I feel you dude, every day I have to look at my bank account to stop myself from submitting to more schools...then again I've only got one II so far lol
Yeah. I prefer not to talk about my bank account at this point  :arghh:

LM 83 = no need to be concerned! If it makes y'all feel better I'm just starting secondaries, so still far away from any interview invites haha

Also received the upload photo/pre-req email on 7/17, did it that day, but no additional emails after that. Congrats to those with IIs!

Folks, what do we think? Flight leaving at 7am and arriving at BWI in Baltimore at 850 am, heading to straight to interview (Optional 10 am housing session if time allows) Interviews are at 11am. OR do a student host the night before (I dont really wanna sleep on someones couch and I know a few Hopkins people that graduated recently for that sweet sweet intel).

I would be worried about possible traffic especially considering it is already a 30 min drive. Now, saying that, your arrival would give you just about 2 hours. Assuming you arrive at 850, you will probably be on the street by 910, maybe 915 (assume 10 mins to get off plane, 10 mins to get out of the airport). Taxi from there to JHU - lets say one hour. I think you would be fine if these time allotments held true (which I was very liberal in terms of amounts).

So I say you are safe. That is IF there is no delay and IF you dont want the 10 am housing session....

True, not really worth the risk. Student Host it is, would be nicer to have a chill morning day of also

for those who got a II, how many characters did you write for the secondaries?

Am I missing something about the application? I submitted my primary 7/26 and received an email "inviting me to take the next step with my application" on the gateway. Is this the photo/prereq email people talk about? It also had all the essays on it, which I submitted. Just wondering because people talk about submitting a secondary and THEN getting a photo/prereq email but mine were all on that same portal...?

And how do you know if you're complete? Mine says "finished" on that portal (gateway)

Did anyone go super in depth about the which area of medicine question? I can sum up what I want to specialize in with a couple of sentences, and idk whether to expound on it.

YEA that’s the one we were getting a while back, and yeah, everything is in the same portal! As long as you fill out all the stuff they ask for, I’m pretty sure you’re gucci. I haven’t gotten a complete email yet, tho

did everybody get a complete email before a II or did anyone get a II without first getting a complete email?

Thank you!

Secondary submitted on 7/8
Photo/pre-req on 7/17
Complete on 7/29
II on 8/1

Good luck to everyone, hope this helps
congrats! when were your LOR's in?
also, what's the title of the "Complete" email (the one you get some time after uploading photo/pre-req's?)

thank you again and good luck!!

Could you tell us more about your app? I was complete on 7/16 and would like to know if they totally passed me over.

Title of Email: "JHU SOM Secondary Complete"

Good Luck

I got the photo/ pre req email that day and immediately filled it out. When I visit the secondary site now, it says everything is complete (uploaded, completed, finished), but I never got an email saying,
"JHU SOM Secondary Complete"

Sure, within moderation. What would you like to know?
Basic stats would be nice. You can give an approximate range if you would feel more comfortable. Also, do you have some unique connection to JHU SOM? Any reason they might have grabbed your app early?

I attached my applicant photo, but pressed the "I'm done uploading" button without thinking. What other documents did the portal request? May contact admissions if they requested other important documents
Just photo and confirming prereqs

HI everyone, for the "Briefly describe a situation where you had to overcome adversity..." do you think it has to be a specific incident or it could be a years long-life related adversity that is more general but still answers the question?

What do you think is a realistic range for the secondary prompts?
And no Im not writing 70-80%+ of the limit aka 8000 characters. God save my fingers.

I think it could be either. I went with the latter as they don’t have a question to talk about adversity anywhere else.

Just got my complete email too. I submitted the secondary on 7/9, did the photo upload and classes on 7/17, all my letters have been in since 7/10.

HI everyone,

In the adversity prompt, I already discussed my own life background and some obstacles I faced etc. I dont want to repeat myself in the Optional prompt (see way below) which suggests similar topics.

Instead, think it's okay to talk about why I would like to attend that school and incorporate also a little about my diversity aspect?
Please advise @HomeSkool, and anyone else

That prompt says:

The Admissions Committee values hearing about each candidate for admission, including what qualities the candidate might bring to the School of Medicine if admitted. If you feel there is information not already addressed in the application that will enable the Committee to know more about you and this has influenced your desire to be a physician, feel free to write a brief statement in the space below. You may address any subject you wish, such as being a first generation college student, or being a part of a minority group (whether because of your sexual orientation, religion, economic status, gender identity, ethnicity) or being the child of undocumented immigrants or being undocumented yourself,

Based on the prompt I don’t really think it’s worded for a why this school, but if you have a diverse aspect such as one of the examples they list then talk about that.

But I already mentioned it in my adversity prompt so I dont want to be redundant... unless they just really want me to expound upon it further....?

No, I think In this situation they want you to leave this prompt blank if you’ve already discussed what you were going to say. This doesn’t seem like the typical “anything else” prompt where you can throw in a why this school. It’s optional, so it’s not going to hurt you to leave it blank.
