Oh, I didn't think you were. I completely agree - the top 25-30 schools are absurdly competitive and there is no particular rhyme or reason by which people are selected. Success or lack thereof at one school normally has little bearing on how one will fair at similarly-regarded (or ranked) institutions.
In the thread of another top-20 school, one poster vented in frustration why s/he didn't get an invite from this particular school when they were interviewed and even accepted at peer institutions. It was kind of shocking evidence that some people develop a sense of entitlement in this process, an absurd attitude to take when dealing with this caliber of school.
Additionally, as I alluded to previously, several top schools are known for being numbers heavy whereas others manage to get classes with great stats but operate much more around the type of class and candidate they want. Each school looks for different things in candidates.
I wasn't calling you out, I was really talking to the person who gave themselves no chance. At this point, no news is good news. And, at Cornell, apparently who you are and what you've done are just as important as your MCAT and GPA.
