Has anyone received an II recently? 🙁 do you guys think it’s too late in the cycle to get an invite?

Not sure how this cycle is affected by COVID, but I would say no! I applied even later last cycle and was fortunate to get an interview here. Hopefully the same will happen this year!

Slightly obsessing over every small detail, What can yall see on your application portal? I literally don't see anything except that I submitted my payment and completed my Confidentiality agreement. Nothing about my current status

That’s all you’ll see until a decision is made, even after that the status will still be “submitted” but more forms will pop up

Interviewed 9/21 and haven’t heard back, so don’t worry too much! So nerve wracking though, I completely relate

I'm the person who said I was scurred about the 10/08 person hearing back when I interviewed on the same day. I still feel like that, and I get that you do too, but in reality, I think the review process is not linear and there are no set timetables for different reviewers.

I bet there are all kinds of random factors delaying and speeding up certain apps. Some of them are actually relevant things like scores, but some of them might be that your physician interviewer has a busy call schedule for 3 weeks after your interview day and they can't meet with the adcom committee to discuss you app until then.

I'm trying not to stress too much. You never know what's going on with your app, so just gotta wait. **** the system though haha

Just interviewed this week. I feel good about all the live stuff, but the AAMC VITA format threw me off and I am worried I came across as panicked. Can anyone comment on the relative weights of the interviews when it comes to an admissions decision?

they did not tell us this information, but i'm sure the in-person interview is weighted much more heavily. i was also super thrown off by VITA - looking around all over the place (first at my camera then at the little picture of me in the corner, it was a mess), giving some stupid ass answers and...i was accepted. i wouldn't worry too much. nothing you can do to change it so just know that you did everything you could and there is nothing left for you to do!

That makes me feel a lot better. Thank you so much! 🙂

do you think you can comment on ways you calmed yourself before the live interview? It would be really helpful to hear from someone who has been accepted 🙂

I was accepted and I would say just to remind yourself you're just there to be yourself and have a conversation! Simplifying it down to that really helped me not get nervous

i agree! it really is just a conversation and they just want to get to know you better. I told myself that the one-on-one interview is only 30-45 min so i dont need to be super focused for long. The group interview is even more chill because you're really just talking amongst your peers. so if you think about it, you really only need to be focused for about 30-45 min, and even then, it's a super casual conversation between you and a MS4 or faculty member. out of the 4 (?) hour long interview day, you only need to be talk for about 1.5 - 2 hours (individual + group interiew), you're just chilling for the rest of it! also, don't feel like you have to constantly smile and ask a lot of questions during the orientation and Q+A session, i did neither of those things

Are the group interviews like mmi style?

Someone asked this question during my interview day and they stated the VITA was supplemental to your in person interview.

How did you guys prepare for health policy interview questions? Im not sure how big UNC is on those

Copped an II on Friday night. Super pumped to interview here. 🙂
I know there have been quite a few acceptances here. My question is...how long did you have to wait after your interview to find out? Or have some of you interviewed and heard nothing?

I got asked “what healthcare environment you’ve worked in would you change, assuming you had the resources, what would you do, and why?” I would recommend just reflecting on your healthcare experiences and thinking about how patient care could be improved within each of them. Additionally, I would familiarise yourself with the healthcare needs of North Carolina. It’s a state with lots of unique needs and mentioning them would definitely benefit you.
