1000 characters - so it is not like you will be writing an essay. However, if you are choosing the option to be interested in MD if no MSTP, you might be wasting your shot at explaining what else you might do.Hi! In the question:
How will you take advantage of the Stanford Medicine Discovery Curriculum and scholarly concentration requirement to achieve your personal career goals? Please limit your answer to 1,000 characters including spaces.
Is it ok to talk about the MSTP as well, or should that be reserved for the MSTP application only?
Thanks for the quick feedback! 🙂🙂Good point..1000 characters - so it is not like you will be writing an essay. However, if you are choosing the option to be interested in MD if no MSTP, you might be wasting your shot at explaining what else you might do.
Does anyone know if "Describe any other aspect of your background you think would be relevant to the MSTP Admissions Committee decision"" is optional? I feel like I've already answered this with the MD-general question: "Please include anything else that will help us understand better how you may uniquely contribute to Stanford Medicine?"
Interviews haven't even begun to come out yet.still worth submitting or am i too late
Stanford doesn’t like updates *until* after you interview. When you interview they will be very clear on when they want updates and what kind of updates they consider significantHey guys - just to make sure, we can’t submit updates after we submit our applications right (like a new publication, etc.)?
still worth submitting or am i too late
For MSTP, the website says:
When can I expect to hear about the outcome of my application and/or interview?
Interview season is October – February; interview invitations will be issued 3 – 6 weeks before the scheduled interview date. MSTP admission decisions are made on a modified rolling basis.
Can anyone clarify what "modified rolling basis" means?
Thanks! So for MSTP they will make X initial offers all at once sometime in the Spring (where X is the number of open slots that year) and based on response they will initial other offers / waitlists at a later point.
submittals and poster presentations don't count as publications.does a poster presentation and a manuscript submitted for publication and now in review count as publications?
thank you! i can update about the publication when it goes through i presumesubmittals and poster presentations don't count as publications.
I could be wrong but Stanford does not accept updates unless you are interviewed.thank you! i can update about the publication when it goes through i presume
I don't know if any of us are qualified to give you an answer. Give them a call.Do you guys think they won't check my secondary if I indicated I was going to apply to Knight Hennessy and haven't submitted that application yet? I mean are they going to wait until I complete KH application?
Thanks for the feedback, I'll give them a call and see what they say. Thanks, again.I don't know if any of us are qualified to give you an answer. Give them a call.

Make a decision on whether or not you’ll apply to KH before you submit your secondary. What did they say?
because I am not sure if I want to apply. Should I check yes and have my app be in limbo (in case I dont do KH)?
Or check no?

The KHS people said that I could still apply and advised me to reach out to the School of Medicine so I could provide them with Application ID, but I decided to stick to what I originally indicated on my secondary application, and not apply to KHS and just remain under consideration for admission to the regular MD program. What did they say?

Make a decision and don’t change your mind. But if I change my mind do you think that will make things extremely complicated?

You're welcome! Yeah, it doesn't seem to be. I'm already going against the odds by applying to Stanford with my stats, so I didn't want to make things more complicated with my application by changing what I said on my secondary. Good luck!Ah okay! That was extremely helpful actually! So it seems that it's not a total nail in the coffin.
Thanks MAJ

Almost certainly. I’ve already had to do this for multiple schools.are they open to asking for different dates?!
I’d still try either emailing or calling and asking. From the portal: “To schedule the interview date, click on an available open date below. Other dates are not available.”
