If I interviewed mid September, should I have heard back by now?

for those who interviewed, what do you think you did well on and what do you think went wrong?

When answering interview questions, for example: tell me about a time you worked in a team or acted as a leader, should I only try to use the examples that I wrote about in my primary, secondary or most meaningful experiences sections of my application or should I try to come up with brand new examples?

I did a mix of new and previously mentioned.

ok so it doesn't seem like it is disingenuous to come up with completely new examples
It's fine to do that if you have more experiences that match the question. After all, they have already read what you wrote in your secondary.
If you can't think of something different, then use your previous examples.

I have actually done a ton of new experiences since applying, like passing an opioid policy here in the central valley. I think bringing it up was relevant. I also discussed my mother illness and how I treated it but it wasnt on my app. They dont mind, just relate it to medicine and show them how its shaped your journey.

I'm getting a little mixed up hahaha, I am talking more so about using the same experiences from my primary application but should I be using the same stories from these particular experiences that I used in my applications or using completely different different stories from the same particular experience. I'm not so much talking about new experiences I have had since applying if that makes sense

My bad i misunderstood. you can use stories from your primary directly. It wont affect anything.

It looks like UCI has interviews scheduled through March. I'm guessing the only chance the rest of us will hear back is if people withdraw their applications.

Did anybody else interview 9/5 and not hear back at all? No A, R, or WL? I've checked my status in the portal and there is no admissions status. I believe they said they would get back to us by the end of October, but we're nearly halfway through November. What does this mean?

do they typically do that? i thought they were pretty prompt

Dear UCI, if you could send pre-II Rs so we can know if we're rejected or still under consideration for an interview, that'd be great.

I'm not sure... it seems like others who interviewed 9/5 have heard back but a few of us haven't. I thought they would be prompt too 🙁

how receptive is uci to updates after interviewing? should we be sending only major updates only?

What makes you prefer UCI over say, UCLA or UCSF?
I think a lot of it depends on factors outside of the actual school and program.

I have visited all campuses, and I loved UCI's facilities/study areas, campus safety/security, proximity to shopping, and the city just felt really clean. My significant other really felt safe in Irvine, which I think is a big factor for us in choosing a school.

LA and SF are two huge cities that I have spent significant time in and I just haven’t liked them as much. I don’t think I’m a huge city guy. I feel stressed out just sitting in traffic in these cities lol.

Is Davis a similar vibe to UCI?

Wonder if UCI will have the same R email from last year with some called competitive candidates and others not
I believe last year the pre-secondary R's didn't receive the "competitive candidate" emails, and vice versa.

To be honest, no, not at all.

Davis is a larger city, but it's essentially surrounded by nothing other than Sacramento, which is maybe ~45 minutes away. It's a very nice and quiet city, but there is still a lot of things to do. Just not as much as SoCal.

Irvine is located within Orange County, and as such there's a lot to do. It was a planned city, and as such everything looks "perfect", almost like the Truman Show. I believe one of the city planners actually worked for Disneyland - and certain parts of the city were designed to have different "vibes", even though they may look the same. (can be a con for some)

You're surrounded by different things, and LA is only an hour and a half away. Depending on where you live, the beach can be ~20-30 minutes away. Irvine is also nice and quiet, but there are definitely more people living in the city + area. Also a lot more food options if you're a foodie 😀

They are 100% two different vibes - however I'm probably biased towards UCI lol.
