I interviewed at SLU last year, thought I'd chime in. I believe Dr Willmore is the associate dean of admissions. He's also a very awesome guy and rocks a great bow-tie. The students who interviewed with him said he was really cool, just basic stuff and very conversational.

Good to hear! I am interviewing with Dr. Willmore on September 10 and now I'm even more excited!! This will probably be my first interview so it's good to know Ill have a nice guy doing it.

So if my interview is in the afternoon, and I'm staying with a student host, will I just go to campus in the morning with them and hang out? It's not a problem but just wondering

Your student host probably has class. But yes, I doubt they will let you stay in their apartment/house alone. There isn't much to do on the SLUSOM campus, but there is a brand new building (the EU shown on the brochure) that has a nice seating area and a little cafe. The M1s have class in there. There's a shuttle that will take you to the UG campus if you want to see it. The gym you'll have access to as a SLUSOM student is on the UG campus. There's also two libraries and outdoor pools and beach volleyball courts (SLUruba) on the UG campus.

Interview Invite!!! Scheduled for Monday Sept. 10. Anyone else going to be there?

For those still to fill out the secondary, I included a "Why SLU" essay so I guess it can't hurt

Congrats! When were you complete??

I submitted my application on 7/16 and I still haven't received anything from the university yet. My file is complete, but i never received any complete email. My stats are: GPA 3.8+, MCAT 35+, and IL resident.

Can anyone please let me know if some of fellow SDNers are going through the same situation?? Thanks!

When is your interview scheduled? It's been two weeks and I still haven't been matched

I am scheduled for September 10 and was matched with an interviewer hours after scheduling

Did anyone here who has received an interview invite submit their secondary on or after august 5th?

Hey guys. Current M1 here who is more than willing to answer any questions about the school!

How do you like sharing a campus/library with undergrads? I know they can sometimes be obnoxiously loud in the library.

I've only interviewed there, but the medical school and the undergraduate campus are in separate locations. You need a car to get from one to the other.

Right, but nursing/pt/ot (allied health) and some other undergrads have classes on the med campus. I went to SLU UG, and my girlfriend is a SLUSOM student so I know all of this for a fact.

There are regularly allied health students in the med school library. Also there's a shuttle between campuses so you technically don't need a car to go between them.

I feel ya. I don't consider allied health undergrad, I think that's where the confusion came from. I think most med schools have allied health within the same campus anyway.

I don't have a problem sharing a campus, but it would be nice if each school (medicine, dental, PT, whatever) had its own area for studying.. So everyone in that area understood how busy the other students are. I don't know if you got to see the library while interviewing, but it's pretty small and it can get pretty loud depending on who's in there. Did you like the school overall?

Yeah I did like it. Was really disappointing that I didn't get off the waitlist, but at least they gave me another interview. And it's early this time, so hopefully that's a good sign.

Good luck. I'm really hoping I get an interview. My stats are pretty low, so I'm not surprised I haven't gotten one this early.

For those who have interviews, how long did it take from the time you signed up for an interview til the time you got assigned an interviewer? I signed up for an interview and want to start booking a flight ASAP, but I have no idea whether I have a morning or afternoon interview and the flight out of St. Louis leaves at 5...

Mine was pretty quick. I picked a date on the weekend and had an assignment by Monday morning. Some have been assigned within a few hours.

It took about half an hour to get mine.

Today was the first day of class for them I think. I think it's better everyone is together, gives some more excitement to the campus so it is not just the first and second years and only us.

I actually study at the undergrad library and so far I haven't noticed anything. Certainly better than when I was in undergrad. Nothing wrong with getting along.

Interview invite this morning! Schedule for October 2!

Does anyone know if SLU is receptive to "in the area" emails? I have another interview in Missouri and would like to interview at SLU at the same time. I'm not particularly competitive, but I have been complete since mid-July but haven't heard anything.

Does anybody have the u.s. news numbers for SLU (i.e. interviewed vs. accepted vs. matriculated)?

Yea they just renovated the UG library.. They were doing it last year while I was studying for the MCAT.. what a pain. I haven't seen the new first floor yet, but I've heard it's awesome. My girlfriend is an M3 at SLUSOM and her sister is a sophomore at SLU UG.. plus we live right across from the UG campus so I'm around there a lot.

And yea, you're right the UGs started on Monday. I would really love to attend SLU, but I haven't gotten an II yet.. Not sure if I will either, my GPA is very low.

Which Missouri school are you interviewing at?

KCOM. I know it's not that close to St. Louis, but I think it's definitely a distance I can drive. I sent SLU an email; I figured it was worth a shot.

after receiving interview offer and selecting the date,

do they send you another e-mail with the interviewing time and the name of the interviewer?

Wow SLU accepts about three times their class size. Maybe they know a lot of people do not choose to matriculate to their school?

Well that accepted number also includes those accepted off the waitlist so its not like they just hand out 500+ acceptances right away. There is probably a lot of waitlist movement that accounts for those numbers.

Yes, I just got mine this morning, and I scheduled my interview date yesterday.

I would also like to know the answer to this, saw conflicting answers in last years thread.

Please report what they tell you... I have an interview at KCUMB other side of the state but I would love to be able to roll that whole week into interviews if possible. I scheduled my KCUMB interview in October, hopefully that will be enough time to send them an advanced notice and some grades from my SMP.

Has anyone (that has received an interview invite) been complete since 8/1 or later?

I guess it couldn't hurt. I have an interview at KCUMB and I'm considering emailing Mizzou since Columbia is on the way to KC. I'm driving from St. Louis.

Do these "in the area" emails actually work to squeeze out an II?

This is what I got when I sent them the "in the area" email:

"Dear XXX,

Your application is complete and under review by the committee. If the committee can accommodate your travel plans you will be contacted by E-mail. Thank you."

That's what Jefferson told me when I sent an in-the-area. I'm not holding my breath.

I can't tell what you mean by squeezing out an invite, but I doubt you would get an invite that you were not going to get anyway. I believe the schools that are receptive to these emails just pull your app earlier for consideration.

Or Dr. Vincent Gibbons? He's a pediatric neurologist. Looks like a pretty nice guy!

Extremely nice, but is also slightly strange. Smiles a lot? I had him on my neuro rotation, thought I bombed with him just because of his strange affect, but ended up with one of my strongest evaluations.

I could see him asking really deep questions.
