Damn I’m a cancer. Overthink & very emotional, hence why I caused chaos in this chat about some relevant correlation between zodiac sign and A’s out there 🤣🤣🤣🤣
OMG YOU DANG CANCERS UGHHHHHH (my mom is a cancer and stresses me tf out lmao)

Do you guys think they gave out 60 acceptances last night? Or do you think they are still coming today?

60 As last night isn’t out of the question at all: But they’ll need to give out a lot more to fill their class so don’t sweat it.

I know can you tell I am freaking out a bit LOL
Yes, LMAO, but we really have to just trust that we are going to be put in the right place. Whether this is with CDU, or another school, we are going to end up, where we are meant to be most impactful. This message is coming from the girly that had her breakdown last night 😌

This. I had to schedule for a sooner therapy session with my therapist lol

But yall have to remember, some of the people who received As yesterday, also have As elsewhere. With the COA being high and the newness of the school, there's a good chance people will be decline their offer. And their seats will go to those of us who don't have any other options (me😭)

Just curious, do you guys think the newness of the school is going to be a problem? I think the fact that they have been working together with UCLA for a while probably means they have a good foundation. They also have some pretty solid clinical sites.

It's still less "security" because it is its own separate entity and funding is less than other schools. It's nice having a foundation but having a well oiled machine is also essential. Didactics for CDU/UCLA are done at UCLA. We'll only be doing didactics at CDU. That being said we'll have to roll with the punches (and a lot of punches) and remain resilient if accepted and enrolled. I know for nontrad students, that's right up our alley

This school has nothing to do with UCLA. It is pretty much a brand-new program. UCLA manages the other program, so it is a bit more established but still has its issues. You should expect this program to have a rough start since the people managing it will be new.

Well, I am not saying this new program is still managed by UCLA. What I am trying to say is that CDU has been working together with UCLA to graduate students for 50+ years so its likely that they have learned in the process how to run a medical school. I think that gives them a leg up compared to other brand new medical schools.

I am about 90% sure they did not. I am thinking a few more will keep coming in until the 15th. Also, I think everyone still has a chance until May at the latest, as the waitlist keeps moving.

You would think so but that is not the case. The faculty are separate. This is done on purpose as UCLA has a history of trying to take the lead on CDU initiatives. UCLA provides almost all resources to the UCLA/Drew students.

I hope that's the case. I was mentally preparing myself for 3/15 and seeing As so early on messed with my waiting game. lol
So...back to waiting I guess.

Yes and No. It's not built from scratch like Cal Northstate was. It's possible that a decent portion of the faculty and admin were involved with UCLA medical education, so they may have some institutional knowledge that they can bring with them. Also being from the geographic area they may have prior relationships that the can use. Either way there will be bumps and bruises.

Yeah, I would relax. The school will probably be sending rejections within the next month or so. Everyone else should technically be on a waitlist. So unless you get that rejection letter, you are still in the game.

I agree, I also looked at their faculty list and a lot teach at both CDU and UCLA. I think they will have a slightly better foundation than a school started from scratch. But I guess we have to wait and see!

Hi I am a drew/ucla student. I concur that the program won't be without bumps, but with 50+ years of experience working with UCLA they are not new to what it takes to run a medical school. They also have a longstanding relationship with UCLA and will receive support navigating those bumps. If I can be of any minor assistance to anyone holding an A and committed to the drew mission, feel free to reach out to me

Does anyone know if they changed the requirements for Calculus? At first, they required a year, but now I'm seeing six months (similar to biochem) on the website.

So this school only gives our private loans right? They didn’t have a school info zoom or anything lol so I have no info

i interviewed in dec and haven't gotten any emails or anything... really hoping for an A.

This Is Fine GIF

Thank goodness I got a therapy appt tomorrow to vent about my anxiousness around this😭🤣

1+1 seems to be equaling 2 😂. I do believe that time could’ve been better spent getting to know more about me as an applicant.

This thread has given me some of the best laughs throughout this miserable process. If anything, i'd be most bummed about a rejection because it would rob me from the opportunity of sharing a space with you hilarious smarty pants human beings <3
