Hey guys! I just want to share my stats and see if you think im competitive. The freak out has begun with not having many interviews yet and I wanted to see if Tufts is still an option for a ii
Completed 9/13/2014
MCAT 9/9/10
sGPA 3.82
cGPA 3.95
tons of ec including being exec for my sorority and different premedical socitites and 7 LORs
thanks guys!
HI, Have you gotten any interviews yet. I only have one and am starting to freak out too.

does anyone know what the timeline/cycle is for maine track decisions? i interviewed on 10/31 and i remember them talking about a maine admissions comm meeting that then takes recommendations to the tufts comm for approval...but i'm just not sure when all that shakes down. anyone who's heard back have a rough estimate of when i might hear?
They usually meet around the last week of the month, and then send out decisions a week or two later if I'm remembering correctly. So you'd be up for discussion at the end-of-November meeting, but I don't know how their scheduling works around Thanksgiving, so that meeting may or may not have happened already.

You'll probably have to retake that MCAT I'm afraid. 28 is bottom 10% for most schools.

I disagree. A lot of it depends on which schools you apply to. I have similar stats and have already been admitted to one school, have had four interviews, and am waiting to hear back from 4 others. If someone doesn't get invited to interview at a school, it is not necessarily just because of your numerical stats. There are many factors including, but not limited to, one's academic performance and test scores. Keep your head up med11d.

Yes, but Tufts is almost certainly not taking people with a 28. And If they do, I would imagine it be less than a handful and those handful probably have outrageous EC's.

Yes but med11d mentioned that they didn't have any interview invites yet. It is obviously possible to get interviews with a 28, but if OP is not successful this cycle, the MCAT score would be the most obvious fix before next cycle.

Thank you for your input. Unfortunately, last year during my MCAT prep my father was diagnosed with stage four cancer so my MCAT was not my primary source of concern. I think them having that will hopefully give some push to my interview invites its just frustrating that i dedicated all of college and my life to this career and one test will determine so much and if i took it at any other time i would of done so much better i was just not mentally there at that time

I have gotten 2 MD interview invites and all of my DO schools invited me (which is 3)

I'm really sorry to hear that about your father. You would think they would sympathize...hopefully you get the opportunity to explain the situation if you haven't already in your app.

And no doubt it's incredibly frustrating. I know it may not be what you were aiming for, but those like Goro will tell you that you can easily get into a DO program with those numbers. Depends how badly you really want to be a doctor...

I interviewed for the Maine track 2 weeks after you and they told us early December! I'd guess your date was combined with ours and you'll hear then too! Good luck!

With 5 interviews the freakout should not be happening at all. I was complete mid-July and didn't get my II from Tufts until November. If you have what they want, you'll get in.

I've been complete since 8/20 and still no II. Anyone else in the same situation? Does Tufts do silent rejections?

I was complete 8/10 and have not heard anything either.

Withdrew from my interview in January, hope it goes to one of you guys. I'm afraid my heart belongs to the Midwest...

Literally about to post the exact same thing! Tufts is a great school, and Boston is a great city, but you just can't beat that Midwest nice. Hope one of you can grab my 1/20 spot. Best of luck all!

Did you send any updates or anything before you got the II?

I have a friend that interviewed interviewed around the 18th and has not heard back news yet. He is worried he is going to get deferred, but I told him they may not have yet reviewed his app. Did anyone interview around that time and get a decision yet?

I interviewed the 18th of November and did not hear anything today. Most likely bad news.

Did any Maine track interviewees hear back today? Or does anyone know if those files are dealt with separately?

For those who are worried, I received my acceptance phone call last month a day or two before most people got theirs. So just because you didn't get a phone call today doesn't mean you got deferred or rejected. The phone calls are spread out over a few days. Good luck to all those who interviewed last month!

Accepted today and could not be any happier! 11/13 interview. Definitely my top choice right now...does anyone know if they are going to Tufts for sure yet?

So I know a bunch of people are wondering this (myself included, I was complete late August and haven't heard anything). I looked through last year's thread, and the pre-interview rejections started coming out at the end of February last year.

Any confirmation/insight from someone who knows more about Tufts' review process would be much appreciated! 🙂

are you regular or maine track?

do you think there's a difference regarding what you're saying between maine and regular

I am on the regular track and I'm not sure if there is a difference between the maine and regular.

Rejected pre-interview-sent in 2ndary in July. I'm very bummed! Still--best of luck to those in the running, and congrats to those with II and acceptances!

So sorry. When did you interview? Did they send the rejection via email?

This was pre-interview thus email. Sucks. I actually got an interview+WL the first time I applied.

Sorry for all the rejections; guess the pre-interview rejection path from last year (according to SDN, at least) isn't holding true. Which makes this process so much scarier o___O

Dear Not Worthy of Interviewing Applicant,

We regret that we will not be able to offer you a position in the TUSM Class of 2019.

As you know, the competition for admission to our medical school is extremely intense. Because our program can accommodate only a limited number of students, and because so many highly qualified candidates have sought admission to the program, we have had to turn away many very good candidates.

Selection of candidates is a complex process that involves the consideration of many factors and the assessment of a candidate’s strengths relative to other candidates in the pool. Due to the complexity and relativity of the process, we are unable to respond to inquiries as to the specific reasons for particular Admissions Committee decisions.

We hope that you have gained or will gain admission to another medical school of your choice. If not, we suggest that you consult with your college pre-medical advisor or another knowledgeable individual who is familiar with your background, interests, and motivation.

Please note that this message applies to all academic programs and clinical training tracks in the TUSM entering class.

Thank you for applying to Tufts University School of Medicine. Please accept my personal best wishes for your future.

Sincerely,

John A. Matias, M.Ed.
Associate Dean of Admissions and Enrollment Services
Tufts University School of Medicine

Has Tufts sent out any Maine Track decisions? I interviewed in November, but have heard nothing either way. I have a deposit due at another school very soon. I'm starting to lose it. The wait... I just... I can't.

a friend of mine and I interviewed on the same day for the maine track late in october and my friend was accepted the other day. radio silence for me, though.

another maine track question for anyone who might know...

I know that Tufts itself sends out rejection and deferral emails, but should I expect the same from the maine track? I interviewed in late october, and I'm wondering if the maine track doesn't notify its deferred applicants and instead just keeps them in the wings, re-reviewing them the next month. I just need to stop obsessively checking my email and holding my cell phone if that's true (for my own sanity)!
