Have you both been waiting a long time... when were you complete? I was complete in September, however I have not received this email. Just curious if there is a cutoff of time you have to wait until you receive an email like that. Thanks!

It's an e-mail you get post-interview; you are either immediately accepted or you are told there is no final decision with regards to your application. It's not something you get pre-interview. GL to you!!

Thank you - Good to know! Im definitely eager to hear back... it seems like its been so long!

This open to everyone (maybe even someone in my same situation/from a similar background)... How receptive is this school towards students who are disadvantaged and first-generation students that are NOT an URM? I am caucasian with a LizzyM score of about 62-64. I know my stats are not incredible but I would like to think that I am a very well rounded applicant with a ton of EC's which make my applicant unique. Thanks for any insight!

One of our tour guides on the day of my interview was not a URM. I think Morehouse really emphasizes students who fit their mission; they look for applicants who are dedicated to giving back and overall who are well-rounded. They are not so much stats-oriented, so I wouldn't worry about your numbers holding you back. Mine were definitely not stellar by any means. Also, I believe Morehouse interviews well into spring (I want to say March?), so there is still plenty of time for you to be invited! I know the wait can be miserable at times. You've already submitted, so now all you can do is cross your fingers and hope! I hope you hear some good news soon 🙂

Awesome, this is a spirit lifter for sure! I definitely feel as though I fit their mission and my entire application (primary and secondary) reflect that!

I interviewed in the first batch and all I got was a letter saying no final decision has been made.
 
Any II's lately? It seems like its been quite a while.

Has anyone ever paid for the secondary with an AmEx? I just noticed that the secondary email stated Visa and Mastercard only but the system didn't have that reminder/clause and it took my card without issue. In fact, the portal shows payment accepted and my credit card company has the charge so I'm guessing it's fine, would just like confirmation that someone else used AmEx and were also okay.
 
Hey everyone! After 3+ months of no word from MSM I finally received an "update" email!
It stated, "Your application is still under consideration for the 2014 entering class as no final decision has been reached. The Office of Admissions will continually update you on your status by either email or postal mail that you have listed on AMCAS. I regret that I cannot predict which candidate will be selected by the Committee on Admissions for a possible interview, as all candidates are considered for possible inclusion in the class."

Has anyone else received this email in the past and then been granted an II? I am not exactly familiar with how MSM does their WL but does this essentially mean I am on a Pre-interview WL? haha

Thanks for any help!
 
I applied 2012-2013 cycle, completed my MSM secondary late August, interviewed mid October and received the "your application is still under review" email around this time last year. I withdrew my application since I was accepted elsewhere & deferred. Yet, late April 2013 I got a phone call from Mr. Hunter saying I was admitted off the waitlist. Just wanted to chime in to give some idea of how long you could be on the waitlist so don't give up hope☺

Thanks! Yeah, I definitely know that an application cycle certainly tests our patience... so much waiting around! I actually have not even interviewed yet - hoping to the get the invite though!

Where did you end up attending med school?
 
Got the email too, I don't think its a hold just more like a "give us some time to process your app to make any type of decision on it" deal. As long as its not a rejection I'm fine with it.
 
Can someone help? I got an email asking to update my grades and activities and am wondering how do I go about doing that?

In my opinion, I would send all updated information to Brandon Hunter. I figure since he is the Director of Admissions is able to update your file. Other then that, I suggest you email or call the Admissions office. Hope that helps!

I emailed the admissions office a couple weeks ago to see if they have received my transcript update but i have yet to hear back from them.

That's kinda weird they haven't responded :/ maybe because of the holidays they haven't had a chance to get to it? I would call them tomorrow and see if your file has been updated. I find calling them instead of emailing works better. Hope that helps 🙂

Got an "Application Update" e-mail that basically is a continued 'no decision' e-mail.

Anyone else get this?

Agreed. I am not entirely sure either, but I would suspect that mine (maybe yours as well) has at least been looked at once and is under consideration only because I was complete back in September. Who knows though!

Yes, this is the second time getting it. I believe the first one was, as someone else said, before the holidays. Now another so I gave them another update. It's not like I have a metric ton to update them on that is relevant to medical school. If I were applying to rabbinical school, yes, medical school not so much! Last year when I applied but was not interviewed I was not given an update email.

I kinda wish they would make up their minds, even though I seriously doubt they are going to accept me. Although if they do, it would be nice to get that now as I really don't want to freeze my butt off for a Michigan interview in winter! Burr!

I know what you mean. I think that movement probably starts after they've conducted all their interviews... so around April/May I guess we should start hearing about movement off of this semi-wait list, lol. Good luck at your interview! Stay warm!

Yes, lol. I interviewed during the first week of October. Received this e-mail twice; once on 11/22 and then the second one yesterday. Posted about it back in November.

I just withdrew my interview invite. So I hope it goes to one of you guys! As far as the interview people have told me it is 2 one on one interview one with a person in the adcom and another who is not. Also they told me it was a very relaxed interview.

Hey there! I haven't really checked the forum very often anymore, so sorry for the late response! I interviewed back in September, and I had such a great experience. The first thing you do as a group is sit in a MS2 class for about an hour. After lecture, everyone goes upstairs and sit in a small conference room, where you pretty much introduce yourself. Your first interview is basically right after introductions, and it can be either your primary or secondary interviewer. Depending on your interviewer they will let you know if they are primary or secondary. While both interviewers are very important, pay special attention to the primary, because they will present you to the AdCom. Your second interview is right after lunch and the tour, so you have plenty of time to relax and prepare for your second interview. Both of my interviews were really relaxing and it felt like I was just having a regular conversation. Be yourself, relax, be honest, and be sure to at least have some questions to ask your interviewers. It shows that you are genuinely interested in the school. That's pretty much it, and I wish you luck 🙂
