2024-2025 Washington University in St. Louis

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
for those of you who have already interviewed - i unfortunately didn't take casper so no idea how to prep or what to expect for the kira talent interview! any tips on how to prep / how much i should be prepping? should i be studying as if i were taking casper? i appreciate it :)
It was largely similar to Casper-style. Any interview prep in that vein is fine. It was not a big deal, but comes down to some degree to how comfortable you are with responding to that style of question. Having taken Casper a few months ago I didn't do any special prep for this one; went fine

yea i heard something similar, like they manually check off LOR. anyway eh its fine, I don't think WashU is as anal as schools like NYU about submission at this time
What do you mean by schools like NYU and submission? Like NYU cares about how soon you submitted secondaries after you received the application?

NYU sent over a third of their interviews in one single wave in July, so early submission very much matters for them. Some schools care a LOT about early submission.

No. They meant the early complete date has huge advantage. Not the duration between receiving date and submission date of your secondary.

Any insights on what other schools have a particular emphasis on this? I know early is generally better but I wasn't really aware that there were certain schools where it has a particularly huge advantage

Michigan, NYU, Pittsburgh, and Tulane are some examples where its crucial to be early.

Does anyone know if there is just one interview or multiple interviews for the interview day?

two interviews - one closed file, one open file. you should be able to find info in the "interview" tab in your portal

Does WashU have med students who are volunteers with admissions that reach out before interviews? I've had this for a couple other schools and was just wondering, since I don't know anyone who has lived in St. Louis and would like to get a sense of what life is like in the city from the med students perspective before interviewing

PS I already got an A from a DO, but I will still seriously prepare for this school (I know my GPA and MCAT is not that high)
This is a rolling admissions school. They dont hand out early interviews if they think you dont have a shot. They must like something in your app.

For people who did the Kira talent interview already, was the time (minutes) allotted for prep and answering on the practice questions similar to the time allotted on the actual assessment?

is the deans session casual dress?

i know they explicitly mentioned that meet the students was casual dress. i assume that since they didn’t clarify for the deans session that it should be professional dress

I had my interview today… but I have a big presentation at the time of Dean’s Greeting. It is probably fine if I go to the one on Thursday… right?

Anyone interviewing Thursday get their interview times yet? I still haven't heard back

What is the Kira talent interview like? Should you prepare for more traditional interview questions, or is it mostly ethical scenarios? How long do you have to answer each prompt?

what is the acceptance rate for OOS here? They interview around what percentage of OOS?

I had a bunch of dates available but the portal was super laggy (I got to schedule one though it just took 5+ min to load each page) so maybe it's just high traffic
