Are they still interviewing? I’ve been in the interview waitlist for a while now.... I really like this school.

On their website it says they interview people to the end of February. I’m guessing they’re no longer sending out any new interview invites

Any current students that would be willing to answer questions about living close to the medical school campus?

Acceptance range about an hour ago. Interviewed 12/7. Fourth waitlist of the cycle, was hoping to finally get an acceptace

Is downtown the best place to live? What’s rent like? Do you have roommates? Where do you study? Thank you!

- I mostly live here just cause it's convenient for school. I don't have to worry about driving and buying parking passes cause I can get from my room to class/lab/SP/wherever in like five minutes but uh maybe that's more of a reflection on me as a person
- If you live in pre-furnished student housing (Deming) which is connected to the hospital its about $1k/mo. The other apartment complexes in the downtown area that are pretty walkable to school are much nicer but a 1br/ba ranges from like $1.2k to $2k. at my place I pay $1399 before electricity and sewage.
- I live alone, and mostly study alone in my apt, but if I'm tryharding for an exam (i.e. rn hahahaha wait i have an exam in 12 hours wait) then I'll go to the library at school.

It might not be completely over yet. In all likelihood it probably is (I am assuming that they have all of the interview slots filled through the end of February already) but there is a chance that some people decline their IIs for February based on any recent acceptances, etc. I am still very much interested in the school and sent a few updates in the last few months to demonstrate that. Hoping for the best!

I wish you the best of luck man!

Anyone know when accepted students have to submit their vaccinations and immunizations?

Students living at Deming:

  • Is a security deposit required? About how much does it cost?
  • Do we have to pay first and last month's rent?
  • Could you comment on the privacy of the student housing? Is it set up like a dorm where there are multiple individual rooms on one floor?
  • Are the rooms already furnished with a bed?

Would you guys recommend sending a continued interest email if being put on hold in September? Does Tulane have any policy on this?

I have experience in Deming and I don't recommend it unless you get the full one-bedroom to yourself (not the studio!) OR you plan on spending minimal time in the building. My reasons for this are:
- the maintenance is subpar, the price of what you're paying for is not worth it
- the fire alarm goes off all the time and usually when you find most inconvenient
- there is no trash chute, so you must take the trash down the service elevator to the dumpster where you will encounter rats along with piles of trash since some tenants don't respect other's living space
- there is no real recycling system (gotta save the environment!)
- the beds are not comfortable
- the rooms are not sound proof so you can hear intimate stuff in the room next door

Again, it works for some people since it is incredibly convenient but it is not worth what you pay. It's a shame since Tulane is a great school and the location is so accessible that they could really utilize that area better and make a great complex for students.

Edit: sorry I didn't even answer any of your questions and instead proceeded to tell you about why maybe deming isn't the best choice lol

Also on hold but since November. I suppose it couldn't hurt, but I doubt at this point that the letter would be too helpful either. It's now February, and all the interviews have been scheduled for awhile now for their final month of interviews. I would recommend maybe redirecting the time and energy for other schools that might interview till March if you want to send an update/interest letter.

Thank you! I agree ...
