on hold today, complete on 7/31, under review on 9/21
Is a hold from this school a soft reject?
Just got put on hold today.
Hope it’s not a silent reject

I would not hold your breathe for it or bank on it. If it does that’s great but I personally don’t see a bunch of people dropping II
Put on hold.
Went under review on 9/23. Complete on 8/6
This is the first year they have done a pre-interview hold, so it is impossible to know what it means or what to expect.
Placed on hold as well yesterday.
Placed on hold yesterday after being under review for ~6 weeks
under review 9/18 and haven’t heard anything. Was the hold an email or a portal update
Got the fat R this morning. Good luck to everyone still in the running

Sorry to hear that. Mind me asking when you were complete?
Congrats on the other two II btw!
Complete 8/3ish and under review 9/07. Thanks! I'm super happy with the other two interview invites.
Hold today. God, that took forever. Submitted early July, I think I've been under review for a little over a month. Hoping that it's not a silent reject since their email says I'm actively under consideration, but not counting on it.
On hold. I like how they say "no news is good news". Ill take on those false hopes at this point
Placed on hold just now. Complete early August, under review 9/16.
There it is. put on hold. under review 9/18 OOS.
edit: basically email said “you’re in consideration until we stop interviewing” thanks :/
put on hold today, 10/10/2018. surprised I didn't just get a rejection. lol
Add me to the hold train. Went under review a couple weeks ago.
If this is, in fact, the first year they’ve done “hold for interview” I’d venture it may be in response to the new traffic rules. I could imagine the lower yield schools might be concerned with how their seats fill later in the cycle. Makes me think winter time update letters may carry some serious weight this cycle.
Put on hold. Under review 9/14. Bummer :/
Hey! We don’t really know what that means yet, so you never know
Hold today. Under review 9/26. Guess it's better than nothing?
I'm really curious to see how the hold status shakes out. I'm hopeful for all of you!
Anyone complete late Aug under review yet?
I was complete last week of August, went under review this week.
App submitted 8/20 and still not under review, yet others complete after me have been. Do they not go in order, if so then my question is... WTF?
Seconded. The holds seem really qualified and I doubt that all or 95%+ of them will get rejected.
I submitted day before you (8/19) and just went under review two days ago. I bet you'll be under review soon
On hold as well. Could be because I did not take the CASper test. Wondering if that makes a difference.
On hold, under review 9/13
Gonna start pre-writing that winter update letter
On hold as well. Do they even accept update?
They take digital uploads on the secondary portal
I also went under review on 9/23 but silence.... seemed to have been skipped over on this hold wave
My (totally uninformed) guess is that they'll fill cancelled interview slots with people on hold. Given how quickly Tulane's cycle moves, I'd expect they have a ton of cancellations later in the season from the most competitive applicants who get other offers.
Just some wild speculation from someone who's been on hold for over two months!
Havent checked the portal since submitting the secondary haha. Thanks!
They HAVE to get cancellations. Imagine getting into your top choice next week and having an interview at Tulane in the coming months. That's going to happen to a lot of their interview slots over the next few months.
True, anecdotally my friend recently cancelled her interview for Nov.
I regret doing an October interview when I had an invite back in July. Sigh. So this is a traditional interview with one patient encounter?
Yes, plus a student interview over lunch.
Lol this wouldn't be so bad if my application was actually either in the under-review stage or put on hold.
How much time do they allocate for the traditional interview? This is my last interview so gotta make it count lol
also did you find the SDN interview feedback useful? or not really?
I didn't read the SDN feedback, but the traditional interview was very informal. I spent about an hour with a member of the faculty. I really enjoyed the conversation. Also, it might be your last interview scheduled but I'm sure you'll get tons more!
How did you prepare for the interview (in case you did, lol)?
I'd recommend looking over your AMCAS application/secondary, thinking about why you want to go to med school (and Tulane in particular), and taking a deep breath and enjoying the day.
I like it. Thanks!
SDN interview feedback was useful. I would just look at your application again. They allocated 30 minutes per interview but I was the last one on my list so I got 45 minutes.
Finally got some news. Too bad it’s an R.
Complete mid-July, under review since 9/2.
3.36 with 1 year of 4.0 post-bacc
Strong clinical exp, decent research, well rounded ECs but very much emphasized a specific “identity” as an applicant.
No MD II as of yet. This app cycle sucks.
Hope for the best but prepare for the worst. Start preparing for re-application from now.
Hey, hang in there...I'm hoping you'll get some II's soon! Don't stress over it too much - you'll be fine!
Edit: PM me if you ever need someone to talk to!
