2021-2022 Washington University in St. Louis

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Some other folks have asked about this, but is there an accepted students Facebook group (or even a groupchat)? I'd love to chat with some of y'all potential future classmates 🙂

Edit: if anyone wants to even do a zoom or something I'd be down
i would love to chat or potentially group zoom! (i don’t think we have a groupme or facebook group…)

For those who have been accepted, did you send any updates/LOI either post or pre interview?

Hi peeps! I started a Facebook group! I have started DMing folks the link (though I could just pop it here if y'all want). It's making me wait a minute between each DM, so please go ahead and message me if I haven't gotten to you yet and you want in.

Hoping for a big wave (that includes me hehe) those with ~insider knowledge~ from past threads- are there multiple waves in March or one big day (or two) of calls and then Rs and WLs later on? Thanks 🙂 just another nervous interviewee

I’m right there with you!! Sounds like you love WashU as much as I do 🥲 hoping good news comes our way soon!! 🤞

Edit: just check last year’s thread and it looks like there were waves of acceptances on the 1st and 3rd Thursday’s of March. From what I can tell, the notifications that came out on April 1st were all WL.

Go bears!!! Thanks for doing the digging. The first Thursday of March is disturbingly soon 😅 hoping it works out

Anyone else struggle getting into the accepted facebook group? I've requested access like 4 times now and I'm still not in. My fb name is the same as my application name too...
Maybe email admissions? Also, how many people are in the group so far? 👀😂

I think someone said that about half the class has been accepted so far? idk. I am also curious as to how many As are issued initially vs off the waitlist, cos I'm having somewhat of a WL streak recently lmao

I feel you on that WL streak 🥲🥲

LOL no no no we are getting good news this Thursday 🤣🙏

Also when I was looking at last years thread I remember somewhere reading someone say that they only saw one WL acceptance reported on the year before. I saw two WL acceptances reported last year sooooo….. eek.

cries. then what's the point of the waitlist????

WashU has been said to waitlist most people who don’t get accepted post-II 🥺

Who knows for sure though 🤷‍♀️ I can’t imagine they have the exact same admissions policies from year to year so hopefully things work out for us

They interview like 1000 people for 300 acceptances for a class of 100. Getting an interview is an impressive accomplishment....but it is certainly not worth getting our hopes up for given the statistical unlikelihood of post-interview acceptance. This post brought to you by cynic man

This is my only interview I haven't heard back from... really hoping it turns into an A. Sucks to hear how little those chances are. go bears

edit: this was unnecessarily relevant and did not add anything to the thread but my own anxiety. I really appreciate how transparent everyone has been with sharing info and goes to show what a lovely community WashU might have for its class next year. I hope to be a part of it 🙂

Idk if it helps but of the current med students I talked to through connecting with clubs emails, like 3 of them said they were accepted off the waitlist. Also during my interview admissions said post-ii rejections are really rare and typically if not accepted the vast majority of people will be waitlisted. There probably is a decent amount of wl movement, it just is quite a large waitlist.

Y'all last night I dreamt that I got the call and excitedly told my parents that I got into WashU 😩😭

I’ve had two dreams like this 😭😭😭😭😭😭 waking up was 👎
last week I had an awful dream about UChicago and got waitlisted so maybe this positive dream means I'll have a positive result?... also did you dream that beep beep got into WashU with you 🥺

Hahaha now I probably will next time… it’ll probably be some dream about me coming here to report an A and seeing you post the same. Or that’ll just be our reality v soon ✨🤩

I had a dream WashU rejected me two days before I got the acceptance, I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

I've had multiple dreams of WashU rejecting me :/
If babybluee says it's true then it's true. A WashU R dream means a WashU A. A WashU A dream means a WashU A. We're all going to hold hands in St. Louis

I thought it used to have a gunner reputation lol
Med school students in general used to have more gunner reputations, I'm told. But from seeing the current students at Why WashU Wednesdays, they seem to be more supportive and inviting than the students at any other school where I've interviewed.

Every school probably exerts a great degree of influence and control over who is selected for these panels. I pretty much view all these interview events as advertisements the school puts on, and they aren’t necessarily 100% accurate in terms of representing the entire picture of the student experience.

Yeah, that's true, can't know for sure. But I'm here because I have a positive view of the school. If you expect a negative experience, not sure why you're here 🤷‍♀️

Looks like the UCLA people have arrived xD

I mean, they are correct. This is why on campus visits are great. Harder to hide vibes.

My WashU vibes have been that they are incredibly supportive and focused on “us” but OMG do they feel artificial/very well rehearsed.

So people who interview in March still hear back in March? Or later?

I will say having gone to WashU for undergrad that they invest a lot on having a v welcoming image and they're really persuasive. The med students that I know tho are lovely. But the whole rehearsed thing is v on brand for WashU (go bears)

I had heard rumors about the gunner vibe at WashU, but this is not the vibe I got at all during the interview experience. In fact, quite the opposite. I have also talked to many current students since then, and everyone says the environment is extremely supportive!

I believe everyone will hear back by the end of March one way or another. But it is def nervewracking to not have a date to expect a decision. My nerves are wracked

I thought they needed to fill all seats by March 15th per traffic rules. Meaning that all initial As would go out by then. Is that correct?
