Where did you find this information? So it looks like there's 457 people on the waitlist, and that 74 people need to withdraw before anyone's pulled off the waitlist since the incoming class is 180 people. Looking at this, I'd say it's possible that the waitlist moves very little.

I got it from the Dean of the School of Medicine in his May newsletter. The incoming class will have about 200 students.

Not quite. The maximum number of waitlisted people is indeed 457, however, I'm sure that many people got rejections even after being interviewed. waitlist is somewhere between 0 and 457 obv.,

On May 15th, when those 74+ people decide to go somewhere else, they will start pulling ppl off the waitlist

I've never heard of anyone getting rejected post-interview (without getting waitlisted first), so it's likely that 457 people are on the waitlist.

The waitlist shuffles alot around may 15th as people have to decide to either accept or decline. Most people holding a position could have two schools that they are debating between. I mean to hold a position just means to pay a 100 dollars, which I'm sure most people do to buy them time to decide what school to go to.

Yeah, hopefully you're right and a lot of people drop.. 457 is actually the max number of people that could be on the waitlist. While no one is rejected post interview, there are a number of people that have withdrawn themselves from the waitlist.

For those on the waitlist, what are your stats?
Mine are:
MCAT: 31O
GPA: 3.87
2+ years research, typical volunteer experience.

3.66/3.8grad GPA, 35R, 130 hrs hospital, EMT cert, TA for two upper div science courses, tutor in underserved area, mentor for teen program, some language courses, pulmonary clinical trials research tech, one paper in J of Asthma, another pending, I don't remember what else I've done with my life XD. Might have to go to a Caribbean school (St. George's)...hey at least I won't be distracted there. But I guess the "stigma" of going to a Carib school is starting to become more and more unfounded these days! Besides, if you're good then patients don't care where you studied at.

"Admissions: To date, the School of Medicine admissions office has received 6,383 applications for the class of 2015. Of these applicants, 926 applicants have been interviewed; 469 have been accepted; 254 are holding positions. Of the 254 holding positions, 48.8 percent are women and 10.4 percent are underrepresented minorities."

Thanks for that information!!! It looks like waitlist movement is still up in the air as to how much it can truly move. Nevertheless, it was nice of you to provide us with some numbers to work with. 🙂

Does SLU drug test? If so, when must the results be in by?

Hey guys I will be withdrawing my acceptance in the next few days. Do I just send an email to admissions? I'm not sure how to go about doing this.

Gd luck to WLers! I have been in your shoes far too often and hope you all the best! 🙂

whenever it is, I hope you fail. get some perspective dude, are drugs really that important to you?

Firstly, pretty sure they do not drug test.

Secondly, pretty condescending, motomed. If anyone needs to get perspective, it's you. If people choose to use drugs and sacrifice their health, so be it. Continue your drug-free ways without trumping on others and their decisions of how to live their lives.

blah blah blah.... it's illegal, it's stupid, and doctors shouldn't be using drugs, period, the end. if you're dumb enough to defend it, I hope you fail sooner rather than later. if you don't take your career seriously enough to just plain stop using drugs, regardless of your feelings on their safety or legality, then I don't want you as a colleague.

how about you call up the school, identify yourself, and then ask them the question about drug testing, since you seem to think it's no big deal....

lol.. Yeah, you're right, I really need to get some perspective. My whole world has been turned upside down since I took a hit from that joint at a party.. You've given me the wake up call I needed. Thank you so much for your tough love.

Psych. Don't be such a judgemental hater.

I would, but I'm already a student here 🙂. GL finding those perfect colleagues of yours. Annnnddd back to the discussion of SLU...

I just wanted to reiterate that point after looking at your post history. Get laid or something. Pretty much every time you post in a thread, it's some sort of hateful trolling. I can't imagine what you must be like in person. I don't want antisocial trolls as colleagues.

I just sent my withdrawal email to the admissions office. Good luck to everyone and I hope my spot goes to one of ya'll. Regardless of where you go, we're all Class of 2015!

Strange. When I read the question, I just took it as someone who wants to know the requirements they need to fulfill to go to SLU. Like how SLU does a criminal background check. Interesting that the first thought was the assumption the person asking the question actually does recreational drugs.

I thought the same thing, but I guess people are quick to jump to conclusions. Good luck to those of you still on the wait list, and feel free to pm me with questions.

Just withdrew my spot from the alternate list. :luck: everyone!

Withdrew my acceptance. Good luck alternate list!

