Also I don't get the AC email. Does it mean that they ALREADY reviewed my app but didn't make a decision? So I am deferred to next meeting??

I am an applicant to UMass this cycle that interviewed last cycle in October and was played on AC. Obviously things change, but last year most people who were placed on AC including myself got an answer back very close to the end of the cycle in April, where we either received our As, Rs, or in my case WL.

All that's to say I'm back at it again this year applying to my dream school, still holding out hope for another II as I remember there was still a little bit of action around this time last year.

Y’all are saying AC….Is that Active consideration?
Yes, AC means active consideration. Looking at threads from years prior and from current students, it seems like a vast majority of people get this email. On my interview day, we were told that it was just to let us know that we were still being considered - nothing more, nothing less.

That’s right I recall this. Yeah, seems like most people have them. I take this to mean they are just making some decisions. Killer

Do most AC applicants really get an answer back at the end of the cycle???? I wish they could just give some sort of answer earlier.

I’ve never heard of a school ghosting post interview. I would guess they provide a decision by the end of the cycle, but I’m with you on wishing it was earlier

For anyone who has interviewed already, could you please speak about the scheduling times? Were you able to pick morning times like 10 AM to 12 PM EST?

Sending a pre-II update letter simply hoping my state school will show me some love like...

To add a bit more: looking at last year's thread, a lot of people have gotten active consideration and heard nothing until march/april/may where they got a waitlist and/or rejection
Calling all neurotic people from the UCLA thread to come over here and manually count all AC—>Decisions from the last three years. Need data, plz

To be honest, I would but... I under the impression that the data is just so biased and skewed here, it's not worthwhile

Over in the md/PhD threads we are actually finding that the data, while biased, is consistent year-on-year. You can actually quantify the SDN data and use it to estimate the real data if you have past years real data. We don’t in this case, but still lol

Speaking of statistics, has anyone noticed the Class of 2025 profile being heavily skewed towards females? According to the UMMS website, there are 55 males and 111 females. I'm curious to know if this is reflected in their application stats as well. Otherwise it seems odd that there would be such a large discrepancy.

Can people who rcvd acceptances after AC email this cycle say what was the approx. time before the AC email and acceptance? Interviewed first week of Dec and got AC around new years.

No decision here yet, but it looks like the timing can vary drastically from person to person. Some people never get the AC email, some people have the AC for months before a decision, some people get a decision within weeks - there's no real way to know!

I also interviewed first week of December and got AC right before Christmas, so here's to hoping we hear something soon.

I interviewed at the beginning of September, got the AC in October and haven't heard anything since.

I think if you are a PURCH, and MD, and MD/PhD applicant, each one has their own process and subcommittee that admits you and it can take a while to balance all that out

I spoke a little too soon up there - Just got my very first A!! I am so beyond excited. Interview in the first week of December, AC email on 12/23. OOS but very strong ties to the school!
Congrats!! Funny how that worked out 🤣

(if UMass is reading this: send me one too...)

Are you PURCH or regular MD? Congrats btw!!!

Just got an A earlier today!! Incredibly ecstatic since wasn't accepted last cycle!

Slightly below average stats, but strong ties to the school. Interview last week.

The email was sent at 1:30 pm.

Edit: regular MD non PURCH

Do they review all ACs every month? It seems like most people who get acceptances, interview pretty close to their acceptance date
