Well if one.iu is accurate then looks like I'm not getting in this month. This school's admission process is so mentally grueling

Longtime lurker but wanted to post for everyone's benefit, especially those anxious like me.
Just checked my application status on one.iu and..... ACCEPTED!!!! So for those wondering they HAVE met already for this month and will have letters out soon, probably.
I interviewed 10/4 in Indy. In-state with somewhat low undergrad GPA, higher graduate GPA (grad program through IU), and average MCAT. Feel free to PM if you want more specifics.
AHHH ME TOO! CONGRATS
Congrats!! Have either of your IUSM portals changed, or was it just the one.iu ones? My one.iu just tells me to refer to the IUSM portal, which still says under consideration. I'm trying to decide if it's time to panic or not haha :nailbiting:

It's time to panic, no luck this month 🙁

My one.iu is the only one that changed to the admitted status “ congratulations you have been admitted. You will receive a formal admission letter in the mail with instructions for your next steps “

My IUSM portal still says under consideration, only my one.iu changed to reflect an acceptance

Do you think that even though no official portals have changed and no letters have gone out that there's no hope for us this month? 🙁

According to this thread... I think the letters might be in the mail next week. In my case, my portal changed a week after my interview, so it takes time. I think the time to “panic” will be next weekend. Just because you’ll have to wait another month for a decision. In my case, I interviewed 1/3, so I’m expecting to hear back the week of 2/15 anyway. I think if you interviewed Sep-Dec, you might have a shot at hearing back next week. Once again, just my two cents!

Well from last year’s thread, for us IU students, one.iu was the tell all. There were no false positives or negatives from what I could see. The fact that one.iu has changed for a couple people means they’ve already made decisions for this month. Just gotta keep positive

Yeah a handful of us on here (including myself) are from the Sep/Oct interview crew, and I'm hoping that we hear back this month because there weren't any December interviews. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for good news this upcoming week!

What do you all think determines when they get back to you? Like @Aspiring4MD , I interviewed in January (10th) and I’m hoping I hear back in February as well.

so will we know our campus assignent before the April 30th deadline to commit to just one medical school
You will find out your campus assignment before the April 30th deadline. But IU varies on when they will tell you your campus assignment. Last year it was around April 27th.

Honestly who knows. I interviewed the first interview day- so like early September I think ? And just now got accepted.
Did you interview on September 6th? I interviewed the 13th and have yet to hear back, so I am encouraged to hear that there are still others in a similar situation as I am. Congratulations on your acceptance by the way!

I interviewed on September 13th and have unfortunately yet to hear back as well. I didn't have any luck this month (according to One.iu), but am hopeful for February. I'm in-state and my LizzyM is ~67-68.
Same, same, same, and same.

Anyone know of current students at regional campuses/ have their contact info--like an email address?? I really would love to talk to current students to get a vibe about regional campuses.

I’m also an undergrad at IU and have access to one.iu.edu. Where did you look to see your acceptance? I looked at the student center and the application status apps and each one just gives a link back to the IUSM application portal that everyone has access to.

The application status app is where it shows acceptance, but if it still refers you back to the IUSM portal then unfortunately I don't think it's happening for you this month. When you get accepted that message changes to a "congratulations" message.

The good news: You’re in the right place
The bad news: You haven’t been accepted yet

Here you go people. Looks likes this

What kinds of interview questions have you guys been asked other than the standard "Why medicine?" and "Why IU?" questions? or questions about things on your application. Also just curious what some of the more difficult or unexpected questions some of you may have gotten?

Can I speak with any current students at the Muncie campus ?

So I am a reapplicant. Last year I could check portal status.
This year it is completely blank, it does not say IUPUI, fall 2018, medicine or any of those things.. all box’s are complete blank, which they were not last year and it states “call admissions for status of my application”

Does anyone else have this?

I would also like to talk to any students at the Muncie or Evansville campuses, send a PM if you have some time! 🙂

Anyone know IU's policy on thank you notes? Should I send in a handwritten one, an email, or upload it to the portal? I interviewed last Wed.

I didn't send a thank you note and still got accepted. IU interviews so many people I doubt sending one will have any effect on your application.

Yes, before it changed to this, all of my boxes were completely blank and there was always something like "call admissions office for the status of your application" at the bottom.

Does anyone know where to find the address to mail in the legal disclosure form? I remember reading it needed to be mailed in, but I can't seem to find the address as to where? Just the Office of Admissions or what?

I received an email today from the AAMC requesting a background check, saying, "Dear conditionally accepted or waitlisted applicant: a background check from one or medical schools you have applied to has been requested." My friend who was accepted last month just received this a few days ago. I have yet to receive a letter, but am hopeful that this is a sign of a letter on the way. Does anyone else have any knowledge about accepted students receiving this email, or do all applicants receive it?

You only get it if you are accepted to a med school or waitlisted. I got one last week because I was accepted to a separate medical school already.., it’s a good sign !!!

When was your interview? Just asking to see how long after an interview/before an acceptance people receive this email

I received my first acceptance back in November and I got this email last week.

It's the annual AAMC Certiphi background check service that is sent out to all accepted/waitlisted (even if unbeknownst to the applicant) applicants at the start of each year.

If IU is the only school you've interviewed at and you got this email, it's a good sign that you weren't rejected. If you haven't been accepted and are still waiting to hear back from other schools for a post-II decision, it doesn't really tell you anything specific.

Mine was Oct 11. Received AAMC background prompt Jan 16.

My application was not complete for review after my interview. Was missing a doc.

Found a slide on AAMC regarding how schools do Criminal Background Checks.

My understanding is that upon acceptance they pay Certiphi/Vertical to perform the check.

The waitlist is usually not done till May. The prompt email from Certiphi states you’ve either been waitlisted or accepted but that’s a general email that goes out regardless of your acceptance or acceptance waitlist.

Correct me if am I am wrong.

Perhaps waitlist and alternate list are different? I’ve seen schools use them interchangeably or one usage favored over the other so I’m not sure if there’s a difference.

So if we didn’t get this email and IU is the only school we’ve interviewed at does that mean we have been rejected? Or that simply a decision has not been made on our application?

Hard to say what the decision status is, probably decision hasn't been made yet. I'm sorry wish I could give more insight.

I'd say that an official decision has yet to be made.

Has anyone gotten anything in the mail yet from this school this month? I'd assume it'd be this week...
