Apparently, students who do not automatically receive a secondary after submitting primary are reviewed by the admissions committee and deemed whether they should be given a secondary or not
Correct me if I’m wrong
I was verified in August, but my mcat score was pending october 13th. I received secondary october 16. Do you think it was reviewed by adcoms?

I was in similar situation as you. Submitted August but didn't receive secondary until mcat came back early October.

yeah so idk if secondary was automatic once mcat score sent or someone reviewed and made secondary decision

But either way I can't imagine someone who doesn't have tie to the IE or from California applying to UCR since they have interviewed or accepted zero OOS applicant so I assume this as UCR not having a screen lol as they send secondary to all applicants from California. I hope that logic make sense haha

people say they screen and someone reviews and make secondary decisions so idk about what you said

thus no state screen and actually "selects" and not screens

I mean based on MSAR data if you're not from California or tie to the IE its pretty much waste of money applying here.

Secondary received this morning. OOS with ties to California. I submitted AMCAS back in June but just heard from UCR now

sadly having that issue where i don't see any interview slots available on the calendar :/ lol

verified 8/10, secondary submitted 10/19

Congrats to your II!

Random question for the folks around here: If you're secondary submission date has past (mine was in late September...with the above person in mid October), does that mean you're pretty much out of the running?

It is pretty interesting though that the school is still handing out secondaries around now.

Nah, schools review completed applications in different orders. Some apps may be placed at the top of the pile due to certain factors (URM, high stats, school alumni, etc) so even when someone has a submission date past yours, it doesn't necessarily mean you're out of the running. There's been cases where people submit in July and they get an interview in January.

Pretty sure COVID hit UCR hard and they're quite delayed compared to other schools.

Hey guys,

I submitted my application on 11/1, verified on 11/4, got secondary on the same day and submitted 11/11.
Since UCR selects applicants and Covid slowed everything down, are my chances are still pretty decent right now?

Okay...so there is still hope.

That's nice. I know my numbers aren't fantastic - I just live in the area and have worked in the area for some time, so I'll love to continue serving in this community for my medical career 🙂

Secondary received today, OOS, strong? ties to IE (went to college in the area, involved in community). Majorly confused.

For those of you that have already interviewed, do you have any insight to share regarding the MMI ? Any advice is greatly appreciated 🙂

Hey! I was pretty anxious about it, but it ended up being a relatively low stress experience. To prepare, I just did some practice with widely-available online MMI scenarios with a friend. I felt that this strategy worked very well for me. The best advice I can give is to practice and then just be confident in the way you present your thoughts and reasoning. You got this!

I got my secondary invite at the end of September and because of COVID issues I wasn't able to turn it in until a little over a week ago. Do you all think I just donated money at that point? I'm not expecting much because I've been really behind this cycle 🙁

Damn. I realized I might've screwed myself on my secondary. I still need a smidgen of math requirement (the two classes I took were quarter-based) and I mentioned that deficit on the optional essay.

I hope that didn't kick me out of the running prematurely. I'm sure they're looking for any little opportunity to axe people out of the interview process.

Also just received a secondary. Does anyone know how thoroughly UCR screens for secondaries? Kinda surprised I got one as I'm not from the IE

SoCal, but not IE. I got my secondary just days after I submitted my primary on the 11/1 due date. Their selection process is a mystery.

It looks like roughly half of applications receive secondaries. Google “ucr legreports 2019” and you can see the official ucop report doc and numbers. This document is public, so there is for sure a screen to get a secondary

Oh! That is interesting! I wonder what they’re looking for with the screen though...

Are they focused on just regions, academics or a mix of both?

Radio silence for me too but complete 11/2 so oof. Is UCR still running super far behind? Has anyone gotten an II recently?
