Interview Invite today!
As of 2pm Western Standard Time the earliest interview open was actually 1/25 and another one in Jan. In Feb pretty much every single monday/tuesday was available.
I dunno when they interview until but there seems to be plenty of spots available.
Good Luck Everyone!
You kiddin' me. Some people are here sweating bullets wanting to get an interview and yet they have tons of spaces available. I understand the secondary isn't due Feb 15 but geese! I guess they are just playing their cards right, looking for the best they can find. I am sure there are a few ppl on their waiting list too. This place is just a few miles away from me...I would give my left leg to be there.
The admissions office actually really keeps up with processing applications and such (which I find really impressive considering the number of applications and the fact that they're in the process of moving their office right now). They also tend to have rather large interview groups. As soon as they offer interviews, they try to have an interview date available within a couple weeks of then so that they can continue offering interviews late into the interview season.
Waitlisted today :/ Let's talk wait list activity... anybody know? High/low, if movement happens before may?
If you don't mind me asking, when did you interview and how did they notify you?
Does SLU have streaming lectures? Is attending luctures required? This is pretty important to me, as I like the idea of dividing my time in the first two years in a flexible way.
Also, Is the average indebtedness of $173,000 that is posted at http://www.medicalschoolsinusa.com/St_Louis_University_School_of_Medicine.html an accurate number? It is lower than adding the 4 years Cost of Attendance posted on SLU's website, yet they said most people only receive $2500 per year of financial aid. Is the real number closer to $260,000? If so that is a big difference.
SLU posts all of the lectures on the class websites (powerpoint, audio, and a combined one). Attending lectures is not required but attending an occasional small group is. It's all dependent on the class. We had required anatomy labs about every 3 or 4 days for the first 10 weeks, nothing really required during the second part of last semester (even epidemiology small groups and cell bio lab were optional), we have clinical skills maybe once every 3 weeks or so throughout the first year, and we currently have to come in for two hours twice a week for genetics small groups (similar to PBL).
Also, when looking at indebtedness, you have to consider that some students are attending for free (those in the armed forces, a couple of the MD/PHDs, etc.); so, those numbers will be skewed.
I interviewed at SLU in December but I can't remember if there was much opportunity to do clinical research. Does anyone know about this?

Also, I noticed SLU's match lists have been pretty great. Any ideas why the USMLE scores are so high? Do they teach to the USMLE?
High WL activity imo, but won't see movement till May. Hang tight. I suggest sending letters of update etc.
there are also alot of students that do research with WashU (right down the street)
SLU gives 8 weeks to study and they have been revamping their classes to test clinically as presented in USMLE. I believe they are above national avg for step 1. 2010 was an impressive match.
So I interviewed in early november and was placed on the waitlist just a couple of days ago. I was really hoping for this school to work out! Can anyone comment on how the waitlist movement is? And also, when do they start accepting people off the waitlist? My interviewer was Dr. David Walsh. I really want to go for medicine here and was wondering what else I can do besides sending an interest letter at this point. Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks
Is WashU pretty open to having SLU med students around then? What's the relationship like between the students at the two schools?
Anyone have any insight into housing prospects, particularly if there are any med school fraternities or housing specifically directed toward medical students?

Also, is the simulation center mainly useful for people thinking about ER or is it really important practice for all med students?
Waitlisted today. Not what I expected, or at least was hoping for. I love this school. May is going to be a LONG wait. Think positively though, right?
Should I wait a while to send my letter of intent/ update? I'm out of school, so there are no grades to report or anything of that nature. My focus would be more to share my enthusiasm about SLU and assure the committee I'll likely enroll if accepted. Any suggestions?
I have an interview here in 5 days. Does anyone know anything about my interviewer, Dr. Michael Railey?
Thanks
He interviewed me. I think it went well, though I was waitlisted. He's the diversity dean. Look him up! Good luck!
I hope you are joking...
Waitlisted today.
I have a question.
Does Saint Louis reject people after interview?
Or does everyone get on the alternate list?
Sorry to hear that, but keep your head up...I believe the waitlist at this school moves quite a bit.
To answer your question, I'm not quite sure. I was under the impression that someone could be outright rejected after the interview.
If you don't mind me asking, when was your interview and how were you notified?
Hello,
My online itinerary at SLU says the first thing scheduled for the interview day is the interview with a faculty member at 10am. I just want to make sure if this means there is nothing before 10am that I am supposed to be at. Having been to other interviews, I just thought it was weird that there isn't an introductory session or anything listed on the itinerary. I just wanted to check to make sure I don't show up 2 hours late.
Thank you for your help.
Well, I'm an alternate too. Damn it. Guess I'll have to send in that deposit to my next choice, which I'm grateful for, but I really wanted SLU.
**Anybody know when the waitlist at SLU really starts moving?**
Interviewed 12/20, notified by email yesterday 1/28 of my alternate status.
Rejected (pre-interview) via email today 🙁. Been getting a lot of rejections this week...
Complete 8/5, OOS applicant.

Since other people seem to be doing it...
Has anybody interviewed with Dr. Duane Moore?

I haven't gotten one yet but I'll be here right with you man! 👍
Great question. I'm wondering the same... I just keep checking my email because I don't know why they wouldn't.
Probably not, the rejection email actually came yesterday (Jan 31) at 8:06am, I posted at 3am that night lol. So it seems you are still safe.
GL to you guys!!
Wow shows how much I know. Thank you very much....btw what part of California are you from? Northern, Southern? I lived in Southern California for 18 years then decided it wasnt a good fit for me anymore...lol. Now its a 10 degrees here in the Midwest! Oh man, I'm jealous. I would like to imagine that its the same way in St Louis right now.
