2019-2020 Washington University in St. Louis

Would you happen to know roughly how many md spots are left and if early interviewees are still being considered
I don’t know how many spots, but I’d say yes people are still being accepted, regardless of interview date. The majority of acceptances will come out in the next two months. Seems like there haven’t been many so far... Anyone else have any thoughts? It’s been pretty quiet here compared to other years.

I agree, how?
Stats are not everything. Could be the reviewers didn't feel moved by the essays. Could be a rec letter that suggested a red flag. Could be anything. Humans are not numbers. Numbers don't predict quality of a physicans and adcoms probably know that! Hoping the OP finds a great fit for him/her!

Yes but still with a 3.9 and 100% MCAT score, numbers MUST be everything! or at least enough to get a II

Considering WashU interviews over 1000 students, the rest of the application must have raised some sort of flag.

I’d also add that last cycle got really screwed up due to all the changes with the process and them cutting the class size, so WashU may have given higher priority to reapplicants from last cycle this year? Complete speculation...

Eh, that might be a bit harsh. Schools like WashU aren't just looking at high stat applicants to fill their class. I'm sure there were plenty of applicants with high stats that didn't receive an II from WashU but may have at other T20s. The cycle is random and unpredictable; sometimes it's best to just not over-analyze minute details or anecdotes.

Even with the adcom meeting today, January interviewers like me probably won't hear for a while. They seem to be moving chronologically

Friend who interviewed in October got in today at 6pm eastern time. Interviewer called her and told her that they just got out of “the meeting” 10 min ago and he wanted to share the news tonight instead of tomorrow. So ..... tomorrow? Might be? A big day? o0o0

I've pretty much resigned myself to waiting until mid-March...but hope springs eternal!

And yet they're not......

Schools repeatedly say they do a holistic review -- do you not believe them? Adcoms here repeatedly say while stats are the most important thing, they are not the only thing, and an application has to be well rounded to be competitive -- do you not believe them?

@claywalker20 is basically saying ECs were deficient -- assuming that's true, why is it so hard to believe that the top schools in the country didn't offer an II to someone with great stats and deficient ECs when they have so many applications from candidates with great stats and great (or at least decent) ECs?

The good news is, based on the way @claywalker20 talked about med school, is that it looks like he did get in somewhere. At least I hope that's the case.

Rejected yesterday. Thanks for nothing, WashU. So much for all the bs hype I was fed for 4 years about them “taking care” of their own.

Sorry to hear that man. I thought washU would interview a lot if not most of their undergrads. We’re you competitive to start with (atleast enough for an interview from your alma mater?). Keep your head up high there are other great places in sure you got into or already or will get into!

Do we know if earlier interviews (nov) could hear back anytime now? I don’t remember them saying anything specific

I thought winter interviewees were told we wouldn’t hear back until mid-Feb..
I think later in feb early in March is more likely, but I was just saying that there was a committee meeting yesterday so I think people got excited about maybe hearing today.

Hi all, in case it’s helpful or anyone wanted to know, I just received the call. I will likely be attending elsewhere save for a really crazy scholarship, but I need to figure out when they come out with scholarship awards first.

In the case that I do end up withdrawing, I really hope that someone who really loves WashU gets in!!! It’s a great school and I’m sure many of you would do awesome there!

(Also, I interviewed on 9/13/19 for those wondering.)

Also, I have yet to receive the email you guys are talking about so probably no need to start another conspiracy like what happened with the Duke MMI essay prompt?...
