Hey guys, don't he surprised if you're IS, high MCAT/GPA and get a rejection. It's the only way OU can maintain its high interview to admission ratio. I was 34, 3.8, IS w/ volunteering, teaching ex., research, etc.. This was the one school I was rejected from early on. I don't know how they could determine fit so early but I'm sure whatever they did was fair. Another one of my friends had 4.0, 35 IS and had the same thing happen. Don't worry, we both got into top 50 med schools elsewhere. It'll be ok.

could be. last year the first (reported) rejection was 8/7, almost 3 weeks after the first acceptances (7/18). doesnt mean much tho either way. good luck to everyone applying!

It just goes to show the ECS do all the talking - I feel like MCAT and GPA are overlooked if you meet their minimums- maybe?

There's no distinguishable patterns to
the process and since it's school-specific, it'd be harder to discern one if a pattern existed. I do think that generally speaking numbers get you through the door and ECs set you apart, but I've also seen ECs get others an interview but then adcoms tell the rejected applicants their mcat wasn't high enough when they called back POST-interview after a rejection to see how they could be improved. Personally, I think that's poor form on the school's part. In fact, at some schools (please don't speculate-I won't name them), I don't think the interviewer even read my file. While I didn't receive an interview at Oakland, I've heard that interviewers know all about you before the interview and that the main secretary even remembers your name.

Well I got a 28 on the MCAT, so I know applying to decent MD programs is more than wishful thinking. Maybe I'm better off playing the lottery. C'mon lucky number 7!!!

It depends on your breakdown. Perhaps you're not in the league for top 20 medical schools, but 10% of applicants with that kind of score still
get into midtier medical schools. Apply broadly and to DO schools and see what happens.

I have academic research, a year of clinical drug research at a reputable hospital, and URM. How to stand out for admissions? Hmm... I have a great personality and love chemistry. That'll make me stand out right? 😀

Haha, I'm not sure. PM me if you wish. If you are what AAMC defines as URM, you should have a good chance.
 
Wowwww. I had completed and paid for this secondary on July 4th! But I forgot to click submit until today =(. So now my application is done 4 weeks instead of the recommended 2. Gonna email and explain my mistake =/.

I would definitely email or call to explain because not doing so would show them you really didn't care about submitting it early. You have nothing to lose by contacting them IMO.

Already emailed them! Either way looks bad, but hopefully they can understand, and there is proof of payment from weeks ago so that helps as well.

Thanks for making me paranoid and subsequently go on each secondary website to see if I had actually submitted.

But yes, definitely give them a call. I talked to a lady there about course requirements and she was more than friendly/helpful! I'm sure they will understand.

Haha as soon as I realized I made this mistake I also went back and checked every single secondary and compiled into a spreadsheet. Luckily the only one I forgot to submit was this one, ironically the first secondary I submitted. I called them and the lady was nice and said mistakes happen. Also sent an email. Guess we will see!

Same except complete on the 28th! One of my top choices too! I just want to hear something haha
 
Also according to their website they have only filled 33 of their interview spots. So well over 90% remain!

I was complete the same day and am in the same boat. Anyone complete 7/2 heard anything at all? If they are reviewing chronologically, I don't know if they've gotten to ours yet?
 
IS Post-secondary rejection here (3.63c/3.57s/32)! After seeing all of my friends also get them last year (with stats way better than mine) I wasn't surprised. Good luck to everyone else applying. 1 down, 18 to go >_>

Uh-oh! My condolences for your rejection! You're making me nervous, these are almost my exact stats. However, I have seen people with insanely high stats get rejected from Oakland. I wonder what exactly they're looking for?

I'm sorry to hear that 🙁 makes me nervous since my stats are lower than yours! If you don't mind me asking, when were you complete?

Idk, I thought I fit MOST of their "ideal" criteria haha... except my clinical experience has been mostly paid (only 100ish hours of volunteering and not a ton of non-clinical community service). I even had "excels at an activity at the national level" down 😛

Goes to show that there NO guarantees in this process.
 
Does IS/OOS matter here? MSAR says its a public school but on Oakland's website they say they are a private school and have no IS v OOS bias....?

I think that OUWB is a private medical school, but OU is a public university. Not sure about the bias though, I would probably just consult the MSAR and previous acceptance data for that.

On MSAR, it says that OUWB is about 50/50 IS/OOS.

No email, but according to website I was compete July 2/14. Has anyone ever been on hold at this school? I assume that since rejections have been sent out I'm not in the worst possible situation, but still sucks.

Put on hold this morning... Complete on 6/30 with 3.69cGPA, 30MCAT, OOS.
 
I told myself I wouldn't check my email today until after my class today but y'all are making that very hard. I'm hoping they are also sending out interviews? 😕
 
Put on hold today as well...not sure how to take it :/
 
Completed 7/9, IS with 3.75cGPA/38MCAT -- Put on hold. :*(

Not the greatest way to start off the cycle...
