Has anyone else that interviewed on Sep 21 heard back yet?

I interviewed on 9/21 and was accepted on 10/21, so don't worry too much - seems like people that interviewed on the same day hear things at different times! 🙂

Weird. Any connection to Missouri or the general area? Did you write anything for the optional essay?
Trying to see if there's any pattern....probably not though.

I'm Canadian, so no connection to slu whatsoever.
I didnt write anything for the optional essay i dont think...it was so long ago i dont even remember. ill get around to checking eventually...

btw...whats the climate like in saint louis??? aka how cold does it get ??

It gets down to 20 a few times and will snow every now and then but it melts right away. It's usually in the 30's in the winter and hot and humid in the summer.

I may not have gotten an interview here but I still love St. Louis. Your hockey team is amaaaazing 🙂

LIES! Ok, well not really, but the winter really depends year to year. Most years have about a week that is single digits/low teens around Christmas time (always a shock to come home to at single digits at Christmas). Often times the winter does hover around high 20s/low to mid thirties. Some winters can have snow cover on the ground for the majority of the winter, and some winters will really not have snow.

Summers are always miserable. 90s and 100s most of the time and so humid that it feels like your skin is dripping off

Hi guys,

So I didn't realize see if this has been asked before, but does SLU do silent rejections? Or will they actually let you know if you're no longer under consideration? I submitted all my stuff here at the end of July, and haven't heard anything and am just wondering whether I should cross this school off my list. Are they receptive to calls to the office to check on application status?

Thanks so much!

For anyone who's interviewing, I just found a few PDF's of their Grand Rounds pamphlet/magazine. The 09 Fall has been a great read so far, I just wish I had found these sooner, as I'm flying out tomorrow and interviewing the morning after.

Hope this helps

I'll be the guy wearing shorts made from cut off jeans, my lucky bright red v-neck wife beater, and a spectacular gold chain/medallion. Oh, and huge aviators, can't forget the aviators.

HAHA I don't think I'll be able to find you. Doesnt everyone wear that?

But seriously, at one of my interviews this guy had on a blue sport coat, some worn khakis, and very dull dress shoes. This was at a pretty decently ranked school and early in the season so its not like he was sitting on some acceptances and didn't care.

👍

Total variance. Meteorologist's nightmare...We had years where we had -50F winchills, but then I remember in like 7th or 8th grade bbq'ing on January 2nd because it was 70 out. Then we've gotten snow in May. Oh and the summer definitely, need a machete to cut through the humidity. July and August are the worst with the heat and humidity.

But generally, the winters are decently cold, white Xmas is possible (maybe every 3 years or so). Generally January and Feb are the worst for snow. A bit colder than what the PPs said - I'd go for Teens/20s. Fall usually starts Octoberish - usually need a jacket by now. Spring is crazy weather season with the thunderstorms and tornadoes from the changes in temps. (Amazing thunderstorms! <3) Then in the summer count on mostly 95+ and a handful of 100+ days.

Congratulations on your WSU acceptance! I'm applying there too but am OOS and haven't heard anything🙁 Are you not planning on attending WSU if you get in somewhere else?

Thanks!! Well, WSU is my top choice because of location (always lived in SW Ohio, whole fam is there, etc.), curriculum, aaaand a significant other that happens to be a current student there. BUT, I still want to keep an open mind with regard to other schools - who knows, I might fall in love with somewhere else [plus, the family that I want to stay close to is urging me to move away = :eyebrow:]! I'm thinking it would have to be a SLU or Wake acceptance to cause me to really think about withdrawing from WSU. We'll see!

Good luck to you - both at SLU and WSU!! Both great schools IMO :luck:

Any recent acceptances? I'm in the 10/11 group..anyone heard anything yet?

do we need to send in anything other then the code of conduct to accept the offer?

What is more significanta bout this school (SLU) then WSU to you that you would give up an acceptance in your home state to go to SLU? Just curious.

The curriculum seems pretty cool, the students seem really nice, the location (IMO) is great, the medical campus is awesome, my sister lives there so I would still have family around, it's only 6 hours from home, etc.

I guess a well-established program with an intriguing curriculum and a good location are what I'm looking for. I love love love WSU, but my family is a nuisance, and when they say 'why don't you get the heck out of SW Ohio?' and don't let it slide, it gets to be a little frustrating and makes me want to do it just to get them out of my hair. All I'm saying is: out of the several schools that I still have a chance at, there are very few that could actually pull me away from WSU, and I still don't know enough about them to know whether or not they would, I just know they have a chance 😉 - really, I'm happy with my acceptance. And I really like that I CAN be picky now. 👍

Accepted via email on 10/16 (sorry for the delayed post)! Congrats to other acceptees, and good luck to everyone else!

Interviewed on 9/28. ~3.7 GPA, 31 MCAT

Has anyone who interviewed in October heard back yet? I was told about 2 weeks only to hear back.

yes interviewed Oct 5th, heard back from them Oct 21st.

