Blue, are you going to SLU for sure? For some reason I thought you still had more interviews coming up or were waiting on a few waitlists?

Yeah, I have some other interviews lined up. So I'm going to see where I'll fit in the best, but I really liked SLU when I interviewed there.

has anyone done the regional interview in San Fran? If so, do you think it was a good idea?

I interviewed here last year with a 3.5/34

I was waitlisted and never accepted
The only feedback I received was that the average accepted person had a 3.8 gpa. well then why did they interview me?

for anyone in this kind of situation, with a sub-par gpa, make sure you ask your interviewer why they selected you for the interview despite the gpa gap.

i wish i had asked this, as there is no way of me knowing now!

Maybe they saw strong points in rest of your application, like your Personal Statement and EC's. Well anyways, good luck to you this year.

Where is that even an option? The e-mail invitation doesn't mention it and my website scheduler didn't show it, I don't think.

They were only offered on Jan 14th, 15th, and the 16th. They mentioned it in my email also. I'm guessing it only shows up if you were invited before those dates.

I called admissions. No second look day is offered but students can arrange their own informal visit of the school if they just want to take another look at the campus, area, etc.

Cool, thanks calimed for calling. I was going to visit the area anyway before school starts, so it should be okay for me.

Had my regional interview today. I think it went rather well. Now just have to wait 8-10 weeks to see. 🙄

Good luck, Medgirl55! That's a long time to wait.

By the way, I received my acceptance package by snail mail yesterday.😀

Yup! It's just a big waiting game, hehe. Then we have to wait for the financial aid packages to come in later.

Wow - I forgot I even applied here I haven't heard anything in so long!!

What month do they interview up until? I haven't heard anything from here =/

got my acceptance email today!!!

C: late july
I: 12/21

Does anyone know about SLU and in-the-area pre-interview e-mails?

If you go up some posts, some people were successful with them. So you might want to send it, as you've got nothing to lose, IMO.

Received the alternate list email today. OOS 3.6 35R, Interviewed 1/11.

By judging the tone of the email, I'm assuming the alternate list is a consolation and that the chances of getting off of it are slim. Anyone know more about how their alternate list works?

I interviewed on 12/15 and have not received anything. At this point I'm taking no news as good news. Should I email them or call them to find out about my status or is that not a good idea?

You should call them. The office is friendly and they will tell you where you stand.

Quoted for emphasis, if anyone can answer. I was just placed on the list too.

I think I might glance through last year's SLU thread to see how many came off the alternate list, although obviously SDN is only a slice of every class.

If you are really curious, you might want to email or call the admissions office. We would only be speculating on this site.

I called them today and my application is still under review. Damn the wait is killing me. I spend most of my free time staring at my email nowadays.

Haha, I know how you feel, the wait really sucks. Good luck though.

I made the really tough decision to decline my offer of acceptance from SLU today. I really really like this school, but the cost and distance from family lead me to decide it wasn't the right place for me. I told them to be sure to give my spot to someone on SDN, so keep a look out!

Good luck to all of you waiting still! :luck:

interviewed 12/7, accepted 1/21. i thought the wait would kill me, but it was worth it.

Congrats on the acceptances everyone! I have an interview coming up soon and was wondering if you guys thought I would be able to make a 4:45 flight. My scheduled interview is from 2:00 to 2:45. Thanks!

That's cutting it close. You might be able to make it, but you would have to really hustle.

ARGHH this school is so frustrating with respect to accommodations/transportation. None of the hotels have shuttles and the school's shuttle doesn't bring you to the two closest hotels (Water Tower Inn & Holiday Inn Express).

/end rant

Water Tower Inn is a 4 minute walk from the med school building so that shouldn't be a problem. But the hotel does suck pretty badly so if I was you I'd probably pay for a cab from the Holiday Inn!

Cabs are expensive, but I would just take it instead of dealing with the hassels of shuttles.

Yeah that's pretty much what I figured. Tulane's school hotel has scarred me for life.

Agreed. I think I'll just book a cheap airport hotel and taxi it on interview day.

The school has a place for luggage, yes?

Well I guess if you want to avoid the hassle, the Tower inn isn't THAT bad (other than outdated rooms, really hard beds, a fly infested breakfast area, and an internet connection that barely works). The price was also pretty high for what you got. I'd try to find another hotel in the general SLU area (airport hotels might be a little far if you want to take a cab to the school).

Yes, you can take your luggage to the school.

Yeah the room allows you to put your baggae in, and you can come back for it later.

you should be fine. if you interview in the afternoon, it will be your last activity of the day. the airport is a pretty easy shot from slu, so just make sure you're ready to leave as soon as the interview is complete and you'll make it.

I stayed at the Residence Inn and the shuttle took me right to the interview site.

i stayed at the water tower in, and the shuttle took me right to the interview site as well.

D'oh, and I spent so much money on cabs, maybe I should have used the shuttle service. Oh well.

I just received an interview invite from this school! I was complete around 9/3... this is one of the schools I've been hoping to get noticed by. It's a regional interview in Los Angeles, has anyone done one of these?

Congrats!

I just got one too. Set for mid-feb.

lol, I was thinking of cancelling this interview until I saw it was in LA. Maybe I'll go after all.🙂 Yay for no flight needed.

ya tell me about it. altho i feel somewhat bad for most likely taking someone else's interview spot. we'll see what happens tho. anyways, congrats!

I wish they had regional interviews available when I interviewed, it would have saved me tons of money. But then I would not have gone on the tour, talk with medical school students, etc. So I suppose going there was a plus.
