2015-2016 Dartmouth College (Geisel) Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think you have a stalker. :scared:
I do. I have for quite some time on SDN now. They seem to read every post I make and grow angrier and angrier until they can't take it anymore, create a new username, and use it to vent about how terrible I am, out-of-context referencing random comments and jokes from posts I made weeks or sometimes even months ago. I've stopped trying to refute them or explain the out-of-context bits to other posters...I think most people can see that this is pure vitriol and won't judge me for whatever out-of-context quotes they dredge up.
That's seriously creepy. Do u know them in real life or something? If they're targeting u, change your username!! 🙁
Nope, none of my irl acquaintances know my SDN name. Changing my username wouldn't help, and it would mainly inconvenience me. It's not really a bother since they're so over-the-top it doesn't really hurt me any.

Well, hang in there. I hope this isn't a person you know in real life. Be safe!

Quoting so it doesn't get buried in this other nonsense.

Unfortunately, I can't give you much beyond: this process is entirely nonlinear. No news is good news until the cycle is over. It is perfectly normal for you to go months without hearing back from them, but you never know! The only thing you shouldn't do at this point is worry...it's no use and it's too soon!
Yes back on topic. @whitelotus23700 mehc012 is right. They've interviewed and rejected people who were complete both before and after you. Dartmouth seems to be quick about letting you know when they've made a decision on you. It seems since the first round of acceptances they've sent out rejections/ii's once a week. Assuming they are being kind hearted, it seems (i hope) they'll only sent II's this week.

My friend took this pic when she interviewed at Dartmouth during the previous cycle. It seems like an awesome place!

Hey guys, Happy Thanksgiving this week. Hope you all are faring well this cycle.

I went complete way after most people on here so not hoping for anything in the near future.

Does anyone know when the actual review process "ends"?

When you get the II or rejection. If you look through the thread you'll see that their process is non-chronological. There are folks here who have been complete since day one without so much as a peep.

For those who are current students at Dartmouth, how is the weather there in January? I have an interview in Cleveland and could schedule an interview for Dartmouth two days afterwards. Do you think I could be a risk for getting snowed in?

Ditto for 12/15.... Do I need to rent a 4WD, bc I'd rather not but better pay the super high fee than be stranded......

LOL @ Bankhead. Was he banned? I hope not, he was crude but he made some valid points imo.

No, Bankhead did not make any valid points. What the hell?

Also, does nobody understand what the difference between the male and female symbols are? Why do so many people just call all posters "he" even though they have quite clearly identified themselves as female?

It's debatable, but I think he/she did... And what symbols are you talking about? I'm not sure where to look

edit: i see it now, never paid much attention before.

No, just personally attacking another poster is not "valid points."

Look at the avatar. The default ones are either a question mark, or a male or female symbol. You can also try clicking on their username and a lot of the time the user has specifically added their gender. For instance, I can see that you, RudyRude, identify as male.

Point taken. But the personal attacks and crude language aside, I still think she made some valid arguments. The user she was replying to does have attitude issues, he/she followed me around on various threads earlier this cycle because I asked someone if they were URM. It really upset him/her for some reason ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How is any of that a valid argument or have anything at all to do with the 2015-2016 Dartmouth College (Geisel) Application Thread? It sounds like a bunch of childish butthurt to me.

And on that note, to get this thread on topic:

Dartmouth. I thought I had a good shot at an II here because my stats are in the target range and I have a really good nontrad story. But they have completely ignored me after being complete for eleven weeks. Sad.

I certainly did not 'follow you around on various threads'. I said that I thought your implications were rude, you disagreed, and we had an admittedly tetchy discussion about that. That's it...it was (or should have been) done with whenever that happened. I am not sure why you are bringing it up here, as it is not at all relevant to Dartmouth med 2015-2016 applicants.

Sorry that you dislike me and think those hateful posts are cool, but nobody in here cares about what a terrible person I am. If you, or Bankhead, or anyone else wants to discuss my rancid personality, PM me or make your own thread about it or whatever, but please let's stop using this thread for the conversation.

Someone in this thread made a comment. I commented on his comment. You questioned my opinion, I explained. It's pretty simple stuff.

You thought I was rude for literally typing one word. It pertains to this thread because someone here asked why I agreed with another posters comments.

"Sorry that you dislike me and think those hateful posts are cool"

Lol. Instead of replying your slander, I'm going to redirect you to Bankheads first reply. Have a good night. : )

Does anyone have travel suggestions from the DC area?

Thanks for all the constructive, application appropriate info Cotterpin and RudyRude.

Depending what your budget is and when you're leaving, you have two main options: fly or drive.

Flights are around $150-200 roundtrip from BWI-BOS, and then you take the Dartmouth shuttle to Hanover.

Driving, you're looking at 12 hours of driving which more than likely omits it as an option unless you plan to leave very early. In which case, take I-95N to Baltimore, I-83N -> I-78E, I-278N -> I-95N, finally I-91N through Hartford up to Hanover. I've done almost this exact trip going to Mt. Washington and it's not bad if you enjoy road trips.

How much is the Dartmouth Coach?

@mehc012 and @Cotterpin I think RudyRude just thought they were good points because he's a reapplicant and obviously is still trying to learn how to not come off as an egotistical jerk himself

Now we can all quit being so snippy and continue with our neurotic status checking.

CapeAir was great and only ~100 r/t to West Lebanon...was an adventure in and of itself on the 8 seater

Hell yes!!!! That plane ride was so fun. Did you fly into Boston?

I'm a current student here, let me know if you have any questions 🙂

Also, admission wise, the committee does not review by chronological order of when secondaries were completed. We also send IIs throughout the year and do not front load them and will invite up to early March.

Thank you for taking the time to answer questions in this thread, I have two.

1. Who are the adcoms?

2. Do they accept bribes?

Rejection email just now. 🙁

Rejection todayy... Deuces Dartmouth. complete late July

Does anyone have the schedule of the interview day here? I'm trying to find out if I can catch the last dartmouth coach (5 PM) on the day of my interview so I don't have to stay for 2 nights.

If you skip the optional tour at the end, you should be able to catch it

You can definitely make the 5pm coach! 5 or 6 of us on my interview day finished the short tour and had plenty of time to walk over to the bus stop. Interviews finish by 3:30pm at the latest, I believe, and our tour was only ~30 minutes.

Great, thank you so much! Now I just have to decide whether I want to take the train from Boston back home that runs from 9:30 to 4:30 AM...