I'm getting some serious disrespect from SLU:

3.7 gpa, 39Q MCAT, good ECs, good letters. Complete in july.

I hate being ignored for having high numbers. This process is ridiculous.

Interviewed early Oct and get waitlisted today. Totally shocked -- 3 post-interview decisions and 2 of them are waitlist. Am wondering if I'm doing anything wrong in interviews. Anyone knows if SLU's waitlist moves or not?

This process can seem very random. I have similar numbers (lower MCAT, higher GPA), and I got an invite and acceptance pretty quickly. Maybe send them an LOI to show you are genuinely interested.

Yes, it moves quite a bit. I'm not sure how soon it will start, but I know they interview around 950 and accept around 540 for a class of 177. You should have a great chance of getting in off the waitlist with those numbers.

I withdrew this morning, so maybe you can take my spot 🙂 good luck!

Wow.. You really are 'That Dude'. Maybe they know something that, based on your post, is so apparent to the rest of us.

Finally got up the courage to send an "in the area" email (will be in town to visit brother at SLU undergrad).

Just got a response that they haven't made a decision on my app yet, but they'll see what they can do! 🙂

This school really exceeded my expectations. Moved up the list for sure.

I don't know why you're being rude. I thought this was a place where people could talk about their problems and frustrations. I've heard that people with hyper-competitive numbers often get rejected in advance because schools decide who is genuinely interested in attending. What's the point of having safety net schools in that case?

I interviewed 10/5. My stats are 3.86 cum/ 3.97 sci and 350. I hope I get accepted, the medical school seems nice, and the city is cool as well. Why haven't I heard back yet?!?! People are getting acceptances that interviewed after me! (Congrats to those who did get accepted though).

I don't know exactly how the interview selection process works at SLU, but I think maybe they look heavily at your personal statement to see if you're a good fit for the school. Honestly otherwise I don't know how you couldn't get an interview; a 39Q is an insane score. I applied later than you(Sep 6) and got my interview invite 8 days later. From what I got reading about SLU, and more importantly meeting some of the students and speaking with Dr. Walsh during my interview, there is an atmosphere of wanting to serve. I'd call them up to see if everything is in order, you know never know, maybe your file just slipped through the cracks.

I really hope I get in, the more I read about the school, the more it spoke to me; the Jesuit philosophy espouses so many values I think make the ideal doctor. Besides the relatively high tuition, everything I've learned about the school has gotten me more excited about the thought of going to SLU. Oh, and Dr. Walsh was awesome; I had prepared for an interrogation(though I had heard that SLU's interviewers were fairly casual), instead we had a conversation, with him making lots of jokes 😀, and I probably asked as many questions as he did.

Well here's to hoping 😀

Also, what email address sends out the emails of acceptance/denial?

I know exactly how you feel, I interviewed 9/21 and still haven't heard anything. I sent them an e-mail yesterday and am still waiting a response. So frustrating!

They ask for a $100 payment to "indicate my intent to register as a first-year student." I'm confused...Is this just a deposit? Or does it lock SLU in as my school for next year? I'm not sure how this works

It is a deposit. Don't read too much into it. Every school asks for such deposits. DO schools sometimes ask for 1000 dollar deposits. At least at MD schools these deposits are sometimes refundable. at do schools they are often non refundable.

This isn't locking or binding that you will only attend slu. All it is doing is holding your seat at slu.

If you get in somewhere else that you prefer over slu you can still pull out. I'm not sure on their policy though of whether it is a refundable or non refundable deposit.

Good luck.

Congrats on the acceptance.

I still have yet to here from SLU

My friend got accepted to SLU a week or 2 ago or something like that. He is from the area originally and his dad works at WashU.

Thanks. I did like the school a lot and I can't think of a city I'd rather live in than St. Louis. - the tuition is out of this world though! I do keep on hearing that SLU produces better clinical physicians than WashU - just more approachable, and down-to-earth people. Hope you hear back soon.

Does anyone know if SLU holds applications or rejects pre-interview? I have been waiting for a few months since I was complete. When is the latest they will offer interviews? :xf:

Interview season is in full-swing through April (and yes, people still get flat-out acceptances when they interview that late... but they also pull from the wait-list through the end of July). Don't get worried yet.

Does anyone know SLU's policy on sending/emailing update letters post-secondary/pre-interview? I emailed them last week but haven't gotten a reply yet. Thanks!

Hey just wanted to let people know who've been waiting for a while not to worry! I was complete June 25th and received my invite October 29, they took over 4 months! I will be interviewing on November 15th, anyone else same day?

Complete 9/18, invite 11/4!! 3.55 BCPM, sub 30 MCAT, pretty good ECs. :soexcited:

Has anyone who interviewed 10/19 heard back yet?? They said 2-3 weeks but I haven't heard back yet and was wondering if anyone else had..
