Doogie, I don't know the rest of your stats, but I have a friend who's a third year at Hopkins and he had your MCAT score and a little lower GPA. I should point out that he went to Hopkins for undergrad as well, but I wouldn't throw out your app just because you have a 33. Getting into Hopkins is really going to come down to your other experiences.

Interview invite today via email.
Submitted 7/7
Complete 8/12

When did admissions confirm that your application was complete?

Congrats on DrNerd first!
Sorry I am a bit confused.
The last email I got from Hopkins was two weeks ago, and says "We have received your secondary application. It is your responsibility to check the AMCAS letter service site to ensure that all of your letters of recommendation have been received. We will send an e-mail when your application is complete and ready for review by the Committee on Admission."

Is there another e-mail after this that says application is complete? It looks like I need to email them to get the complete email.

Thanks!

Yes, there is another email that comes after with the subject "Confirmation of Complete Application"

Thanks so much, guys. I'm so insanely excited. You def receive a complete email, although mine came over a month after my submission date. Also, I was invited via email but there is no status change on the website.
Good luck EVERYONE!

Do MSTP applicants get automatic secondaries? I still havent received anything from hopkins.

I submitted my JHU application on July 14. Has anyone received a complete email for that date or later?

I submitted my secondary July 24 and got a confirmation email August 20, but nothing since then (just that it's under review?)...

The suspense -_-

Not sure if people are still confused but if so, I hope this helps.
After submission (mine was 12 days later), you receive an email entitled "Receipt of Johns Hopkins Secondary Application"
Later (mine was 36 days after submission), you receive an email entitled "Confirmation of Complete Application"

I didn't get the "Receipt of Secondary Application" email, just the "Thank you for your application!" email, and that was right after I submitted the application (8/10)

I got a secondary receipt email like a couple of weeks after i submitted it so it takes a while.

Secondary Submitted: 7/15
Receipt of John Hopkins Secondary: 8/12
Confirmation of Complete Application: 8/27

Hi everyone.
I'm interested in adding JHU to my AMCAS list of schools.

What is the secondary application like?
What are the essay prompts? Could someone post them?
Thank you.🙂

I submitted 7/6, completed on 8/12 and nothing more

Invited for Interview!

Doogie...I had a 33 MCAT too..you should definitely fill out your secondary and give it a shot!

When did you receive your "confirmation of complete application" email?

For those of you that have been invited to interview, what day will you be at Hopkins?

I received a "complete" email today. Website not updated and still just says "submitted". AMCAS sent my LORs over a week ago, so they are definitely behind updating everything.

Did everyone receive a complete email from JHU? My letters were released to AMCAS 3 weeks ago and I haven't gotten anything...I guess I'll just call them next week.

My last materials got in a month ago and I just got the complete email today. Seems like they take their time; I wouldn't worry about it.

Do you think an ethical dilemma could work as "a situation where you had to overcome adversity?"

Any comments appreciated!

what are the most popular hotels to stay in (for interviewees)? or should I stay in Reed?

thanks

I think that staying in Reed is wise (ie that's what I'm doing). Although I've heard that it's a little ****ty, it is free and it affords you to opportunity to meet with current students the night before your interview, which I think should be quite valuable.

got the complete + invite emails w/in a few hours of each other, good luck everyone

Interview invite today. Complete a week ago . Good luck everyone!

for students who don't want to stay in reed, what hotels are popular?
thank you

Can someone please comment on the best way to get to the medical school from BWI airport? I am leaning towards the airport shuttle with the student rate but when reserving it they want you to choose a destination from the drop down list and the medical school campus is not an option, only the undergrad campus...

Last year's thread mentioned a free Hopkins shuttle to and from the airport...does anyone know if that's still available? It wasn't mentioned in any of the information they sent out to us. I also thought about renting a car from the airport...

Anyway, I'm really unsure of what to do (and need to make a decision ASAP...). 😕 Any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks!

Just when you thought you'd be safe within the Hopkins buildings ...

Shooting reported at Johns Hopkins Hospital
A doctor has been shot at Johns Hopkins Hospital in east Baltimore, Maryland, police said.
Police are on the scene, and local media say the suspect is hiding in a patient's room on the eighth floor of the hospital. CNN affiliate WMAR reported that the shooter has barricaded himself.
Reports indicate the wounded doctor is in critical condition. Many people have been evacuated, according to reports.
WMAR in Baltimore reported that officials have told staff and patients who were not evacuated to stay inside rooms at the hospital, which has about 1,000 beds.

First the stabbing and now this... I think it's time for me to cut down my list by one school. While I know this can happen anywhere, I don't really think I want to be in a place where I have to seriously worry about my safety all of the time.

You can take the rail to Penn station (it's like 2 dollars), and from there take the free Hopkins shuttle to the medical campus (it's about a 10 minute ride). Be sure you get on the right shuttle (the stop is on the left as you exit Penn station), since there is another shuttle heading in the opposite direction (on the right as you exit Penn station).

Does anyone know who the faculty member who got shot today was?

Due to these safety concerns, I think everyone (except for me) should withdraw their applications from Hopkins Med. mkthankx

I don't live anywhere near JHU so I've never given much attention to their local news. Do these incidents occur frequently here?? Do most students get robbed or attacked?

for interviewees, are the rooms offered in Reed singles, doubles, or triples?

thx

Hi,
You can take the MARC train from the airport to Penn Station (I've heard it's around $4, never took it though. From Penn Station the Hopkins Shuttle is the shuttle that every 30 min takes students and faculty between the undergraduate campus and the medical school. The stop that will take you to the med school is on St. Paul, just ask anyone they can point you to it, most likely. It's usually a white bust that says "Johns Hopkins" but sometimes it's a school bus. It's really easy to use, just make sure it's not dark. Also, on weekends the shuttle schedule is different -- every hour and only between 12 and 6 on Saturday, and Sunday is 12 pm - 12 am (weekdays the shuttle stops at 12 am).

Hope that helps.

An actual killing on campus is rare, but Baltimore does have a crime problem. Over the course of four years, you will likely be the victim of some crime or know a friend who is the victim of some crime.

My place was burglarized/vandalized within a week of moving to Baltimore. This was a block from the Hopkins undergrad campus, which is supposed to be much safer than the med campus.
