Complete 8/21, placed on hold as of this afternoon. I knew there was an app update because it took my log-in about 10 seconds more than usual to load the page.

Honestly whatever its fine I actually don't care that the school I am currently paying tuition to clearly refuses to look at my application. I am totally cool and fine.

I wouldn't take it personally. I'm sure there's different people who have to review different apps, which is why the timeline differs.

Yes but that disagrees with our theory that there were two interviewers and one was super slow. I really liked that theory and it made sense. Adding in this monkey wrench of "other interviewers" is just too much to handle.

Yes this is sarcasm. I am just losing my marbles.

I kind of think that maybe they are still deciding for those of us that have not heard? Like we aren’t liked enough to be in the first batch but not put on hold yet?

Also terrible theory. I am highly likable and fun. Or you hate me immediately. There's no middle, I'm a Gemini. Something fishy is clearly up.

Again, kidding. I'm very impatient.

My status just changed to under review 😵. Super nervous now I will be checking my app nonstop

whats people's opinion on having an interview through the phone? My GWU interview was through a webex invite as they said, but the physician ended up joining the meeting on his phone instead and was not face to face. It was a very generic interview, with little conversation, almost like rapid fire questions, and I don't know if this will hurt my chances. It's kinda tough to gauge and connect with an interviewer when I couldnt see him

This doesn't answer your full question, but my interview was also rapid fire (a LOT of questions) with no conversation in between.

Ok great! That makes me feel better, because i've been seeing posts about how there was conversation and laughter between them and their interviewer and I was getting nervous

A close friend of mine also interviewed here and said that it was much more question and answer - I think it may just be an adjustment for a lot of these interviewers who may not be as comfortable with technology! I would not say that your experience is going to be that unusual for this cycle.

I don't think they're really supposed to converse or comment between questions. We chatted at the end because we had a really specific common interest (faculty and me) but otherwise they were mostly just writing and occasionally smiling (which you obviously wouldn't have seen). It isn't any kind of commentary on your performance.

Is being out on hold now mean that it’ll take around a month to be reconsidered again? I’m a little annoyed I thought I was a shoe in with their missions statement and vision
From last year’s thread, someone said that it’s likely that they have some sort of ranking system for holds. So if you are ranked highly, it’s more likely that they will pull you out from hold. Not sure how true this is but it seems likely since IIs were given randomly to ppl who were previously on hold

Yeah for sure, or or or they could just skip you completely, give IIs to people completed almost 2 weeks after you, and leave you to float in the abyss while living within walking distance of the campus.

There's an abyss within walking distance of campus? My, that sounds dangerous! 😱

mine was also decently rapid fire! i was asked 7-10 questions i'd say. there were some technical problems too which lead to us having to leave, have cameras off at some points, but the interviewer just laughed it off. I'd guess you're probably overthinking it and did great, your interviewer was probably just in a weird mindset being over the phone as he's used to in person interviews too.

Not sure when my status went from complete to under review, but there's that.

I forgot to ask this during my interview, but does anyone know when admissions decisions are usually released?

Last cycle they released acceptances October 15 (the soonest non-ED MD programs can). I'm not sure which interview dates will have decisions out that day, but I'd certainly guess the early ones. If you already interviewed, I'd imagine you'd hear back by November?

Great, thanks for letting me know!

Just wondering, I've been doing some research on COL in DC, and it seems like living in DC will be way more expensive than I expected.. 😳 plus GW gives out about 1.3k for rent for only 10 months? How do medical students at GW who do not have any other financial resources other than loan survive here?

I don't know but it's definitely expensive and if you're a late studier, you either need to live close to campus or be okay with Uber because the Metro stops at like, 11/12. Himmelfarb is open 24/7. DC is gorgeous but definitely competes with LA/NYC for most expensive city to live in.

oh wow I didn't know trains stopped running that early in DC. hmmmmmm

So I am hoping to get some advice.
I've been complete since the end of July (haven't yet been put on hold) and I am wondering if I should send an update. I mentioned in my application that I was applying to a competitive program focused on health disparities and was recently just accepted into said program. I know that George Washington is more receptive to updates than most schools but with the program just starting and it only being October I wasn't sure if it was appropriate to mention.

I would probably wait until you have some experience in the program you can talk about and then send an update
