UCRSOM accepts application updates, right? Starting to think about sending those updates... dat II...

Hey guys, I spoke with someone from admissions right now and was told that it is possible that applicants, who were complete later than you, can have their application reviewed prior to yours. It doesn't necessarily mean you were looked at and then put into a pile to have a rejection sent later, rather there are tools they use to screen certain applications before others.

P.S. My neuroticism pushed me to call since I was complete 8/7 and there were people getting interviews with completion dates of 8/21. I was told my app hasn't even been looked at yet. So there's still some hope!

Thank you for calling! I was getting worried as well.

Thanks so much! Just curious, do you have a green check next to “app is ready for review” under the status tab in your portal?

Of course! And yes, I do. So I actually submitted my secondary with all my materials on 8/7 but got an email on 8/21 saying I was complete... So I double-checked with the office and my official complete date is, in fact, 8/7. Guess it was a glitch in the system

Complete 8/5 and heard nothing. I’m thinking it’s not looking good. Harder Applicant

Hope you hear back soon! On the bright side, I think later interviews and complete dates matter less for us (Haider applicants) because the first Haider committee meeting isn't until December anyways. When I interviewed, they said that it's likely that we won't start hearing back until January of next year.

SoCal/Inland Empire resident, LizzyM 68, complete 8/7 and haven't heard anything 🙁

Anyone hear back on a decision yet? I know they've interviewed a couple groups already.

Hi folks!

I'm currently an MS1 at UCR. Please let me know if you have any questions about the program and I'd be happy to answer as best I can.

Good luck!

Hi ! Do you know if UCr screens before sending a secondary ? I just received one 10/16. Also I have no ties to IE. do they only accept people that do?

Hi! Yes, UCR does use an auto-screen before sending secondary applications. Plenty of my classmates are from California but have no ties to the Inland Empire, so don't let that deter you.

Hey! I was wondering what kind of research UCR students engage in. Is it mostly quality improvement projects, or do some go and do clinical/biomedical research?

All UCR medical students will have a quality improvement project that they will work on during their first three years. For these projects you will work closely with your LACE (longitudinal ambulatory care experience) preceptor. Every year, you will present your project at a conference at UCR. Here is a link with some of the projects students are currently working on: 2019 Conference on Teaching, Learning, & Discovery and the Women in Medicine Forum Schedule

Outside of that, you are free to start your own project if think you can balance it with the rest of your school work. We have a really great research director who can help you find faculty to work with if you'd like. However, I think most of the students from the year above me chose to begin research projects during the Summer between MS1/MS2. Hope this helps!

Graduated here and still no secondary yet. Weird that I got one last year rather quickly and nothing this year with a much stronger app and MCAT score.

Hi, does anyone know if UCR has a two week deadline for their secondary? I don't know why I read the deadline as 30 days when I first got the UCR secondary email but now that I am checking it again, it says "we ask that you complete your secondary application within two weeks". Does that mean I cannot submit my secondary anymore? Did anyone submit after the two week deadline/recommendation?

loool. Received secondary on 10/26. Is there a point to shooting my shot at this point?
