"Please list any major paid work experience during or since college."
So we should only list employment that is MME caliber?

Nah bro, same. LizzyM > 75, IS, but no secondary I have a minor IA......hopefully it doesn't get us auto-rejected
We be waitingno secondary here, IA too (inconsequential), good stats.
For the most scholarly project, is it okay to talk about a thesis proposal you had for a course in college. I work in a lab but have not gotten my own project
Hmm, I think we are both right, because Graduate Medical Education is residency...so post-graduate would be after that lol. Regardless, I think the question is getting at what do you see doing in your career. (For reference, it changed from last year, which was "where do you see yourself in 10 years").
Anyone still not received a 2º?? I am IS verified early but I do have an IA.

I am intending on emailing them the first week of August. My IA was a cat in University housing...so, like if they wanna autoscreen IAs then sure that is their prerogative...but like....yeah.Ah, my people. I will be sad if they just auto-screened us
And if that is the case they should list it on their website so that people don’t waste their money.I am intending on emailing them the first week of August. My IA was a cat in University housing...so, like if they wanna autoscreen IAs then sure that is their prerogative...but like....yeah.
Eeyup. And I TOTALLY understand if they do autoscreen - they get like 13,000 applications and they very much would like to only process the ones they have to. But they should let it be known. And if that is the case they should list it on their website so that people don’t waste their money.
Thoughts?
What is the deal with the financial questions? Isn't that not really their business...ie shouldn't factor into admissions? How are y'all answering?
Are you high stats?Still no secondary, OOS, verified very early, and no IA 🙁 Starting to assume I won't get one, but still confused as to why, bc it seems like I'm the only one without an IA waiting
Are you the child of someone the dean has a beef with...? What the what?Yessiree, 4.0 and 525
Weren't you accepted with Geffen last year?ops I thought it meant post-college-undergraduate and wrote about my gap year activity lol
I dunno dude I must have talked about kicking puppies in my personal statement and forgot
yeah! I meant that's what I wrote during the last cycle haha. GOOD LUCK to you this cycle around! I check this thread periodically just to see if I can provide any insights.Weren't you accepted with Geffen last year?

Thanks @Laix! Fingers crossed for another early II here, and a better outcome! Hope you have a great start!
Did you get an early interview here last cycle?
Does UCLA require biochem? Competencies - David Geffen School of Medicine - Los Angeles, CA
Do the make you check a box if you feel competent in this area? Or do they actually require a course. It's mentioned under chemistry, so I'm assuming you do need competency in biochemistry

No secondary yet! I just called them and they said "we have no control over who gets the secondary. It is a rolling process". My primary was verified around 06/27, FYI. Ridiculous.
what's an ia ?no secondary here, IA too (inconsequential), good stats.
I have the same issue too. Other schools got my letters. The portal is probably broken.I have a green check next to LOR on my status page, but when I click on the "document status" tb on the left, it shows no LORs listed. Does everyone have this? Or are they actually missing?
I don’t think the box is placed there for them to judge and look at the people that fill it out as desperate. It’s meant for them to get a better understanding of your circumstances. I marked disadvantaged on the primary, am a FAP recipient and filled out the disadvantaged box for their secondary as well.So I finished the application without checking disadvantaged box (Primary) and am thinking of checking no to the "hardship" question. I thought it would be redundant because my primary essay, FAP, S02 status, and activity sections (significant explanation essay) were enough to show that I had overcome plenty of struggles. I thought the school might look at it thinking "this kid is so desperate of appealing himself as disadvantaged." Any thoughts of whether I should fill that question out?

Has anyone mined last year’s thread to see if people below those supposed stat cutoffs were offered interviews? Wondering if screening for stats is pre-interview instead of pre-secondary.
The cutoffs (3.4/512) were supposed to be a new policy implemented for this application cycle.
It's impossible to say right now whether they'll screen people out pre-interview for these cutoffs but people below these cutoffs have been receiving secondaries.
I don't know whether the proposed cutoff even went into effect, as there is no info about it on the UCLA website and, as I said, people below the cutoff have been getting secondaries.
Current student at geffen . That’s not true, those values were for the last cycle. This cycle things are different but nobody besides the adcom knows any details about cut offs or screening processes.
Thanks for the correction. The daily bruin article was not very clear: David Geffen School of Medicine raises admission standards, incites controversy
1. "The medical school is raising admission standards for next year’s applicants."
2. "Attendees formulated a policy proposal in opposition to the changes, which will affect the entering class of 2019." (and the linked policy proposal also says "entering class of 2019")
But yikes, those values were for last cycle (aka entering class of 2019)? I'm actually an incoming Geffen student so that means my entire class will be 3.4/512+'s? 😳
Do you know if/when students with an IA will be reviewed to receive a secondary? I received a very inconsequential IA (cat in university housing...) and I am wondering if I should reach out.Yep, for better or worse your class will be that. I’m not sure if towards the end of the cycle they adjusted their screening process. However, for this current active cycle nobody knows the cut offs. So, if you received a secondary, fill it out to the best of your ability and just hang tight.
Also, that daily bruin article is very confusing and its a shame that an article was written in the first place.

Right on, thank you! I will reach out tomorrow to ask. Sorry to bother and thanks for your help.No clue, like I said earlier nobody knows anything. No point in guessing.
