2015-2016 Washington University in St. Louis Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I submitted on July 12th, and I just got an email stating that my application was complete...which reminded me that I completely forgot to send in my Dean's Certification Form. Does anyone know if they need to receive this form before they review my application for interviews or does it only matter after the interview process?

Required for final post-interview decision (accept/waitlist/reject), but not required to receive an interview invitation.

Hey guys, just wanted to drop in and say that I'm looking forward to meeting some of you at the pre-interview pizza parties and applicant breakfasts! Also open to PM's about what the first few weeks at WUSM have been like this year. Obviously @Amba is more equipped to discuss things in-depth but additional perspectives never hurt! 🙂

Will just throw out that I'm also available for questions, particularly about 3rd and 4th year if people have them. I'm a WUSM alum after doing the MA/MD and am now a first year resident in Ob/Gyn at Barnes-Jewish. Feel free to PM me. 🙂

Congratulations on graduating, matching, and surviving the first 2 months of residency 🙂

Does the 4-week deadline also apply to MSTP applications? I'm just now realizing that there's one listed in the application instructions. So dumb 🙁

Their MSTP office is super nice, just email them and ask 🙂

what is the 4-week deadline for? I haven't seen this in any instructions.

Any evidence that the deadline is soft? I had no idea this deadline existed and turned in my secondary 5-6 weeks after I got it.

My application status page says my MCAT scores (which I took in April) haven't been received, but my application is marked as complete. What gives? Should I call?

I returned after that deadline by a couple days and received a complete email...Honestly really annoyed that was not placed in the secondary email or directly on the secondary application.

I'm in the same boat, and it seems like a lot of people are having this problem. Best just to wait it out, I suppose

Called them this morning, and they said that if the note on the bottom says your complete, then you're complete! No need to worry about the "missing" MCAT

Anyone here have experience with "in the area" emails to WUSTL?
It appears I'll be interview at SLU in September or October and I'm wandering if it's advisable to let WUSTL know...

Btw, I'm not complete at WUSTL (secondary submitted 8/12) :-(

I wouldn't send that until you're complete.

Wow just got marked as complete/received the keywords email two days after submitting. Looks like they've picked up the pace a bit. Maybe just for MSTP applicants though.

i think MTSP is moving more quickly than MD. I know they have already sent out IIs to MTSP applicants.

Any particular reason why not?
Definitely just a personal opinion, but I don't think they would consider giving an interview anyway if you're not complete there? You don't need to have received a complete email to be complete though. So if you've turned in all the requirements then I would definitely say go for it.

Oh yeah, for sure. I turned in everything mid August.

Submitted secondary 7/27, requested Dean's certification from my school on 7/28. The certification had already been marked as received a few weeks ago, along with everything else except for a letter that was submitted to AMCAS on 7/3 (the letters submitted earlier were marked as received). Should I contact them about this? Seems odd that the certification that got there a month after was marked as received but not the letter. Getting antsy because the MSTP IIs are already rolling out...

EDIT: finally complete 9/4.

I called this morning and a very polite woman named Christine said that they're in late July as far as "completing" applications.

Finally marked as complete (didn't receive a complete email though). Secondary Submitted July 29th.

Thought I'd share the message I noticed on the homepage of the application portal as well: "Please note that we are experiencing an increased volume of applications this year and are behind in processing. We are working diligently to complete applications and ask for your patience. "

Curriculum
Traditional 2-year preclinical; P/F year 1, H/P/F year 2.

Wanted to point out that this is incorrect. Year 2 is graded Honors / High Pass / Pass / Fail. For comparison, see this JAMA article from 2013. WashU is in a group of 10.3% of schools that use P/F plus a variant (H/P/F or H/HP/P/F) for the preclerkship curriculum. 41.3% used P/F for all of the preclerkship curriculum. Among WashU's peer schools only, the sole school that does not have P/F for the entire preclerkship curriculum is Penn.

II today OMG OMG! Only available spots puts this as my FIRST interview.... Oh god that is a bit scary to have this big one as the first o.o

Wow, starting off the II season with a bang!

On the WustlApply website that they linked...under the "Visit" something link
As in they linked the application website in the email? If so I received no link. And also can't find anything on the app webpage by logging in like i Have in the past and browsing the site.

I received the II yesterday!

As far as dates to interview, the instructions in the email took me to a page where I could select form two dates that were both about two weeks from now.

Yeah also re: your last question, neither of the dates worked for me.