I'm assuming he's referring to MJ. MJ is less harmful than alcohol. It is quickly being decriminalized in fact in some states it is no longer a criminal offense to posses. Do you think they should test doctors for alcohol? Yes it is technically illegal but laws are made by career politicians who don't want to be too controversial. Also, slavery was once legal and alcohol was made illegal for a few years and people still drank it. Oh ya and women weren't allowed to vote by law hmmmm makes you think huh. I know doctors who smoke and people in medical school who do too. It doesn't matter. If you want to do MJ on your own time no one should care as long as it doesn't affect your work. Were you really brainwashed by all that anti-MJ propaganda in the 70s, 80s, and 90s that was created by political interest groups. BTW, the federal government does not fund anti-MJ commercials anymore because they have proven useless. Prescription drugs do alot more harm than MJ and they are completely legal if you have a prescription. Stop spreading this nonsense about smoking MJ. Think for yourself (not what politicians spew) and don't think for others.

Ay caramba! (Get it? Bart Simpson? Alright, enough with my lame jokes.)

Seems like we've got quite the controversy here, but let's save it for the general threads and keep on topic for this one. Today's the big day for multiple acceptances. Good luck to all of my fellow waitlisters as things start moving in the next couple of weeks!

First of all, and I'm not aiming this at anyone specifically because I don't know who is waitlisted and who's not, you should all realize that the admissions committee follows SDN. I'm not in the admissions office so I don't know for sure, but I would think that saying dumb things on here can alter your position on the waitlist and it's not too hard to figure out who is who.

Secondly, to anyone that feels the need to post nonconstructive things such as your uninformed judgements and comebacks. Do everyone here a favor and either find the appropriate thread or send a PM. Thanks.

+1

To everyone who has posted about withdrawing, best of luck at the schools you have decided on, and thanks for coming back here and letting us know! It's def nice to hear some news so I don't lose all of my sanity while waiting 🙂 Let's go, AL!!

Actually if you want to be anonymous it's not that hard just don't say things that can ID you or if you really want to be careful use different user names for different threads. I doubt the adcoms who are busy doctors have that much time or really care to waste time figuring out who you are. Unless the FBI works with adcoms you should be fine. Paranoid much? Don't worry it's just the Internet!

While you may be able to in theory, I can tell you that most of us in my med school class knew by the end of orientation who was who on SDN. People aren't very careful online, and it can come back to bite you.

yeah thanks for the history lesson. here's the bottom line: it's illegal and if you get caught it will be a major stain on your record and will have the potential to impact you for the rest of your career. so the fact that it isn't that bad for you, may be legal soon, you know people who do it, and that women didn't used to be able to vote is irrelevant. that some people are willing to take that risk tells me they either aren't taking their career very seriously or are suffering from a severe lack of judgment, and for what? to get high once in a while? blue collar workers around the country are held to a higher standard than that. I don't think it's too much to ask for a bunch of aspiring physicians to stay within the boundaries set by the law regardless of personal feelings when it comes to things like drugs and alcohol.... if you think smoking weed is such a defensible and worthy endeavor, how about you mention that the next time you're at an advancement committee meeting or a residency interview. see how that goes. see how reasonable they find your rationale. cost benefit analysis.... not worth the risk... at all.....

not going to SLU, so I'll check out of this thread and wish you all the best.

Hey all,
Does Saint Louis accept community college credits? I took general chemistry at a community college and I wanted to make sure. Sorry if this has been asked/answered elsewhere.

Your best bet is to just contact the admissions office to make sure it counts since it's pretty important. 314.977.9870 or email [email protected]

Has there been any alternate list movement? Anyone got accepted from the list yet? 🙂

I'm also curious to know! Anyone receive any news at all?

I am itching to give them a call to inquire about my position on the waitlist, but the AL Update e-mail did say that the Committee doesn't release information regarding rank 🙁 Do you guys think they'd give info about more general ranking, e.g. top 1/3, middle, etc.?...

From what I've read on past year's threads, I don't think they'll tell you anything.

I just very unexpectedly got an email of acceptance about 15 minutes ago. Interviewed 2/20, waitlisted 3/28. Wanted to let everyone know that waitlist is moving!

Hey first off congrats guys! Did you both receive emails?

Congrats to all those accepted! Hopefully there's more movement these coming days.

plan to withdraw tomorrow, so another spot should be opening up soon! good luck to everyone

Hey first off congrats guys! Did you both receive emails?

Thanks! I received my acceptance via email with the subject "Saint Louis University Acceptance". For those on the waitlist, I sent in a letter of interest, then a letter of intent, 2 additional letters of rec I had acquired through the year, updated grades, and notice of an award I won. If you really want off the alternate list, don't be afraid to show them. I think they respond to it.

Good luck everyone! :luck:

Has any one heard anything since the first string of AL acceptances?
