HI alll
ON your secondary when selecting specialties, how did you decide?
I have 1 or two clear interests but Im not sure about selecting the third.
Would it be better to choose something totally different our of curiosity or better to choose something that you know you would have something in common with

When you submit, please let us know if you get a complete email almost instantaneously. Thanks!

Lol I shall. But are you waiting to submit yours for any particular reason? or you didnt get a complete email when you submitted yours?

I havent read thru the entirety of this thread so Im not sure what the complete email is regarding but Ill keep you all posted haha

Is your MCAT <508? If so, this adds to my theory of the autoemail = autoscreened.
My MCAT is much higher than that and I also received the autoemail so I don't think that's the cause

No, 511 so not crazy higher. I PM’ed someone who got an autoemail with a 521 and a 4.0, so either 1)This is all made up, 2) There’s a more complex algorithm that involves EC hours, or 3) I was getting trolled hard

Thanks for the response! Yeah, this is mostly for fun and laughs.

And yes, if this does happen to be true, the algorithm most certainly includes ECs, hours, etc. I was wondering about your MCAT because I suspect (IF this is true) that the algorithm screens by assigning point values. Ex: X points for certain MCAT, X points for number of hours of clinical, X points for level of research involvement, X points for using the word "underserved", etc. Which pile your app ends up depends on the sum.

EDIT: this IS all made up 😉

Considering my LM of 64 and no complete email I am desperately hoping this is theory holds lol 😀

Alright I havent followed whatever theory you guys are proposing here but for all of you (very) neurotic folk.
I just submitted a couple of minutes ago and NO complete email.
What, am I rejected now? haha
My LM is 70+

According to our thoroughly-tested theory, you haven't been screened out and have a shot at an interview.

When I get the R after not receiving a complete email I'm gonna explode

You've got it all backwards comrade, rest easy because if this thread has taught me anything its that you're guaranteed to get an II

No you will now receive an ii. My complete gang, this can no longer be some IT issue if people submitting now are not receiving emails. There has to be some meaning behind it.

haha, was not aware that you guys are also UPitt Adcom as well since you guys seem to be pretty certain
Im amused at the theory.. but has it been peer reviewed? haha

I picked PM&R, IR, and Path. I hope to have all three at my interview for the wild diversity.

Totally saying this in earnest when I say that your first sentence gave me a good laugh. It's been a long day. Thanks for the comedic relief sdn 🙂

my theory is that the school's server is glitchy or outdated and doesnt have the capacity to handle more than 1 application submission at a time or something

I think they ask this to try and pair you with faculty in one of those specialties for your interview if you get one

Hi

what is the question? Trying to pre-write and prepare due to very late verification.
There’s drop bars with medical specialties that you are potentially interested in. Takes a few seconds

Is Upitt's challenge essay asking for an example of a professional/work issue you dealt with or something more long-term/substantial and personal to show resilience?
either, whichever one you think will better show how you and your values align to their mission.

So I just wasted 30 minutes of my life, but now yall can stop with the whole "n=1" thing because now n=42

I made the doc open and editable by anyone so we can keep updating it

Notable stuff-
42 total people
28 did not receive complete emails- 13 have IIs
11 did receive complete emails immediately- no IIs
1 received a complete email way later (right before II)- so one II
2 received complete emails and did not specify when
