scholarship.

Sorry man, I guess if it's not listed, then they didn't award you one.🙁

Bummer since I'm self-financing... I wonder if it is because I sent in the paperwork right after the priority date (unfortunately I was accepted on the priority date)
But congrats on yours BlueElmo!

Yes I submitted before the priority deadline.

has anyone else had trouble getting into the housing forum on mySLU? I try and I get the message
"You are not listed as an admitted student at Saint Louis University. Please contact the Office of Housing and Residence Life to apply."

Yeah same here. I bet the administration is still trying to get all the new students up-to-date Internet and log-in wise.
