Hey, I never been to Nola and I am planning to stay a a few days there to check out the scene after my interview. I am wondering where should I stay and If I should rent a car and if there are plenty parking spots? I do not want to be dropping an extra $25 -40 on parking daily, kinda on a budget, but I don't mind spending the money on the car if it is worth it.

So this is a random question, but has anyone submitted and had their application verified early in June or July and hasn't received a secondary or a rejection??? I haven't heard anything since from Tulane and I'm wondering if I should call or just assume they silently rejected me??
Help would be much appreciated. Thank you and good luck to you all!!
Not necessarily, I had the green checkmark for a while before I heard anything.Hmm, marked complete 8/20 and had that red check by "in progress" until this morning. Now it's green!
Does that mean I should hear something soon? for better or worse!? lol

I've heard from adcoms here on SDN that the average of accepted is usually about double the matriculatedSoo they interview about 500 applicants, about 200 matriculate, but does anyone know how many they ACCEPT? (trying to determine acceptances chances after being selected for interview)
The lots by the med school are $4 per day. I've left my car there overnight several times and it's been fine. You'll have to walk a bit to the get to the Quarter, but I've also made that walk a lot and it's not that far. There are lots closer that are a bit more expensive, so it depends on your budget.
With the new hospital there, that's mostly gone by 7 am.There's "supposedly" free parking if you keep heading down Tulane Ave. past I-10 on the street across from St. Joseph Church but I haven't tried leaving it there overnight. It's a long 15min walk which adds up if you are commuting there but finding free parking in NOLA is like finding unicorns.
Ok thanks. I was starting to feel like I was the only one. It's interesting though because Tulane is one of the only schools I haven't received any word from... ? Let's hope we hear soon!Yep. Complete July 20th. No word yet. Just crossing my fingers and waking up each morning to see emails from not medical schools which has forced me to unsubscribe from basically everything LizzyM73

Real number is probably closer to 300-350 for Tulane. If you get to the interview, your chances of acceptance are great. Administration has been a bit more cautious about giving out acceptances after overloading a class, I think, but we still accept most of those we interview.really? 400/500 accepted? thats like 80% in out of interview.

Excellent suggestions for a carless visitor near the downtown campus. My only change would be instead of Acme, when you are in the French Quarter and in the mood for oysters, go across the street to Felix's. Same great product, but the line is shorter and you won't have to pay for the Acme marketing / advertising campaign.
That's a final number, so it would include the waitlistis that including waitlist movement or just the straight up acceptances after the interview?
any non food landmark suggestions to visit in NOLA as well?

If you're into nature then both Audubon and City Park are very nice, as is the lakefront. The Fly at Audubon around sunset is one of my favorite places in town. I'm not sure how long you're in NOLA so this may be moot, but kayaking Bayou St. John is a relaxing way to spend two hours.
It helps a lot when you lose hope. I was complete in early July and at this point I just assume I've been silently rejected.Ugh just wish I could hear some news ... I haven't been complete all that long either. Only since August 20th. I can't imagine what those complete in early July feel like! No II's so far, but at least no rejections either.
Also how far is too far to send "in the area" emails to other schools? Florida? Georgia?
nice. when are you interviewing?Received interview invite for Tulane! Very excited, seems like an incredible school and an incredible city. Is there an official Tulane Interview thread?
