2018-2019 Tulane University

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
On hold as well. Could be because I did not take the CASper test. Wondering if that makes a difference.

On hold, under review 9/13

Gonna start pre-writing that winter update letter 😛

Seconded. The holds seem really qualified and I doubt that all or 95%+ of them will get rejected.

My (totally uninformed) guess is that they'll fill cancelled interview slots with people on hold. Given how quickly Tulane's cycle moves, I'd expect they have a ton of cancellations later in the season from the most competitive applicants who get other offers.

Just some wild speculation from someone who's been on hold for over two months!

They HAVE to get cancellations. Imagine getting into your top choice next week and having an interview at Tulane in the coming months. That's going to happen to a lot of their interview slots over the next few months.

True, anecdotally my friend recently cancelled her interview for Nov.

I regret doing an October interview when I had an invite back in July. Sigh. So this is a traditional interview with one patient encounter?

Lol this wouldn't be so bad if my application was actually either in the under-review stage or put on hold.

How much time do they allocate for the traditional interview? This is my last interview so gotta make it count lol
also did you find the SDN interview feedback useful? or not really?
I didn't read the SDN feedback, but the traditional interview was very informal. I spent about an hour with a member of the faculty. I really enjoyed the conversation. Also, it might be your last interview scheduled but I'm sure you'll get tons more!

How did you prepare for the interview (in case you did, lol)?

I'd recommend looking over your AMCAS application/secondary, thinking about why you want to go to med school (and Tulane in particular), and taking a deep breath and enjoying the day.

I like it. Thanks!

SDN interview feedback was useful. I would just look at your application again. They allocated 30 minutes per interview but I was the last one on my list so I got 45 minutes.

Finally got some news. Too bad it’s an R.
Complete mid-July, under review since 9/2.
OOS
3.36 with 1 year of 4.0 post-bacc
505, 519
Strong clinical exp, decent research, well rounded ECs but very much emphasized a specific “identity” as an applicant.

No MD II as of yet. This app cycle sucks. 🙁

Hope for the best but prepare for the worst. Start preparing for re-application from now.

Hey, hang in there...I'm hoping you'll get some II's soon! Don't stress over it too much - you'll be fine!

Edit: PM me if you ever need someone to talk to!

I still haven’t been placed on under review and I was complete 8/16. Is there something wrong? Should I ask them if I’m missing anything by giving them a call? I really would like to know what the issue is

I would wait at least 1 - 2 more weeks, still too early to ask for updates.

First R. OOS, LM ~70. Complete early September. Good Luck all!

So am I correct to think that most likely they'll send out their first round of post-I decisions monday? Or at least next week?

Yes, very nice email too.

Complwte early sept. Under review mid-late September probably, I'd have to double check

508, 3.9
It seems they favor MCAT

I was complete in early sept too! But I still haven’t been placed under review. are they not reviewing the apps choronically ? Hmm

Does anyone who has interviewed already still have the "Your interview has been scheduled" status?
