So how do we find out about our decision? Is it an email that tells us to check the portal for a status update? Or is the email the decision itself?

Decision is given in an email. They also send a physical letter, but the email will come first.
So what you're saying is that frantically refreshing the portal is pointless since the email will come simultaneously or even earlier anyway??
lol
Since it’s already 10 AM I don’t think it’s coming today. Usually the decisions come out in the morning. It’s already 10 am where is my morning dose of Pitt neuroticism?
I've just been trying to stay distracted with work and hobbies. My new strategy is to check only about 3-5 times a day around meal and sleep time. That way I am forcing myself not to be neurotic lol
I honestly have a feeling it’ll be today. All the wonky portal stuff has already happened (changes in status and people not being able to log in). I hope it’ll be today in the afternoon
Honestly I totally agree. Compared to the other top 20 threads, this one is so much more light-hearted and fun haha. I’m so down to meet up with you guys and we should definitely do it at Gauchos.Man y'all would be great classmates! I'm loving the memes and general humor displayed in the thread. I hope I can be classmates with some of you! For those of us who get in, we should try to organize meeting up at second look or something 🙂
Also for the record when I was casually skimming through past year threads I found a poster who had looked back and documented the notification days of the last 5 years and I just added the one for last year. So I'm not as neurotic as my posts may imply😛
Can someone put me out of my misery?
Don't worry dude. Pitt have a good track record of pulling people out of the WL- it's just a matter of time. If any of us are unfortunately get WL after the first round decision being released, we will start a support group to support each other!Man, I'm dreading being waitlisted. Pitt is my top choice and if I'm waitlisted the wait will never end ugh
Same here. I’ve been waitlisted everywhere else I’ve received a decision so far. At this point, I feel like if I didn’t get in anywhere else yet, there’s no way I get accepted in the first round of decisions at Pitt.Man, I'm dreading being waitlisted. Sending good vibes your way and hoping that you do get in on the first round! 🙂Same here. I’ve been waitlisted everywhere else I’ve received a decision so far. At this point, I feel like if I didn’t get in anywhere else yet, there’s no way I get accepted in the first round of decisions at Pitt.

Thanks! Best of luck to you too! I know we all want this so badly. It does make me feel better knowing that at least we don’t have to suffer through this week alone 🙂Sending good vibes your way and hoping that you do get in on the first round! 🙂
According to this spreadsheet with data collected from USNWR, its about 51% (vs ~48% for OOS), but I think that's overall acceptances, so who knows what the rate is for the first round of decisions.Anyone know what the IS acceptance is like vs OOS? I know matriculation proportion is probably more IS bc #PAPride, but what about post interview As
It's ~50% post-interview for both IS and OOS.Anyone know what the IS acceptance is like vs OOS? I know matriculation proportion is probably more IS bc #PAPride, but what about post interview As

For a woman like me to have? But we have it?Don't get my hopes up, man. Hope is a dangerous thing
Ok, I'll take your hopes down a notch. Those acceptance rates include those taken off the WL. So, that means the chance of a WL as an initial decision is >50%.Don't get my hopes up, man. Hope is a dangerous thing

So on my sheet at interview day. For last cycle they had 665 interviews offered and 315 interviews if I remember correctly. According to MSAR they took 65 people from the wait list. But also MSAR is still reporting data for the class of 2018, which had the over enrollment of 162 students, and that is over their targeted class of 149 students. So my back of napkin calculations are as follows:
2017-2018 Cycle: Numbers from US News Spreadsheet + MSAR
Overall acceptance rate ~ 50% (365/739),
Initial Acceptance rate ~40% (300/739)
2018-2019 Cycle: Numbers from Interview Day Paper
Overall acceptance rate ~47% (315/665)
Initial acceptance rate ~38% (250/665) *assumption of taking same amount of people from the wait list, which who actually knows. will have to wait till MSAR is updated again*
So long story short overall odds are about 1/2 getting in post interview with a little over 1/3 getting accepted initially.
Pack it up boys, we're done for the day.
may i remind you of

Cynthia Bonetti (Pitt's executive director of admissions) said they do try to release results a few days early
If tmmrw isn’t the day I’ll actually be kinda sad.
Me too, also I am sitting on 0 acceptances at this point and it will be a while before I hear back from my other interviews. My anxiety is through the roof.Yeah, I need some answer, any answer on this lmao. Definitely becoming obsessive about it this week lol. It's my top choice!

It feels like time is going by so slowly this week. I just want it to end!Yeah, I need some answer, any answer on this lmao. Definitely becoming obsessive about it this week lol. It's my top choice!

I mean, at least you already have the assurance of knowing you will be a doctor either way.Cept I would probably trade my acceptance for a Pitt acceptance haha, so I think we are all in the same boat in a way
Yeah. Don't think it's the same boat lol. But good luck any wayCept I would probably trade my acceptance for a Pitt acceptance haha, so I think we are all in the same boat in a way
Around half based on the age distribution on MSAR.Does anyone know what percent of the incoming class at Pitt is considered "non traditional" (1+ years out of college). I noticed a lot of interviewees at my session had already graduated college so just wondering if those numbers reflected their overall class.
