2020-2021 Stanford

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I’m not even an applicant here but I’m drawn to drama, can anyone give me a TLDR lol

TLDR is the people invited to a zoom call are ghosting the thread suddenly and some guy got chastised for crapping on people who consider things beyond name recognition when considering their medical school priorities.

Seriously what about December interviews though are we safe for now?
that’s what i’m thinking too, it didn’t look like anyone from december or later got an email to the zoom but u can never really know. all i know is stanford has on there website there are 3 separate release dates for acceptances form jan-mar

idk, but seems hard to think otherwise when people who were neurotically posting with us are now completely silent lol.
true, even if it was a waitlist i feel like at least a couple would have said something. also could have something to do with the NDA we signed for interviews why no ones saying anything?

The calls in years prior weren’t hushed... perhaps they’re still calling. I assume there’s more waitlists than accepts. And it’d be kind to have a wait list support group (a lil boomer though). I think that was the Case rationale, and I think they’re a part of AAMC directives in how-to-do-admissions-in-Covid.

Perhaps there may be still be calls tonight or this week. Can’t take that long since they’ve done it before.

But why...?
They probably don't want to ruin the excitement if people know zoom link email = A

The dean "loved making calls" in prior years probably to experience the excitement in the moment. This year, they probably doing Zoom to see real time video/audio excitement in the moment, and don't want you to know beforehand.

Maybe I'm weird but unless it was a 1 on 1 zoom I'd feel really weird reacting to that kind of news in front of a bunch of people lol

lol you guys are crazy if you don’t think someone in a zoom call would have spilled the beans already. No chance every person in this threads could hold info from such a meeting in
Excuse my poor grammar lol, wrote that message between some miniprep spins (see Stanford , look how dedicated I am to research)

fyi, was rejected pre-II awhile ago so Idk why I still have watch on for this thread 😂

It wasn't hushed lol. They said we could post on social media too. It blows my mind you guys think they'd rescind an offer for this lmao.
A very kind, sensitive response to a thread of people nervous about their medical school future during a year of pandemic

Edit: stop deleting your posts, if you want to flex on all of us and make us feel terrible then at least have the backbone to stand by your words.

Somehow I don’t think someone like HelloKittens is capable of getting into Stanford...

anyways, someone early on posted that last Friday interviewees would be hearing back “by the end of the month”. These zoom invites came out Monday. I doubt they worked over weekend.

I'm not flexing on anyone, nor have I tried to make you feel terrible. I guess it's a sin to celebrate lol. It's also a sin to acknowledge prestige of an institution helps you in your career too I guess. If constantly crapping on me gives you catharsis, go for it.

Dude, it's fine to celebrate. An A from Stanford is a huge accomplishment, congrats. But the fact that this entire thread is pretty sick of your responses should tell you something.

Edit: for me it was the 'it blows my mind comment.' If you meant it in a different way, my bad. But it came off as super tone deaf and dismissive of us all stressing about what this means for our medical careers.

The way you said it gave a different vibe. Anyway, you got a big A so enjoy it and if you want to talk about prestige create a separate thread.

Sorry. I was trying to ease you guys, looks like it had the opposite effect.

Hi guys, I was wondering if I’m in a good place stat wise to apply to Stanford next cycle. I have a 4.0 GPA, 515 MCAT, and 5 publications (3 first author), I’m also URM. I’m just a little worried that the MCAT is on the lower side and I’m not sure how much that can hurt me?
you are a very strong applicant imo. assuming everything else about your app is in tip-top condition don't worry about your mcat

I replied to you in your WAMC thread before. You are gold in golden state. Spend time on PS 🙂
