My condolensces, friend. My ex-wife is gf.For the lunch, is it a cafeteria type thing, or do they provide you with some preset meal? Either way, does anyone know if there were gluten free option, or do I send a dietary concern email?
Thanks

We have sandwiches catered in from a local restaurant. You have the choice of ham, turkey, roast beef or vegetarian. But it wouldn't hurt to send an email with any dietary concerns.
Thanks! I should get on that, because that list would cause me to have a very bad day. Oh the joy of being the pain who needs a special meal.

Have only been to one other interview, and I mentioned my issue. They had no problem accomadating it. I'm celiac and even a crumb on my food will make me sick for a few hours, so I can't just pick around 🙁
As for airports, my last trip took about 13 hours, the nuts given on the planes said "may contain wheat", and I can only eat sooo many chips!

Oh no! I pack my own bag of nuts and other snacks....often making a meal of it all at the hotel.
I didn't know if it's a relatively common accommodation (I've only seen vegan options), so I'm glad to see that the school worked with you. That's great! I'm always starving by the time interview day ends.
It's also something to keep in mind when deciding where to go. I've interviewed one or two places that really don't seem to have much variety in restaurants and stores, and I wonder if it would be hard for me to find groceries if I move there.
New to the thread!
II: 10/17 (2.9/2.9/37 OOS)
Interview:12/3 (anyone else gonna be there Monday? PM me!)
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with Dr. Fred Rottnek? I saw him mentioned once in this thread, but no real information. He seems like a really awesome guy, but if anyone can speak with personal experience, or interview experience with him, that would be amazing!
Congrats to all those accepted so far, and good luck and patience for those waiting to hear back on decisions and IIs!
How many people does SLU interview on each interview day?

I emailed SLU last night and they responded this morning. They have gf rolls that they can make the lunch with, so I am good to go 😀
I would always make the request, and I think generally schools are going to be pretty good about it.
I am also concerned about each cities options; eating is hard enough, and the frozen bread in most grocery stores tastes like dirt.
Do the interviews work such that half the group interviews in the morning and half in the afternoon and then everyone comes together for lunch/tour? And if you interview in the morning, your obligations are over after lunch?
alternate email today , interviewed in mid-october
feels bad..

Sorry to hear. Feels bad man... 🙁
I've heard that SLU rarely, if ever, rejects post-interview. Interviewees are either accepted or waitlisted. Can anyone confirm?

6 interviews, 3 wait lists, 3 pending decision.
Who knows that the 3 pending decisions won't turn into acceptances?
Good luck holmes.Nobody does. Just saying that I know how it feels to get wait listed. I can't even imagine getting wait listed 6 times in a row. I'm expecting 2/3 of those pending decisions to come in the next two weeks.
Accepted!!!! Just received the e-mail!!! Interviewed 10/16
Thank You! 🙂Congratulations!! Welcome to the class 🙂
Can someone (maybe who interviewed more recently, or a current student) remind me what the "typical day" is like for a SLU student?

i thought waitlist movement starts in may?
Lecture from 9am-noon. Then afternoons typically off for studying, or sometimes there's a lab or small group session.
My interview is coming up, and since I'm interviewing in the morning, I won't be able to talk to med students/tour the school before my interview. Can any students comment on the curriculum (according to their website it looks like they'll be implementing a new curriculum for next year's incoming class), clinical experiences offered during the first two years, and what you like/dislike about the school?
If this has already been discussed, just let me know and I'll go searching through the thread. Thanks!
The school is P/F, no ranking whatsoever. My general impression throughout the day was that they were really pushing the whole "laid back" low pressure profile. Everything they said focused on cultivating a cohesive low stress environment. There are free clinics for the lower income populations and a lot of focus group for pretty much anything under the sun.
Pretty sure they are internally ranked. They for sure are told the cut-off for top quartile either after every test or every unit.
Also, clinical years are not P/F.
Hm, I probably misheard. I'll edit that one out then.

Several medical students said that the major improvement of New Curriculum is to enter clinical year earlier and have more time to do electives. Also there is less repetition of content in the first two year.
Man, I really want this school to show me some love. 🙁 Peas?
Hello! I interviewed on 10/22, and I have yet to hear back. We've just gotta hang in there, I guess. =/Has anyone that interviewed on ~Oct 22 heard back yet? Do they email or use snail mail?
