2016-2017 Loma Linda University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Does anyone know if they offer need based aid and if so, how much?

Good luck to all interviewees today and tomorrow (if the "third Thursday/Friday of the month" statement rings true).

Anyone that interview in November get a decision yet? I assume they are suppose to come out today, given that it's the 3rd Thursday of December. I interviewed November 17th. I'm the random guy that spun the dean's laptop hahaha. Shoutout to my Nov. 17th interviewees.

What time are they supposed to call today?? Anyone hear anything yet??? 😵

Does anyone happen to know how long they call for tonight? And do they continue the calls tomorrow?

I wonder when or if I'm ever going to get an II....

This school runs a little later for non-SDA applicants. In fact, I know an alum who was SDA that interviewed in December, though this was >5 years ago. Patience!

I missed a cal tonight!!! I cannot believe it. I was at a graduation and didn't have service. I ran outside and stood in the rain caking back but it went to voicemail! :/ hopefully tomorrow!

Congrats. When did you interview? Are you SDA?

Does anyone know what the acceptance chances are if you interviewed in November but didn't hear back the first round (today, Dec 15)? Am I going to get rejected now....... Does this school offer a wait list?? How often does an SDA applicant get rejected (is this even possible)??

It's still very early in the cycle for decisions, so I wouldn't worry. This whole process seem to have a great deal of randomness/mystery, and I think we can easily drive ourselves crazy by trying to second-guess too much 🙁 You already did your part, so just try to relax - and most of all, don't panic 🙂 I'm sure you are a great candidate, and I really wish you the best.

Acceptance calls go out between Dec. and the end of the cycle. Most people get calls in January or February. I personally interviewed in Dec. and got accepted in January. Still a lot of time...

Called back this morning after missing the call last evening. ACCEPTED!!! Praise God for His goodness!!

I'm non-SDA and interviewed 12/8/16.

Good luck to everyone, I hope to see you in the Fall 🙂

I received the call yesterday at 6:37pm!

I turned in my AMCAS application on October 15th and received the secondary for Loma Linda on October 26th. I filled it out and turned it in the day before it was due (November 14th). I received an interview invite December 1st. Because I'm from out of state, the interview date was set to December 13th. I was interviewed by two doctors. So there were two one on one interviews (not sure if this is protocol or not). Yesterday, December 15th I was told by the dean that I have been accepted!

A little about myself: I am an active SDA church member, I am from Oregon, and I have gone to public high schools and public university (not the SDA schools). Feeling beyond blessed 🙂

Wow congrats. Incredible, you got an acceptance only 2 days after your interview?? Dang, what do you think set you a part from everyone else?

Interviewed 12/8 and got a call from Dr. Roddy telling me that I've been accepted! I missed her phone call last night, so she called me this morning.

I'm non-SDA Christian and in-state. I got the interview invite on 10/19 I believe

I honestly want to say that it was my ability to be myself. I didn't get the highest MCAT score (505) my GPA was ok but never straight A's (3.89). However, I did take 20-24 credits a term (when 12 credits is considered "full time" student). I believe this showed them I can handle a heavy course load. Another factor that was positive (or negative) was my age. I was able to finish undergrad in 3 years instead of 4.. so I'm currently 20 and getting ready to start next year. Some people (my pre led adviser) emphasized this was bad because they would think I was immature and not ready to be a doctor, but I made it a point to show my maturity through my interview.

I was beyond nervous for the interviews and barely prepared the night before, but I felt confident in what I have done to date. They mostly asked me about the stuff on my application and because I never exaggerated anything I was able to explain in detail and show my excitement.

Bottom line would be to know the ins and outs of your application and be confident when talking about it. Don't be scared. Even if all you've gotten to do is make patient beds, say that! The way you say things definitely has an effect. Saying "I had the opportunity to help nurses by making patient beds and cleaning rooms" sounds way different than "I don't have any medical certifications so all I could do was make beds and clean rooms". The first sounds a lot more optimistic and shows enthusiasm.

Best of luck to everyone!

Accepted! I missed Dr. Roddy's call last night and she called again this morning.

SDA, non-trad, LizzyM ~69. I submitted my secondary app 07/13, was invited to interview 08/29, interviewed 11/17.

I remember you! Haha that was awesome. Hope you get in 🙂

Does anyone know if there's still a chance of getting accepted at later dates if you interviewed on Nov 17th?

Yes, LLU has a rolling acceptance. They only send out rejections late in the cycle (March?), about the same time they send out the biomed offers.

Still praying for an II! Is there still a chance they will offer me one? I would really love to attend Loma Linda! LizzyM ~68, non-SDA, In-state, sGPA ~3.9.

I have a few questions. I was accepted into LLU last week and am so excited! I received my email to confirm my acceptance today. Can you hold multiple acceptances still until May 15th? Also, does LLU not have an admissions deposit or am I going crazy??

Anyone know what days of the week they interview?

II today. Interview 1/10. Happy new year. Hope this school will be my first acceptance...

"Story of the good Samaritan" email today. stop teasing me. 🙁

A bit excited at the moment. How long does it take for them to get back with rejections and acceptances?
