When did you interview? Is it absolutely inappropriate that I hope to hear this Thursday or next when I interviewed March 8?

Any chance that I havent been waitlisted if I interviewed 2/2 and still havent heard? Im giving up on this one till summer.

The trend seemed to be hearing past 5 weeks was a waitlist, but who knows anymore

always keep hope, though my strongest advice would to just NOT speculate, keep occupied with other things

hope for the best, prepare for the worst

Ya I saw some that took 6 weeks but that was the longest wait I saw on SDN for an acceptance.

I remember someone in the earlier posts here said it took him 8 weeks or something. Not sure though.

Interviewed over 4 weeks now...they told me I would hear in 3-4 weeks

7 weeks to go for us waitlisters....hang in there guys!

Surprising that the lady on the phone told me that it takes 4-6 weeks to send a decision after the interview when the list of Canadians I have provided above shows that they got the reply within 1 week sometimes.

It's probably their standard answer.

If that's the case then when she says "no decision has been made" for status check on application post-interview, it could be her way of hiding the rejection for letting the application wait to get the email to realize what their status is.

Yeah, it could be.

I think they did forget about me 😛. I called yesterday and got an alternate list email bright and early this morning...

It seems as if maybe the class has filled up and they are interviewing for alternate list spots now as I think it has been a few weeks since any acceptances

I am not sure what they are interview for at this point. but if it makes any difference I'll be giving up my spot soon once my deposit check clears for my instate school. I love SLU but I dont know if I have loved anything enough to make up a difference of $79,000 over four years in tuition alone.

Well, SDN people represents just a small percentage of the whole spectrum.

Hmmmm this is starting to really worry me. I don't want to call and ask if they're still giving acceptances out, but I would really appreciate if someone who knows could say so. I interviewed there on 3/8 and felt it went well and would really like to come here, but I hope I don't have an automatic waitlist coming. Hope everyone who has heard "alternate list" so far gets in! It seems like the list normally moves a lot.

Yeah, it seems they are mostly alternate listing people, from what it seems like from SDN. But still, maybe people have a chance at an acceptance even now.

It would be pretty sad that I flew in from Canada to Saint Louis just for a alternate list spot?

I'm sure it has to do with there not being enough spots at the moment. Most/all schools go off stats from previous years. Even though students hold on to acceptances right now, the school knows a lot of people will change their minds as other schools make final decisions in the coming days. From what I've seen, it seems like a lot of schools keep a little more on alternate lists than what they typically accept in past years (class size, plus people who withdrew, plus people who declined acceptances, etc.). Even if you do get an immediate alternate, I'm sure there'll be a lot of changes in April.

So everyone on the alternate list will have to wait until after May 15??? I hope its not that long b/c I really want to start looking for an apartment if I get accepted.

Probably. It's not until May 15th before a lot of movement starts, I would imagine.

i'm pretty unfamiliar to the st. louis area, so does anybody know anthying about housing? i'm not expecting anything fancy, but i don't want to get stuck in anything too terrible either...

there is a lot of good info on housing on slu's website.

medschool.slu.edu/studentaffairs is the link and on the right is "housing information"

i would read over that, i got a pretty good feel for the different "neighborhoods" from what ive heard, tower grove is a really good place to live

hey so have any of you guys called to see when a decision will be made on your file? I am finally at my 4th week mark and I am anxious to hear back. Do they give information out on the phone?

Their standard answer will be that it takes 4-6 weeks. But it might remind them about your file and make them get to you faster (do not know if this is true). I remember calling around 4-5 weeks and getting my decision two days later. Good luck to you.
Another good area for housing is the central west end area. It is by WashU med school so you will definitely need a car. Thats were I am looking to live.

You could get your decision this Thursday, probably. You can call them, but they'll probably tell you they haven't gotten to your file or something.

anyone else here interviewed with dr. margaret cooper?

Yes, I did when she came out to California. She was nice, but she never smiled... it made me super nervous, but I got in (so, don't bother trying to read her facial impressions).

I interviewed March 1st. I wonder if I came up at the meeting. Are Thursdays always decision days? Or is that just speculation?

Speculation. But it seems like that's when decisions usually come out, if you look at the SDN posts.

I just got back from visiting SLU and was told by multiple med students that the Central West End, Midtown (especially the street right beside the undergrad), The Hill, and South City were all decent, relatively safe and nice areas.

From what I hear over half of the students that have interviewed gain acceptance, and that many that interview get rejected post interview. I got the wait list in January, so I am pretty confident that I could receive an offer. Has anyone on here been wait listed, and then been offered?

I would doubt much movement would happen until after May 15th.
