Alternate list! 🙁 So far I've heard from SLU and Tufts, and both have put me on their waitlist. What a weird status. It feels as if they're saying they like me enough to want me to be one of their students, buuuttt.... something. If they didn't like me enough to want me as one of their students then they would've outright rejected me. So they like me well enough to want to accept me as one of their students, but *something* is preventing it. What is that something?!?!

Probably they're waiting to see some more of their interviewees before they make a final decision on you. Hope it all works out.
 
Not that I could care less but got rejected here today pre-interview and what a kind email it was lol:

Unfortunately, we are not able to offer you a position for the coming year. It is the sincere hope of the members of the Committee that your extensive interest in and intensive preparation for a medical education be fully realized in another school or a related field.

We appreciate your interest in our School and I give you my personal best wishes for success in your future endeavors.

Well they certainly could have made it worse. They could have said "Thanks for your application fee... don't let the door hit you on your way out."

I've seen worse rejection letters. This one actually sounds not that bad.

Yeah I guess I haven't had too many rejections roll in yet although I know they are coming as I haven't interviewed at the majority of schools I applied to lol. I've heard BU is pretty bad. Anyway, I still feel belittled by the statement that they hope another schools sees what they didn't see in me and that they wish me luck and that maybe another medically related field would be better. I really hate how competitive medical education has become and how snobby certain people are about it. It's like its own little club.

Understandable. Maybe they could have phrased it better, but I don't think SLU was trying to belittle you on purpose. Anyways congrats on your acceptance elsewhere!

I have been waiting for an interview foreverrr... do you think I should just give up?
 
I got punched in the nuts by the snow storms. My final letter of rec was sent 2/3.....then the snow storms came....two of them...closed AAMC up to thursday and late opening for 2 hours on friday......then Mon, 2/15 the app due date for slu-som, AAMC's closed for President's Day.....I cancelled my final letter today......and AMCAS stated that it will send the letter regardless if it arrives during this app cycle.......sent slu-som an email explaining the situation but it probably won't matter much.....looks like this is it for me......see u guys uhhh I don't know when

I would feel a little funny about that as well. But at least you're indifferent about it! Would you mind sharing when you were complete? I feel like I have been silently rejected. Thanks.
 
Interview invite🙂!!!! complete.. I don't even know how long ago, mid-july I think. 4.0/33M OOS. Interviewing 3/9 which is the earliest I can go unless I want to fly to Seattle this Thursday lol. Really excited to see the school! Does anyone know if they interview people just for the waitlist or am I still in the running for an acceptance?

I have been complete probably since August so it only took half a year to reject me lol Most of the other schools I applied to have been silent as well, luckily I got into a few.

Well, if you fly to Seattle you could maybe interview at University of Washington? lol Anyway St. Louis>Seattle. St. Louis is BEAUTIFUL

Wow, seriously? SLU makes you pay the student hosts? That's really weird. I mean I understand the concept, but have never heard of any other school doing that.

Thanks! I'm nervous, but hopeful! 🙂 I think the interview went really well althogh it would have been nice to get a chance to actually see the school (was a regional one).

I actually had the croissant sandwich. It had a cream cheese spread that was delicious! I'm not even a fan of ham, but that sandwich was something else.

Yeah I forget what those chips were. But they seemed kind of unique. Definitely delicious though.

Well I hope the food can live up to all of this hype. I have high expectations for my interview day now lol. Was there anything else that was unique about interviewing here or just the amazing food?

It was a general, standard interview day. Not much different from other schools. You can check out the Interview Feedback page for tips and stuff. Good luck.

I'm sure others got that financial aid email today. It says the verification form is not available until March 1st but it seems to me it is on their website: www.finaid.slu.edu/forms (form #1). Is this not the right form? Or is it ok to go ahead and submit?

It could be a mistake in their email, maybe. The form online seems up to date, but the due date is not until April 15th anyways, so plenty of time.

Thanks. Yeah it seemed like the right form to me too, I just wanted a second opinion 🙂

I know it's not due for a while, but I just want to get this whole process over with - it's been dragging on since May!
 
Has anyone filled out the Verification form yet? What did you put as you SLU Banner ID #? We didn't get one of these when we were accepted, did we? Just leave it blank then?

We didn't get the ID # yet. That's why I would wait until March 1st like the email says before turning this in. Plenty of time and no need to rush things.
 
Quick! Someone flips a quarter to see if I'll get an interview.....I call Heads!!!!...First post after mine is the only valid one........please do not lie for the love of God haha
 
Do acceptances come via phone call, email, or snail mail? What about rejections and waitlists?

Acceptances are by email. Pretty sure waitlists and post-interview rejections are as well.
