2014-2015 Rosalind Franklin University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
According to last years thread, they sent small-pool emails and then interview invites at the very end of August. Looks like we've got a while
This wait is killing me! Not a single school I've applied to yet has sent out IIs

Submitted today. Seems like everyone had a little way until they got a complete notification? I'm still waiting on a letter so I might be awhile too.

Do schools consider when you submitted your essays when placing you in line for screening? For example, let's say someone submits their essays on 7/21 but isn't complete until like 7/30 and another person submits and gets complete on 7/30. Will those two be placed in the same "spot in line" for screening?

This kind of distinction is extremely unimportant. Worry about the big stuff, like how you're currently doing in school or how your job is going. You can't change when your essays are in, so it's just silly to think about this kind of minutia.

I understand. I'm just worried my review will be pushed back a couple weeks because one of my letter writers is taking longer than i'd like.

I hear that you're worried. Don't let this process get to you; use logic to fight the panic.

Applying here. Submitted secondary yesterday! Lets hope for the best! Good luck everyone! 🙂

Was verified in June and still have not received this secondary.

Submitted 7/14 and got the complete e-mail this morning. Forgot they send complete e-mails and got all excited to see something from Rossy in my inbox...

I submitted my secondary 7/9 and still no complete email. Should I email them to make sure that they have received my application?!

My husband submitted the same day as me and hasn't received his yet, even though I got mine today. It might not be going in a super chronological order? Call if you're concerned, though.

Finally got the complete email  now the wait begins...

Complete email this morning, submitted July 15.

does anyone know when they start scheduling interviews?

Last year it looks like they small pooled in late august. They pull interviews from the small pool, and if you're not small pooled, you won't hear anything until they send out rejections.

This is what I gleaned looking through last years thread. I was complete at the beginning of July, and the email said "4-6 weeks", so perhaps we will hear about small pooling and interviews after that time period 🙂

Did you turn down your BMS seat? you know that we'll be waiting until January for interviews, right?
What?!😱 But that is not fair 🙁 why making a decision about BMS just keeps getting more complicated for me?!

BMS students have, historically, always been interviewed in the winter and only accepted in the spring. It makes sense considering the program relies on your performance in basic science courses to make a decision about your admission to medical school.

My suggestion and the suggestion of every informed person on this site is this: If your GPA is acceptable (3.5) AND your MCAT is acceptable (30+), you should not be doing an SMP like the BMS program; bolstering your application with work, research, and volunteering is generally preferable. The BMS program, along with other SMPs, are programs of last resort. In my opinion, they're meant for students with subpar GPAs and MCAT scores who otherwise would not be able to receive an acceptance to medical school to prove themselves and gain an acceptance.

On the other hand, if either your GPA or MCAT is subpar (and can not be improved with reasonable effort), this kind of program might be for you.

Think carefully before accepting a spot.

Will I be docked if I just send in three LORs in instead of my committee letter? My committee letter interview went awful, and I'm afraid my committee letter might have some negative elements. I only have 3 LOR as is (only one science LOR), so my options are limited for schools I can send individual LORs to. Do you think it would look bad if I send in individual letters instead of the committee letter? FWIW, I come from a school with 100 med school applicants/year, so I imagine it's pretty well known that my school has a committee. My stats are 3.65/3.54/35.

No one will care.

Ask about your committee letter, though. You might be able to get more information.

FYI, if anyone is having problems submitting the application fee, it's because you used the wrong browser. It says on the top of the application to use Internet Explorer. Just a heads up for anyone about to submit.

I used IE, but I still don't get to the payment page. Is anyone else having this issue?

Has anyone figured this payment issue out? I originally submitted on Safari, then I re-submitted on IE (probably a bad idea, but whatever; I wanted to get it in), and neither time did any payment link pop up.

Hmmm I wonder why I didn't get the secondary? Anyone else verified day one and still no email?

I'm reasonably certain that the school screens based on perceived odor; the application interface has become quite advanced in recent years.

I have a question that was probably answered earlier...but I have internet issues and can't look through all of the pages of this forum..anyway. I am thinking about adding this school, is it too late to do it now? I wanted to apply here since day 1, but I didn't because when I called the school, they told me the letter from a health professional was required...I do not have this letter and have pretty average stats. Can anyone offer advice? If it is definite that the physician letter is no longer a req, is it too late? Has anyone gotten an interview without the physician letter?

Thank you!

They haven't even sent out the first round of interview invites yet; how could it be too late?
